Citi + Karat first round for Lead AI/ML Data Scientist: recent experiences?
Hi all, I have a Karat technical interview today as the first step for Citi’s Lead AI/ML Data Scientist role. My invite lists two topics: “Discussion and Analysis Questions: Python” and “Live Coding: Develop and Update Backend Code.”
If you’ve done a Citi Karat interview recently (any role), I’d appreciate hearing about:
- Discussion part: how long, and what kind of Python questions (core language concepts, output prediction, something data/ML-related)?
- Live coding: was it a codebase with unit tests where you fix a bug and then add features? Roughly how big, and how many features?
- Data science flavour: for DS/ML roles, was there pandas/NumPy work, statistics, or data cleaning, or was it pure backend Python?

Unpaid ₹5 lakh service bond can missing experience and relieving letters affect future BGV?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for advice from people who have faced a similar situation while switching jobs in India.
I'm currently working at an IT services company and have resigned after around a year of employment. When I joined, I signed a separate service agreement requiring me to work for a minimum of 3 years or pay ₹5 lakh if I leave early.
However i resigned after 1year, my resignation has been accepted by my manager, and my last working day is confirmed in writing. I intend to complete my notice period and hand over my responsibilities properly.
However, HR has told me that the ₹5 lakh amount is final and cannot be negotiated. They have also said that if I don't pay, I won't receive my full-and-final settlement, experience letter, or other exit documents.
I also came across an internal communication stating that employees who leave with outstanding dues should contact payroll for settlement and that managers must check with payroll before providing references to those employees.
I have an offer from another company, but my main concern is the long-term impact of leaving without these documents.
My questions are:
If I join my next company successfully without an experience or relieving letter, could this create problems when I switch again after 2–3 years?
Could this affect background verification for future jobs, particularly overseas opportunities?
If I have my appointment letter, resignation acceptance, written confirmation of my last working day, payslips, and PF records, can these documents help establish my employment history?
Has anyone successfully completed BGV at a product-based company without an experience or relieving letter from a previous employer?
Could the previous employer's refusal to provide references or exit documents create problems even if my next employer verifies my employment through other means?
Is it worth consulting an employment lawyer about the bond and withheld documents before deciding whether to pay the ₹5 lakh?
I'm not trying to avoid my notice period or misrepresent my employment history. I want to understand the practical risks before making a decision involving a significant amount of money.
I'd appreciate responses from people who have experienced a similar situation, HR professionals familiar with Indian background verification, or employment lawyers.
Thanks in advance!

Josh technologies SQA Internship vs Waiting for an SDE Opportunity — what to do?
Should I accept an josh tech- SQA internship or keep pursuing SDE roles?
I'm in my final year of B.Tech IT and have received an offer from Josh Technologies for a Software Quality Analyst role with a package of ₹4.5 LPA + ₹45K first year bonus + 36k performance bonus.
I've spent the last two years preparing for SDE roles and building development projects, so this isn't what I originally planned. I also have no prior internship experience, which makes me hesitant to reject this opportunity.
The internship is for 9 months, with a 15-month bond, a 3-month probation period, and a ₹1 lakh penalty under certain conditions. They also require a signed ₹1 lakh cheque as security.
My questions are:
What is working in an SQA role actually like? Can I realistically prepare for SDE interviews and continue DSA and development alongside the job?
How difficult is it to switch from SQA to SDE later?
Given the bond and my lack of experience, should I accept this offer or keep pursuing SDE opportunities?
Would appreciate advice, especially from people who've transitioned from QA to development.

Title: The Toro Company Pune – How is the SQI/Sourcing role?
Hi everyone! I’m an Electrical Engineering student graduating in 2027, and I wanted to know more about the SQI/Sourcing role at The Toro Company, Pune, which offers a CTC of ₹8–10 LPA.
How is the work culture, annual increment, and long-term career growth in this role? Is the work technically oriented, and what are the future exit opportunities?
Also, how does this role compare with a GET position in terms of salary growth, technical exposure, and career prospects?
I’d really appreciate insights from anyone currently working at Toro or with experience in similar roles. Thanks!

Anyone joining Standard Chartered as an Analyst, Development Apprentice on November 11, 2026?
Hi there 👋
I received an offer from Standard Chartered for the Analyst, Development role under its Apprenticeship Program.
My joining date is November 11, 2026, and my location is Bengaluru.
Is anyone else joining on the same date, especially in Bengaluru? It would be great to connect.
I also requested a transfer to Chennai due to family circumstances, but HR said it wasn’t possible.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Is location reconsideration possible before joining, or is the initial allocation usually final?

