How To: Colour Code and Censor for Easy Readability

As promised, a permasticky for how best to dress up your content for submission! This is a quick and dirty guide to help make the effort of editing a smooth process for all.

All you need is Paint, and if your machine doesn't have it, GIMP or another lightweight equivalent is great - anything with a box fill tool works best.

Hot Tip: Leave the Party Number visible to better track conversations and context!

Quick Examples

Least Effort: Initials Only (abbreviations optionally added)
Colour Coded (Blue Tanks, Green Healers, Red DPS - additional members of a certain role can use an off-colour, or be the same if the number is visible)
Blackbox (but Job Icons and/or Abbreviations need to be visible!)
The Ol' Fashioned (contrasting Job name colours for better visibility)

How To: Job Icons and Coloured Job Names

  1. Open Character Configuration (through System; PC uses 'K' by default)
  2. Sidebar, Log Window Settings. Tab, General.
  3. Click on the "Name Display Settings" button to open its window.
  4. Customize as desired! See above for some ideas (ie. Name Display Type set to Initials, adding Job abbreviations). Hit Apply when you're done.
Name Display Settings: the game does it for you!

How To: Adding New Tabs and the Log Filter (De-cluttering Chatlogs)

a. Click on the plus "+" icon near your chat bar to make a new chat tab.

  1. Open Character Configuration
  2. Sidebar, Log Window Settings. Tab, General. Scroll to the bottom!
  3. Click on the Chat Tab you want to edit, and Apply when you're done.
Chat Tabs and Log Filters: no need to mess up your main tab, have a dedicated spot for all relevant chat channels!

How To: Avoid Colour Bleed (Chat Opacity) and Add Timestamps

  1. Open Character Configuration

  2. Sidebar, Log Window Settings. Tab, Log Details.

  3. For opacity, lower value = darker. Feel free to experiment for best results, but if you want a "dark mode transparent" chatbox around 20-30 works best.

  4. For timestamps, simply tick on the "Add timestamps to messages" box for each/every desired chat channel. These can apply retroactively if you're not a fan of seeing them at all times but want to add additional context to a post.

Log Window Transparency and Timestamps are your best friends when it comes to boosting readability and giving context.

How To: Make an FFLogs Anonymous

FFLogs has a handy anonymous mode to cut down on having to edit screenshots.

Positive tale To the Sam from Ultros...

To the Sam from Ultros, you know who you are. Running ahead of me, the tank, and pulling every other pack while using Arm's Length as the Lala in a bear suit my hats off to you. I know we already talked about this in the duty, but thank you for making my last mentor rolo of the night a good one.

I'm still in shock from this, it's such a small interaction but I'm aghast

Expert roulette, load into the clyteum, I'm healing, lets go. We finish the FIRST PULL. and tank says this and instantly vanishes. It didn't feel any different from a normal pull! I have no idea what he thinks would have been fast enough.

Our replacement tank loaded in pretty quick after that and was great! But holy hell what kind of insane ultimate parser asshat do you have to be....

Just kinda tired of emoters in PvP

I get not everyone cares to PvP. I used to be way too into it and got extremely salty when my team wouldn’t fight or go for an objective. Now, after taking time away from it I’m learning to just have fun and be a murder hobo (currently playing mech, but main nin). What is now bothersome is seeing people just refuse to participate, whether it’s just running the edge of the map or standing in the middle of nowhere and dancing. I get that some people don’t wanna do the minimum requirement for stuff nowadays, but why queue for something you’re just going to afk in. Guess I’m putting to much logic into this thought

No job stone Get a job stone? No. Macro every spell? Y E S

Ran into someone in Haukke who had decided to macro a message to practically every spell (but not raise), including the attack spells.

I'm not a native German speaker, so all I have are loose translations:

  • CNJ spam:
    • Hang on <TANK>! I'm healing you.
    • Pull through my friends! It will soon be better.
    • I'll blow you away Lady Amandine!
    • Eat that Lady Amandine!

Actual conversation in between all the macro spam:

  • CNJ: Would you stop overpulling
  • MNK: When you give up the macros :V

after the DRK went down outside the last cell, which was a good try, we didn't wipe, but maybe a bit optimistic for the group, certainly not something they needed negative feedback over.

