Tv recommendations Sony vs samsung

I'm looking to purchase either an OLED or RGB television and am currently undecided between a Samsung or a Sony model. The Sony option is quite expensive, whereas the Samsung true RGB model is within my budget. But now I'm confused whether to buy Samsung OLED which provides an anti-glare feature because it will be in the living room which is facing a window. What do you suggest?

Install/Placement VESA Mounting (200x300)

I want to wall mount a TV in the kids room. According to the specification the VESA wall mount is 200x300. I tried looking for something compatible, but I can't seem to find any.

Some say, between 75x75 and 400x400, but then it lists specific configuration and 200x300 isn't listed. 300x200 is usually listed, but not the reverse.

Would those work? I'm really confused here.

Buying Advice US Viewing angle for VA panels

Are the viewing angles on a VA panel TV like the TCL QM7L really as bad for an ordinary every day cable/YouTube viewer as the reviewers are letting on?

5+ year old LED Sony x800 to (insert recommendation here)

Looking to upgrade my old Sony x800 to my first OLED and am a bit overwhelmed with the options.

I want to go either 77 inch or 83 inch

I do game on the TV so gaming features would be nice.

Reflections arent a big issue. TV is mostly used at night in a dark room.

TV won't be mounted so needs a stand

2026 77in C6H seems to be the most recommended ive seen so far.

Buying Advice EU LG C6 55” or G6 48”? (Both the same price £1399) HELP!

Which is better? Both are priced at \*\*£1399.98\*\* and I’m not sure which one I should go with.

Currently have a \*\*43” LG TV (lcd)\*\* which is a good size for my bedroom wall already.

Which performs better? Which has better hardware?

Do I choose \*\*(C6 55”)\*\* for the size or what I assume has better hardware the \*\*(G6 48”)\*\*?

Buying Advice Asia Samsung QN80H 55 inch

Planning to buy Samsung QN80H 55-inch for ₹75K — good deal?
I’m planning to buy the Samsung QN80H 55-inch for my parents. Their primary use will be OTT platforms and watching sports.
I’m getting it for around ₹75,000. Is this a good price for this TV, or should I consider other options in this price range?
I’m planning to skip TCL and other brands due to concerns about after-sales service. So, I’m mainly considering LG, Sony, and Samsung.
Would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks!

Buying Advice EU What happened to the cheap(ish) OLED TVs in the UK?

Earlier in the year, I was looking at OLED TVs to replace our 19-year-old Panasonic plasma. It's old, but it still has an exceptional picture and anything other than OLED won't feel like an upgrade.

Then, there looked to be some decent choices around £750 to £900 with Sony, some Panasonic Z-somethings and some LGs.

Now, the Sonys and Panasonics have vanished and all I can see are LGs starting at £1000.

Discussion 48" vs 55" for 0.9 m, 1.6 m and 2.35 m viewing distance – which size would you recommend me to buy?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between a 48" and a 55" TV and would appreciate your advice based on my viewing distances.

When I sit close to the TV for gaming, I’m about 1.6 m away from the screen. Sometimes even only 0.9 m.

When I’m gaming or watching something while lying on the couch, I’m around 2.35 m away.

The 55" model costs €300 more than the 48" one, and I’m not sure if that extra money is really worth it for the larger size in my situation.

Which size would you recommend for my viewing distances and use case, and do you think the jump from 48" to 55" is noticeable enough at 0.9 m – 2.35 m to justify the additional €300?

Thanks in advance!

Buying Advice EU Is a LG C5E worth it?

Im looking for a 55” tv. I have 20% on lg tvs through a perks with work scheme. I have the opportunity to get a oled c5e 2025, is it worth it being last years model and is there a difference between c5e and c5? Much difference between last years and this years model?

I watch movies and series and play xbox series x.

My current tv is a sony led 4k 8 years old.

My other option was to get a 2026 qned evo 86 55” or a mini rgb 88 55” im abit torn as the c5e would be abit more expensive but with discount i can get it for about £880?

