Some of the best remaining examples of this rich forest occur on private properties in the greater Tallahassee area and serve as invaluable guides to restoration on public lands. Question Weird pulsing noise??

• Upvotes

Is anyone else being woken up by a weird pulsing noise?? It almost sounds like muffled bass boosting. The sound is really difficult to describe, but I feel like if you're also hearing it, then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Any Haunted Houses/Trails?

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some spooky things to do in or around Tallahassee this weekend :)
Are there any haunted trails, haunted houses, hayrides, Halloween events, or other spooky activities happening? I’m open to pretty much anything, including smaller local events or places that might not be super well known. My friend and I are trying to get into the Halloween spirit. Thanks in advance!

Slush Puppie

Does anybody know of a gas station in or near town that has a working Slush Puppie machine? Specifically the old school style where it dispenses the flavorless ice, and you pump the concentrated flavor in by hand. Not the frozen marg style machines found frequently nowadays. Help!

for the love of your car

DO NOT GO TO MIKE’S GARAGE. I’m currently looking at recs for a new mechanic in town and the last time i’ve seen a post about Mike’s was around five years ago.

To all the new students and residents of Tally, do not for the love of GOD bring your car to Mike’s Garage. Yes, that one attached to that fuck ass gas station on Pensacola. In 2025, he held onto my car for nearly two months after spouting a bunch of bullshit about the repairs I need with a wide smile on his face. Oh and he charged me nearly $2,000 (yes, i know… played me like a damn trumpet) to KEEP MY CAR IN THE LOT STILL BROKEN DOWN. I had to return my car a day or two later after his first “OH YOUR CAR IS READY DEAR” call because it broke down AGAIN. Mind you, my car never had serious issues prior as I kept up with it.

After calling me to pick up my car, I go to the lot two days later and it’s behind five other junk cars not ready for pick up. The cashier at the time called everyone he could to come get the car for me but Mike kept saying all of his family members and workers are out of town… only for the cashier to get in touch with Mike’s son who was in town and had no idea about my car being in the lot. His son and the cashier found my keys and tried to start my car only to find out that nothing had been done after two months :) I was left stranded in town and unable to get home… on my birthday of all days.

I eventually got my car back and took it to a different mechanic who had to sit me down to tell me Mike essentially fucked my car more than it had been before, basically making it a total loss. I can’t prove it, but I almost feel like the old fuck took some parts of my car to keep for himself.

Anyway, I come to you now in 2026 after being forced to purchase a brand new vehicle for my peace of mind. Heed my warnings and go literally anywhere else. PLEASE.

What’s going on on Park Avenue tonight?

I just drove past Park Avenue downtown on Monroe a little bit ago, and they had a police car blocking off the street and a bunch of people gathered in Ponce de Leon Park. There was some big equipment, like a speaker, on the sidewalk behind the people, and they were all facing away from the street in the dark, so I couldn’t figure out what was happening.

Question Where to find affordable youth sports jerseys in Tallahassee?

Hey everyone!

I’m visiting Tallahassee and hoping to pick up a couple of sports jerseys for my son (youth small/medium).

I stopped by Dick’s Sporting Goods and saw some Florida State jerseys, but they were around $95 each, which is a little more than I’d like to spend.
Ideally looking for NBA, MLB, or NFL jerseys, but college teams would be great too. Not too picky about teams or players, just hoping to find something cool for him at a more reasonable price.

Does anyone have suggestions for local stores, outlets, or places that might carry cheaper youth jerseys?

Appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

Question Walmart oil change

Lately I been going to mavis to get my oil changed, and i have no complaints. I noticed Walmart oil change is significantly cheaper. My question is have anyone had any issues with oil changes at Walmart?? Sometimes going the cheaper route can be costly. Im just trying to stretch my pennies and save without getting my car messed up in the process. Not all oil change places are professional. In this economy i cant afford another bill.

Needing to rehome male cat- He’s been vaccinated/neutered, 1.5 years old

Hi y’all, this post really sucks to make. I adopted this 1.5 year old boy named Woody in August from a college student off facebook who took him in from her apartment cat colony. He was originally a stray and is estimated 1.5 years old by the vet, he is FeLV/FIV negative, vaccinated, neutered, and litter box trained.
He tolerates other cats, I have two other kitties that he is around, but honestly he might thrive as an only animal. He can be sweet and loves to sleep with me in bed at night, and he used to lay on my chest and come to me for affection. Even though he was a stray, he doesn’t have any desire to be outside. He is indoors fully with me…but he may do well as a barn cat in a safe area away from traffic.

Ever since I moved this semester he seems different and unhappy. My roommate has two other cats, we acclimated them after a couple weeks with smells and seeing behind closed doors and we scheduled letting them roam the house at separate times. But he honestly has not been the same since I moved. My other two kitties are fine, but Woody is closed off and seems agitated. And me and his previous foster agree this environment is stressful for him and the new cats might just be too much. It’s not fair to him, he deserves a calmer environment where he can get lots of love and care. And as a college student who also works I can’t be home 24/7

I am hoping to get him rehomed soon and want to avoid the shelter if possible since I know euthanasia is likely. If you have any questions please DM me, I really want to find him a proper home.

Rants/Raves I had a bad feeling.

Years ago I was at clippers near Famu. My barber offered me a free haircut. I had a bad feeling some call it the sixth sense, some call it the Holy Spirit. In any case I left. Five minutes later my barber TJ was shot in the head in front of his son in the middle of the shop. I would have been in the chair. Does anyone remember this?Has anyone had an experience where an inner notion saved them from a perilous experience?

SpaceX Launch This Morning - Resupply Mission to the International Space Station

Photos I captured this morning of SpaceX's Resupply Mission to the International Space Station. Most rockets look like this during the daytime, but the ability to see this is hidden by the daylight glow of our atmosphere. When the sun is below the horizon, but the rocket is high enough to be illuminated by the sun, you can get these jaw dropping sights.