Edit: Since it's come up so much: They were a level 37 CNJ, synced down to level 31.

The Job quests unlock after a level 20 MSQ, and Haukke is at level 28 MSQ, so everyone in there has done the prerequisite MSQ for getting a job stone.

I don't know how many, if any, of their class quests they've done, but Cure 2 is a level 30 class quest unlock, which, going by the amount of Cure 1 they were throwing around, was not something they had unlocked.

So we could've had a level 31 WHM throwing Cure 2, but we got a level 31 CNJ throwing Cure 1 with a ich heile dich message macro.

Toxic healer

So I’ve been playing for years and am not a sprout by any means, but I am super new to tanking. I just started leveling PLD recently and queued for a leveling roulette this morning. Pop into Dzemael Darkhold, friendly greetings between me and the two bards and we get moving.

I pulled wall to wall. Stop to work the mob down and notice despite using my mits the sage is not shielding or healing me at all and my health is dropping to where I’m about to die.

Then the Sage rescues me out of the mob and starts sprinting towards the boss. They pull the boss when nobody else is even in the room. I immediately die to the still existing mob. Sprout bard tries to fight the boss and the sage lets them die too while they shield themselves and solo the boss. Shoot a message in chat saying hey, I’m new to PLD and not comfortable pulling everything into the boss arena.

Their response was, “Just do it.” I say more firmly I don’t want to do that. They respond with “fine by me,” but I gather this was, in fact, NOT fine by them as they proceeded not to shield or heal me for the majority of the rest of the dungeon. I died another two times despite using what mits I have at this level.

I couldn’t initiate a vote dismiss as every time I tried to stop for a second to do so, they sprinted ahead to pull more enemies and refused to roll on loot so. This was probably intentional.

Anyway, first time in a long time I’ve dealt with such a pushy person griefing for no reason. Thankfully, the two bards were supportive, told me to do what I’m comfortable with and one said they noticed the Sage was intentionally letting me die. I reported the behavior. But unfortunately, maybe im overreacting but I’m nervous to queue as a tank again despite knowing most people aren’t like this. Just wanted to share.

Discussion I feel bad for so many of you posting here...

I've only discovered this sub recently and been going through some of the posts and by god....it truly is a different game for some people.

like some comments have said before, 98% of my dungeons look like this:

o/

hi

(^・o・^)ノ” WELCOME TO THE KITTENCOPTER ✨ ALL ABOARD THE TRANSOCEANIC FLIGHT TO VICTORY

*15 minutes later*

gg

tyfp

WE'VE ARRIVED AT OUR FINAL DESTINATION MEOW!!! THANK YOU FOR TRAVELlNG WITH US ₍˄·͈༝·͈˄₎◞ ̑̑

and then I open Reddit and I see some weirdo having a power trip cause ppl didn't say hi 0.484728282 seconds into the dungeon at 6am, or someone being one YPYT argument away from serving life in prison for cannibalism... where do you find these people???? the worst I've seen is ppl arguing about dragon positioning in CT, but never to this extent... what the hell?? (I'm on Zodiark @ Light btw. if that makes a difference?)

EDIT: upon retrospective analysis, it seems that this is, in fact, not a normal occurrence, which makes me happy. And also sad, because based on some of these replies it's only a matter of time before I end up posting here too... look forward to it!

Salt Am I the a-hole?

So, this happened a few months ago, but I only recently discovered this thread, so forgive me for not having pictures or if I remember the exact wording slightly wrong.

So, I got an IRL friend interested, they decided to start with Archer, so I, usually a SMN main, swapped to SGE to help them through some early game dungeons with some quick queue times, and while I could've done SCH, I was rusty with it and didn't feel confident, but that's not the point of this post.

We do a few dungeons, going through MSQ for my friend, then we get to Thousand Maws of Toto Rak, which has a real long cutscene for first timers at the end. We go through, everything seems fine, then we get to the final boss, I do my usual thing of standing just inside the boss barrier, but not moving any further until everyone is done with their cs, when the PLD and DRG rush in to fight the boss. I say in party chat "Hey! We still have a sprout in cs!" but they probably don't see it due to fighting. I proceed to not heal, hoping for a wipe to reset for my friend to experience the boss fight like they were hoping to. PLD goes down, and DRG nearly dies when they pop LB, killing the boss. The conversation goes something like this:

DRG: So we're you just gonna let everyone die?