I know oled is better but is the c5e outdated even though its a 2025 model?

1400 tv worth 400?

Is the tv decent enough? I only plan to watch shows and movies. It will sit next to a window and at night it will be in a dark room so it has to be able to be bright enough and have nice contrast/colours.

The tv is 5 years old and I can buy it for 400. Have new tvs gotten so good and cheap that I can get something way better new for up to double the price? (same dimension though)

Thank you

Sony KE-75XH9096 75 inch

Specs:
• 75 inch / 189 cm
• 4K Ultra HD
• 100/120Hz
• HDMI 2.1 / 4K 120Hz
• VRR
• Dolby Vision
• Android TV
• full array led

Pause Live OTA TV

When pausing live broadcasts on my TCL C855 you end up with a large box in the bottom left hand corner of the screen that remains there after you resume play. It basically shows you how far behind the live broadcast you are.

I consider it unnecessary and distracting.

Is there a way to turn it off and get rid of it?

Thinking about getting the Philips 65OLED770 — any input on the Apple TV HDR color banding & OLED refresh bug?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying the Philips 65OLED770. I'm already aware that it has lower peak brightness compared to higher-end models (which isn't a dealbreaker for me) and that Titan OS isn't the best smart TV platform. My plan is to use an Apple TV 4K as my primary media device anyway.

However, I've come across two specific issues reported on some Philips OLED models that are making me hesitant:

  1. Color Banding with Apple TV: I've read that combining a Philips OLED with an Apple TV 4K can cause noticeable color banding when playing HDR content. How severe is this banding in practice?
  2. OLED Refresh Loop Bug: Some users reported a bug where the TV fails to register a completed panel refresh. A user described it like this: "The majority of the time it doesn’t realise it’s successfully completed the OLED screen refresh. A message will appear to tell you it’s required so you select now or later. If selecting now it pops the tv into standby. Leave it a while turn tv back on and the message will reappear."

For anyone who owns the 770 series (or recent Titan OS Philips OLEDs):

  • Do these two issues apply to the 770 series as well?
  • Have any of these bugs been fixed in recent firmware updates?
  • Is the color banding issue noticeable enough during normal viewing to be a dealbreaker?

Thanks in advance!

Need advice

So two weeks ago I made my first big boy TV purchase in years when I decided to buy the LGC6 65 inch OLED TV…and while it’s a fantastic tv and I completely understand the hype, there are too many factors that make it not the right tv for me personally-from the intensity of the brightness no matter the picture mode I’m in or how low I set the brightness settings to the weird motion blur effects I notice during certain shows or movies..it’s just not right for me.

What would be a good suggestion for a TV that’s on the middle to higher end that’s LCD with mini LED backlighting or simply not OLED, that you guys could comfortably suggest knowing I have major eye sensitivity and a history of seizure disorder. The TV im replacing is an old 2014 Samsung UN65HU8550 which I believe was LCD with mini LED backlighting and I LOVED this thing. Again, I know this is a fantastic tv it’s just not worth the concerns that I’m now having. Thanks!

Buying Advice US Best deal for a TV ~50"?

I want to stay under $1k, but I can stretch to $1200 if possible I guess. I'm just worried about breaking it when I have to move in a year or two. My current room is definitely on the darker side and I have issues with glare from my ceiling light. Given that, I guess OLED is best; the massive price difference compared to Mini LED still gives me pause, however. Needs to be at least 120Hz with VRR and good HDR. Mainly used for gaming, streaming services and YouTube. I won't rule out LG this time; I just won't put it online lol.

Also, thoughts on used/open box? I'd be upgrading from a 43" VA.

Help! HDR issues

I've got about a 4 year old HiSense 75R7070E2 with built in Roku.  Seems like in the past year Streaming services automatically (Notably Paramount Plus and Apple) transmit most of their shows/movies in HDR, so when I view they look dark.  Doesn't seem to matter if I have the
HDR on or off from the "secret" menu, these shows and movies are dim and dark.

