CY has got to go

Im sorry, but these past 3 years for me have been nothing but one word for Chris- "Potential".

He keeps thinking that this team still has world series potential like in 2023 but its clear that the WS runners are not as they were and will not get to that point again.

We need a rebuild and CY doesnt want to do that. So my solution? We fire him so that way we can actually have someone who wants to build a world series winning team.

Well if any one needs to go it's Kipp Fagg, the scouting director. Since he took over in 2009, we've only had three "homegrown" all stars. (Jung, Gallo, Latz). Not mention we have one of lowest war from drafted players. Only the giants are worse in that regard.

Don't know why he's been here all this time. What type of job security does he have?

Skip can go too.

1) He’s limited by what ownership is willing to spend
2) We unloaded a lot of our young assets in pursuit of our WS title
3) Rebuilding in baseball isn’t like rebuilding in basketball or football. More than any other sport, the MLB draft is a complete crapshoot.

What would you have done differently given the constraints by ownership and the contracts already given out?

So...CY is...good? Lol

Tell the owner that we need to spend more. But thats just my opinion, because Ray has been sitting on money that we could be spending.

Well the owner is going to spend based on the circumstances surrounding him, and impending lockout + TV deal chaos + overspending for a WS is just about the worst combination you could think up.

And replace him with whom? You can only do so much when handcuffed to what you have. Look at the rest of the AL right now. It's not like anyone else is doing any better.

2

u/puudji 21d ago

Replace him with someone who has a better vision? Why are you locked into CY?

3

u/Malisyn Malisyn 21d ago

Yeah, you can't even give a real answer. WHO? Not what kind of person. You think there's some magical GM out there that can wave a wand and make any move he wants and get Davis to sign on?

Someone with a better vision...pff. How generic of an answer can you give? I'm not saying CY needs to stay. I'm just saying that unless you can come up with a realistic name that would be a better choice, let's not overreact.

Ask any fandom for a GM in waiting and let me know what they say. No one is scouting GMs. No one knew who JD was or that CY was a candidate. Get over yourself. Look at the results.

1

u/Malisyn Malisyn 21d ago

Haha, get iver myself. Right. Because I'm the one acting like I knows best for the team, right? I'm the one acting like I know the behind the scenes mechanics, right?

You're so right. GMs just fall out of the sky. They should hire you since you have it all figured out better than everyone else. If they fire CY, I could care less. But if they do, it's gonna be because they already know what they're gonna do. Not just fire him to fire him.

u/puudji 21d ago

Im totally fine with that logic. If they think they need to move on they totally should and they will hire who they want. So why the fuck would you try to grill me on who it should be? This might be the most brain dead thread on this subject in this sub. Grats.

He’s put together a decent roster. The players have just sucked.

2

u/puudji 21d ago

No, duds all over the roster, Duran is your MVP thats not good.

3

u/whisky_TX 21d ago

Yep CY should get fired bc Seager and Langford were shitty this year. Grow a brain

1

u/puudji 21d ago

If somehow having a brain is appreciating this team makeup...good lord

I’m confident you can’t read

Do we know that CY doesn’t want to rebuild or is it our asshat of an owner Ray Davis?

2

u/CaughtALiteSneez I. Rodriguez 22d ago

Yep, this is always what I think too

0

u/hotrod19812 J. Hamilton 22d ago

How much longer till Davis kicks the you know what?

2

u/CaughtALiteSneez I. Rodriguez 22d ago

These types hold on like Mitch McConnell

1

u/hotrod19812 J. Hamilton 22d ago

I don't like that. Evil people with no redeeming qualities seem to live longer lives for some strange reason. Think of fictional examples like Mr. Burns on The Simpsons.

2

u/jcole4lsu 22d ago

How do you expect to rebuild when your best trade pieces exercise their no trade clause?

5

u/mannyklein 22d ago

That was one player this year, and the rumored trade was horrible. Guys like Pederson should’ve been sent out for a bag of peanuts

-8

u/Tylerplays897 22d ago

As much as I respect that, if you're gonna exercise that clause then your ass better get your shit together and do something good for the team instead of just holding them back.

7

u/Zookeepergame_Sorry 22d ago

To be fair, deGrom earned the right to that clause and though he publicly said he believes in this team, he may have other reasons for not wanting to move midseason too. Whatever his reason for exercising it, he deserves to make that call.

2

u/CaughtALiteSneez I. Rodriguez 22d ago

And it wasn’t a win for us really either…

2

u/jcole4lsu 22d ago

K. What does that have to do with CY?

He tried to sell at the deadline. The players had the power and said no.

Seems like your anger should be directed at them instead.

2

u/CaughtALiteSneez I. Rodriguez 22d ago

He tried to sell one player and got rid of Josh Smith which wasn’t a win in my book

0

u/jcole4lsu 22d ago

Once your star says no there is no point in selling much of anything else.

-2

u/Tylerplays897 22d ago

Honestly that might be it. Im just so pissed at the fact that we are still keeping the same people that have shown are not ass good as they were during 2023 and not actually doing something about that.

1

u/d1sportsball J. Hamilton 22d ago

Like who? Who is worse now than they were in 2023 that also has any trade value?

Carter is worse, so much worse he has 0 trade value

Evo is worse, but he has a full no trade clause

Seager is worse, but at the time of the deadline any trade would either be a salary dump or taking on the brunt of his salary for prospects

Downvote, because CY is not the problem..

Ownersip/management mismanaged media rights after winning a world series.

CY is possibly the only guy that could save the rangers from being Miami/Athletics.

I don't have enough knowledge about the transactions he has made, neither does anyone else.

The house has been on fire for three years and he has kept us in the playoffs through 156.

God bless CY and let's figure out the tv revenue

2

u/puudji 21d ago

Lol, insane cope

2

u/jeffmack01 Ryan 21d ago

he has kept us in the playoffs through 156

Credit for that firmly lies with the rest of the AL, not with CY. If we were in the NL with our current record, we'd be 9 games out of the last wild card spot and would have effectively been eliminated from playoff contention 3 weeks ago. Not to mention, if we were in the NL, our record would probably be much, much worse.

I'm not (yet) on the "fire CY" train, but he most certainly doesn't deserve this level of veneration.

Hire perry minasian. He's familiar with the franchise already

-5

u/hotrod19812 J. Hamilton 22d ago

Fire CY. Hire Michael Young as the perfect GM for this club.