Me: I was kinda hoping for a wipe so we could reset for the sprout still in CS

DRG: You need to check your ego, holding back heals is a dick move

DRG then leaves before anything else can be said, while PLD remained on the floor waiting for a revive. My friend finally exits cs, expresses their disappointment in not being able to fight the boss, and, admittedly, this was me being petty and salty, I leave without reviving the PLD, since I was thinking "screw the both of them, the PLD can just use the return to start option."

Needless to say this incident caused my friend to swap from Archer to Conjurer/WHM, so no one could ever do that to them again, since they can't just leave their healer out of a boss fight.

((Edit: Roughly 8 hours after initial post, thanks for all who commented, I went into this expecting a lot of "YTA" since even I acknowledge I could've handled that better, (even had to look up what ESH means since I haven't looked at much AITA posts before), thanks for all the advice, constructive criticism, as well as warnings, even if some of you didnt mean them as such, that I was griefing without knowing, I'm still fairly new myself, having started the game a only year ago (man time flies when enjoying a game), so I wasn't aware that what I did was an offense, not that it excuses my behavior. I will make sure to keep all of this in mind for the future to both try and avoid situations like this, and also handle said situations better than I did previously if I can't avoid them

Stone Vigil. Had 2 ranged with us that ran ahead and returned with the mobs they grabbed. Tank grabbed them and we burned them down. I don't even think they were premade cause we were all in different servers/data centers.

I noticed that the Tank only sprinted when I sprinted. Maybe to make sure I wouldn't lose her in my line of sight? Idk. I might be in love.

Novice Hall dropout Returner DRK clueless about tank stance in Gubal Library

Long time lurker, first timer poster. I'm the NIN in this story, and this was from a week ago.

I was doing roulette, and I had this tank who was completely clueless about tank stance, and we proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes trying to get them to turn on Grit. I never checked their search info but in no way should you be clueless about tanking essential in a lv 60 dungeon, returner OR not.

Idm teaching sprouts because I was a sprout once and my friends taught me how to play the game, and I'd like to do the same, but I also don't really want to be spending 10 minutes teaching a player what their basics are. It's nice they were apologetic about it and it's fine if you're rusty after returning to the game, but isn't that more of a reason to brush up skills and basics before doing content? They really need to make Hall of Novice mandatory...

After we finally managed to get them to turn on Grit, it went ok. Hopefully they actually went to do Hall of Novice tho. I'd be upset if I get into a dungeon and be clueless about my skills.

I seek answers

Post image
130 Upvotes

Honestly a nothing burger but in short: I queued for MSQ roulette at unholy morning hours, tank vanished before the first boss, but because it's Castrum of all duties I decided to just engage. Healer who was otherwise only using Cure so far, decides to now only cast Stone, letting me and the MCH be tickled to death. Now usually I wouldn't mind at all if it was a new healer or if they simply spoke with tact, but the sudden passive aggressive tone, together with the fact that they were deliberately avoiding healing anyone, felt uncalled for. Especially because they are a max level WHM whose Cure II recovers 80% of my health. The tank reconnected a while later and we trudged through the duty with the WHM never casting Stone/Holy again.

And so I come seeking answers. I was informed that, after all these years of playing this game, I had the wrong understanding the whole time. For only a Tank, may tank. In my pursuit of enlightenment, I beseeched them to impart their wisdom, only to be left with dismal silence.

Why dosnt' it work like that?

(To clarify this was just an interaction I found peculiar. I am being entirely facetious and yes I could have definitely been more polite)

Discussion Was told “f*ck y’all” at the end of the dungeon

Sorry for no pics! And I’ll try to make this short 😅

So basically at 8am this morning I’m trying to do high level dungeon roulette for my relic weapon. I get in and it’s “The Twinning” (lvl 80 end dungeon) and the GNB/SAM are new. I (SCH) and MCH have ran it before.

Me and the GNB are chatty, all is good and we get to the final boss. Alexander raid music ensues, the boss LOOKS like Alexander and has a lot of the mechanics from the raid. SAM and GNB are collecting vuln stacks (which is fine, I love a challenge and they’re new) but they end up both dying.