Any suggestions? Do have to get a new TV? Can this model not handle HDR even though there is an on/off option for it?

Buying Advice EU Look for a new tv 50-55inch? Whats the best for a top budget of £1000?

I have a sony bravia 4k tv now, its 49inch and ive had it about 8 years.
Im looking for a new one that has 120hz for Xbox (mainly for gta6 coming out) and good for all-round film/tv series viewing.
My current tv is 4k led but its not hdr or hdr 10 or anything, so hence the upgrade to a better spec and one that keeps me potentially going for another 8-10 years.
Budget £1000 but ideally lower as thats my top end.
Also is it best to go LED? Qled? Oled?

Best TV/specs for GTA VI on a desk setup?

I’m planning on buying a new TV mainly for GTA VI and want to make sure I’m looking for the right specs.

It’ll be for a desk setup, so I’m looking for something relatively small rather than a huge living-room TV. What specs/features should I prioritize for GTA VI on console—4K/120Hz, HDMI 2.1, VRR, OLED, HDR, etc.?

Also totally open to specific TV recommendations if you have any. Basically looking for the best GTA VI experience I can get from a smaller TV/monitor-sized setup without paying for features I won’t actually use.

[TCL 65C849 2024] Volume pulsing during musical scenes, even after firmware update to V667

Hi all,

I'm dealing with a persistent audio issue on my TCL 65C849 (2024, C845X2/T653T01 platform) and looking for ideas before reaching out to TCL support.

**The issue:**

During musical scenes (movie score, opening/closing credits...), the audio pulses rapidly in volume — kind of a "pumping" effect. It's audible across multiple sources: at least Canal+ and Disney+. The problem seems intermittent: if I rewind and replay the exact same scene, it can play normally the second time. Simply pausing and resuming during an episode of pulsing also stops it immediately.

**Setup:**

\- TCL 65C849, 2024, C845X2/T653T01 platform

\- Direct sound through internal speakers (no soundbar, no eARC)

\- Wall-mounted with a bracket giving 37 mm of clearance (above TCL's recommended minimum)

\- Firmware: recently updated from V655 to V667, no improvement on this specific issue

**What I've already tested/ruled out:**

\- AVL (Auto Volume Leveling): already disabled

\- Digital audio output: already set to PCM (no active Bitstream/Auto option)

\- No DTS or DRC option visible in the menus (audio menu is very limited on this model)

\- Wall clearance: 37 mm, above the recommended 2 cm, so the rear-mounted subwoofer doesn't seem obstructed

\- Firmware update V655 → V667: no change on this specific issue (V667 fixed other audio complaints for some users on the TCL Telegram channel, but not this one for me)

Has anyone run into this kind of volume pulsing on a TCL (or another brand with a similar chipset, Pentonic)? The fact that it stops just by pausing makes me think it's more of a decoding/buffering glitch than a hardware limiter, but I'm open to any leads or experiences

Buying Advice US Buying a MiniLED - Budget ~$1500

Been wracking my brain on this doing research for the past few weeks. My 10-year-old TV shit the bed a few weeks ago and I've been using an even older TV as a backup. I hate the backup and I'm trying to replace as soon as possible.

What I'm looking for:

75" TV - MiniLED Budget ~$1500

I'm currently between the TCL QM8K, QM7L, and Hisense U7.

The room the TV in is naturally bright and my current and past TV's have had some pretty heavy reflections. It's been almost impossible for me to watch darker shows during the daytime.

Optimal viewing position for tv.

Back in the very early days of TV (yes, I am that old), health officials proclaimed that it was harmful to one’s eyes to watch TV if the TV was positioned less than a certain distance from the viewer, and that it must be positioned so the viewer’s gaze was slightly down. In other words, the viewer should not be looking straight ahead at the TV nor upward at the TV. I have not heard that warning in years, and I now see TVs mounted high on walls. Is there an optimal distance and position for TV viewing?