DE SHaw interview prep
Hey everyone, I have upcoming virtual code-pair round, It is mentioned that DSA, programming fundamentals, Core CS fundamentals, and past project experience will be asked.
I can do medium to hard questions but takes time to solve and in interview i generally get stressed and wont be able to think clearly. I am good at oops , dbms (not a pro) but have only basic knowledge of OS and CN concepts(learnt during my engineering). Plus in my current work I don't get much to code due to management pressure to use claude only, Because of that i am now struggling with java basics as well. I have learnt Python in my Btech but in my current company we generally use java so i lost touch with python as well. I am learning LLD with java and planning to interview in java only.
Can you please suggest what topics to concentrate, how to strategise my preparation so I can give my best, I am ready to go all in since I am planning to resign my current job due to the toxic environment and i badly need this job.
It would be helpful if you guys share your preparation strategy and resources that helped you.

Unrealistic notice period requirements
Most of the recent calls where I had been contacted by the recruiter demanded an immediate joiner or asked whether I was on a notice period.
My on-paper np is about 2 months but generally my co-workers had got released in 20-30 days so I had tried convincing them saying it's about 15-30 days. Also that it is negotiable and can get an early release. Some told that they required an immediate joiner or that they'll get back and let me know which obviously they didn't.
Also lately I've been seeing very less openings in the 2-4 yoe level bracket.
What's up with the recruitment process? Have they totally stopped recruiting people that are not on notice or immediate joiner. Has anyone else experienced this for the same YOE?

Anyone been through Merck Group's interview process in India? 🥹
Hii everyone!! 💗
Just wanted to ask if anyone here has recently interviewed at Merck Group in India.
Does anyone know what usually happens after the technical and coding rounds? Like, is there another technical round, or is it more of a managerial/HR discussion? Also, how many rounds do they usually have? 🥲
And one more thinggg, are the interviews usually online or in person? If someone stays really far from the interview location, is it okay to request a virtual interview instead? Would that make any difference in the selection process? 😭
If anyone has been through their interview process, pleaseee share your experience. It would honestly help so much!! 🥹💕
Thank youuu in advance!! 🫶

JioHotstar SDE-2 Offer Lowballed, Take or not? Backend engineer (~3.5 YOE, 2023 grad, Tier ~1.5).

Current comp (Mid Sized Startup, SDE-1, Bangalore) : 24.5 LPA Base + 3L bonus(Joining) + \~12L ESOPs (4 yrs, private)
Got SDE-2 offer :
28.8 LPA Base + 3.2L variable + 3L LTI
Location: Bangalore
Expected \~30+ base, but HR seems rigid about the budget. Also expecting appraisal/promotion soon here.
Should I try negotiating further or wait and continue interviewing?
This would be my 3rd switch, so I'm also looking for a relatively stable place where I can stay longer. What's the best way to negotiate this offer further, especially on the base component?

HackerRank SDE Internship HackerRank AI Interview — Passed 13/15 Test Cases. Do I Still Have a Chance?(Round 2)
I recently attended the HackerRank AI interview for an SDE internship, and I'm a little anxious about my performance. I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through a similar experience.
Here's what happened:
- I solved the coding problem and passed 13 out of 15 test cases.
- Two hidden test cases were still failing, and I couldn't identify the exact issue.
- During the AI interview, I was asked follow-up questions about my code, including regex patterns, substring matching, case-insensitive comparisons, edge cases, and optimization.
- I explained my approach and answered the follow-up questions to the best of my ability.
I'm unsure how much importance is given to passing all test cases versus explaining the approach and reasoning during the AI interview.
I'd especially appreciate answers to these questions:
- Has anyone qualified for the next round despite having a few hidden test cases fail?
- Does the evaluation consider the AI interview responses alongside the coding test results?
- If you qualified in a similar situation, how was your coding performance, and what happened afterward?
- Does passing 13/15 test cases put me at a significant disadvantage?
I'm looking for genuine experiences, especially from candidates who have completed this assessment for an SDE internship.
Thanks in advance! 🙏

TCS digital (7.09 LPA) vs Cognizant Genc Next (6.91 LPA)
I recently received LOI for cognizant genc next and I already had TCS digital offer.
And I also got shortlisted for Infosys DSE/SP but interview date not announced yet.
So which offer would be the best to choose?
People working in these roles share your opinion. I thought of selecting Cognizant .
And what to do if I get DSE in infosys.

Anyone have insights on Tableau Analyst pay at Apple India?
Seen an open position Tableau Analyst role at Apple India recently and wanted to see if anyone knows what the total pay is like. If anyone works at Apple India or interviewed recently, what does the pay (base + stocks) actually look like for mid to senior analyst roles, and is it worth sticking with Analyst roles over DE?