I throw everything on the MCH, pick up the tank and he immediately vokes, so I throw a crit shield on him and try to save the MCH (I think they either died to boss or mechs and I did have my fairy on them)

At this rate it’s just me and the tank. He has rez sickness, there’s a party wide that I have to heal through and I’m just watching my swiftcast cooldown so I can grab another dps. At this rate, the boss is at %0.05< health so I just decide to power heal and finish off the boss. If I can I’ll grab someone I will but I’m not gonna hard cast.

Fight ends, we say “ggs”. I apologize to the MCH and say “I really tried to keep you up!” (Because I think it’s an amazing feat as a healer to keep up a dps thats tanking)

SAM (who’s from Gilgamesh) just goes “fuck yall” and leaves… no context or anything. I didn’t report because clearly they’re having a bad day, but I did want to reach out to them to figure out what the problem was and that they needed to be careful or they COULD be reported. I don’t think they were a sprout, and I never checked their jobs ect. My guess is that they’re relatively new and have no idea how healing works? Did they really think I should have rezzed them over the tank? I’ll never know 😭 so I guess I wanted to post here to share a story and maybe try to get yalls perspective on why they’d be pissed lol my feelings aren’t hurt in the slightest, I’m legit confused!

Communication done right, an almost oops, and a "Hmm..." in one run.

Queue a leveling roulette run for Haukke Manor.

I've read people on console using messages like these before, but it was my first time seeing one and earned a commend from me for how clear the intentions were -

Good job, newbie tank. The rest of the run's chat I decided to keep because of the other parts of it just to flesh out the tale a bit.

First, I almost let the tank die on the first wall to wall because sometimes I forget I have to spend a good chunk of my time spamming Diagnosis in low level dungeons. Can't use a big cooldown and spam AoEs when I don't have them! Derp.

Second, and this is the "Hmm...." part of it, was the 39 LNC in party that was mostly spamming their ranged attack. Piercing Talon over and over and over, and then randomly it would be Bloodlust/Arm's Length/FULL THRUST (emphasis here, because that is the 3rd hit of the basic 1-2-3 combo for those not overly fluent in DRG. I'm definitely not, but I know what that attack looks like) before going back to Piercing Talon spam.

Oddly enough, as stated in the screenshot, this isn't the first time I've come across this exact thing once before. I don't recall if it was a LNC or DRG, but I remember seeing that weird play before. Anyone know if this is some sort of odd bot behavior? And just to curb the "should have kicked them!" comments, I didn't notice until during the first boss fight, and the LNC opened the chest and every one thereafter which would have prevented the kick. That and between the tank, SMN and myself, it went along quickly enough because Haukke isn't long to begin with.

Dusk Vigil at 12pm on a Friday, now I'm just confused.

First pull and the tank almost dies. SGE apologizes and I thought maybe they weren't paying attention, so we carry on.

First boss, tank has low health throughout, and the next pull the tank dies but we manage to pull it off (shoutout to the sprout MNK for pulling aggro on everything!!) and we continue onwards.

I'm noticing that every boss the tank has abysmally low health, and in mob pull the tank is taking a lot of damage quickly, to the point I (RDM) am having to cast Addle on a mob to avoid a wipe. Tank says something like "I don't remember this dungeon hitting so hard!" and at this point, I figure it's a product of playing SGE at level 52. Then this exchange happens.

They were honestly pretty nice and apologetic about the whole thing, and we were almost all the way through when they said it, so no one felt like votekicking. I just finished the dungeon, comm'd the poor tank, and now I'm just really confused about it all.

Novice Hall dropout DF just keeps getting worse

[Warning: Wall of Text]

So I've been doing my roulettes with a friend lately because end-of-expansion Duty Finder is just hell on earth, and this way I know there's at least one competent player with me. Usually things go okay enough to just shrug them off, but yesterday's roulettes were special. No chat logs for this one because I didn't take any screenshots and barely anything was said anyway, and no fflogs because I'm a filthy console player.

First, expert roulette. I'm a Warrior, my friend is a Samurai.

We are paired with another Samurai and a Sage, finding ourselves in Mistwake. Nice, I've been growing tired of the Clyteum.

Right off the bat, it turns out that the Sage is one of those really cautious healers, spamming me with Eukrasian Diagnosis. This is slightly insulting for a Warrior, but it's whatever since I also see Kardia healing going off. At least they're dealing some damage.

The run is mostly uneventful so far except for my realisation that this Sage doesn't really let me use Bloodwhetting because I'm pretty much always at full health due to the shield spam. Well, it's better than letting people die, right?

After the second boss, my friend needs to fix some internet issues and we continue to the next pull without her. Which takes forever to die - now, I know very little of Samurai and nothing on the random one's rotation looked weird to me, but even considering that a whole DPS is missing, the pull drags on for much longer than expected. I just want to be done with this run already.

My friend returns and we move on to the second pull. The one with all the AOEs every couple seconds... which don't even hurt that much, so I just shove myself into a corner and eat them. Gives me an excuse to properly use my cooldowns, including Shake it Off because both Samurai are staying with me and eating AOEs too. Good.

I guess the Sage isn't too thrilled about us taking harmless, yet avoidable damage, because when the two Samurai are getting hit by lines at the last boss, the Sage isn't healing them at all. My friend dies at some point and gets revived, but she's not getting healed up, so I toss a Nascent Flash her way. Then the other Samurai is at low health, the Sage isn't doing anything and Nascent is still on cooldown, so I can't save them from the next raidwide and they die.

We clear the dungeon, the Sage leaves almost instantly, and I'm left thinking... Are they a powertripping asshole, or just stupid? Guess I'll never know, but I hope I won't see them again.

Next, it's leveling roulette. I'm staying on Warrior, my friend switches to White Mage.

We load into the Skydeep Cenote, a dungeon I personally like a lot, my friend however isn't thrilled because she hates the sound effects of persona-type enemies and was probably glad to have dodged those in the Clyteum. But spooky baby ghosts are the least of our problems in this run.

Our DPS are a Reaper and a Bard, and the latter is kicking things off with... Army's Paeon? Okay, not the song you would usually start with, but at least they're singing. It's more than I can say about many other Bards I've encountered in the last couple weeks.

The first pull takes absurdly long to die. So long in fact that I have Rampart back for the second pull. At some point, I notice that the Reaper hasn't applied Death's Design to anything. Oh no. This is gonna be a long ride.

We reach the first boss. Death's Design is still nowhere to be seen, and the Bard applies only the poison dot, but not the wind dot. Both DPS also get hit by a lot of avoidable stuff - mind you, there are no firsttimers in the party. The Bard dies a few times while the Reaper is kept alive through a total of six vuln stacks, thanks to the combined efforts of Nascent Flash and Divine Benison.

While we slowly plough through the next pulls, I predict the final boss to be a dumpster fire and a half, so I tell my friend that if we get the multistack tower while both DPS are dead, I'll solo it with Holmgang. Can't be too cautious, now.

The second boss is more of the same, but at least the Reaper gets hit by Mirrow Maneuver only twice before realising that following the Warrior is probably safe for this mechanic. At least they're learning something.

During the single pack after the second boss, I ask "[Bard], can you LB the next pull please?" and receive... no reaction. They turn out to be a PS5 player and probably don't have a keyboard - fine, as long as they end up LBing.

...which they don't. The party menu lists the Bard as German and their search comment also says "Deutsch", so my friend sends an auto-translated message. Still no LB. "...guess not", I say, to which my friend replies: "Yeah, single targeting is more important apparently". Ouch. I haven't even noticed that. No wonder the pulls drag on.

We reach the final boss. As predicted, the first deaths happen very early with the DPS getting yeeted by the halfroom cleave and the knockback circle respectively. The deaths don't end there, once both DPS have Brink of Death, they won't lose it for the rest of the fight. Combined with their lackluster rotations, you can probably imagine how long the fight ends up taking. At some point, the Reaper says that the mechanics are too fast for them, and they apologise for dying so much. At least they're trying their best, even if their best is still pretty bad.

No such thing can be said about the Bard, however. They eventually just seem to give up as they're not even attempting to move out of the blue instant death circle or the halfroom cleaves anymore. My friend responds with raising them only once per minute or so. Bless her, I'd have left the Bard on the floor.

Both my friend and I are eating through our respective cooldowns like candy, until we end up having a stack marker with three people and zero mitigation. Maybe it's a blessing that the Bard didn't LB the pull earlier, because now we have a tank LB when every other resource has tried up. Imagine needing a tank LB in a leveling dungeon.

Eventually, the boss dies of old age. Usually, we send our "gg"s and leave, but instead my very much tilted friend says: "You guys made me age 20 years", and honestly, I can't blame her. This run was exhausting.

...at least the remaining roulettes are fairly uneventful. Which we absolutely need.

Long time listener, first time caller!

Hard queued into Cutter's Cry after finishing my roulettes while leveling Ninja on a Free Trial alt account I have, trying to get everything up to 80 in the lull before Evercold.

For some reason, the other DPS and Healer were very adamant that the Tank use their 123 instead of AoE on trash, believing that the heal(or shield) from Souleater/Storm's Path/Brutal Shell more valuable to the party than...dealing damage to all targets.

I hope that my editor's notes within the images is enough to give context on what was happening / my thoughts, but I can also answer any questions in the comments below.

This was a weird one, man.

Positive tale Turns out, they aren't all bad -

I don't play RDM, what little I know about it comes from leveling it, capping it, and then never touching it again, but for some reason a RDM hard-casting their 2.5 second long casts or however long they are always sticks out like a sore thumb to me and for some reason I feel the need to try and help.

Today, I had a positive experience with one!

Much to my own detriment, however, as I had to try and heal an obviously learning tank while being excited to help a guy out that was receptive to it. Tank almost died when I didn't keep up because I was too busy typing. Whoops! 😅

A positive TalesFromDF post? Egads!

So this is abit of a long one, So I saw a call for help in Novice network, Didn't really look at the name just joined que and hopped in

upon joining ((yes, I typo'd Lali Ho,)) I was met with this message followed by the person just leaving the instance. It was only after I checked the name

its this member of novice who blacklists any mentor who Disagrees with her, I personally am blocked because I told someone else in novice 2 months ago that I wasn't sure on something from ARR And said the wiki would know for sure, she piped up and said the wiki isn't a good resource because she can't alt tab because she's on a mac. All I did was tell her that instead it was command+Tab

I have found out that she dm's people about me when I Talk in novice, That she un blacklisted me to "Keep tabs on me" because she believes that I am badmouthing and bullying her behind her back and apparently has Reported me to her local police who told her that I am breaking INTERNATIONAL LAWS

All this to join a POTD have her slander me then have to explain to two randoms why she's mad at me.

This behavior is so wild to me.

edit

I just wanted to thank you all for confirming I’m not crazy I’ve had quite a few know abit about this even from other data centers

I have reached out to gms I’m attempting to have a conversation with one to try to resolve this, it’s more then an NN issue the hate speech and vitriol she speaks is lies and she tries to spread them as far as she can so people who haven’t even met me have some idea I’m a bad person, thank you all for the support

**Edit 2**

I Was finally able to speak with a GM! I have provided all dates and times and everything, So hopefully my nightmare will end soon and I can get back to just helping people.

Mistwake CNJ success story?

Only posting this because usually you'd see a CNJ in Mistwake & immediately jump to nightmare scenarios.

Queued into an in-progress Mistwake on Mentor Roulette, 1st boss. Shrug, until I saw it.

CNJ.

Conversation ensues, and thankfully they respond. Realize ah crap, you can't equip job stones in duty. The important part though, is that they DID respond, and GENUINELY didn't know about gearsets I guess? One class to 100, returner icon, mostly 745 gear, new to the duty. 100k HP, but I don't think that's because of job stone? I tried taking it off on WHM out of duty after, and there didn't seem to be much difference in HP. If anyone has insight on that, could they post in the comments? Maybe broken gear? Probably first tank saw the wipe & noped out.

Now this is a personal challenge to me. Here we have a very new player that probably bought a level skip, and doesn't have any idea how most of the game's systems work. There doesn't seem to be anything they can do about it (I didn't think about gear repair until after), and they don't seem even remotely like a bad person. I don't wear the mentor crown, but I do the roulette, just for something random & fun. THIS is what we live for.

First boss goes as expected, CNJ dies. I Phoenix Down when able. Dies again, it's fine. I'm a BiS WAR who knows their toolkit; Nascent is my friend, Rep used wisely, Shake It Off buffed. Two normal wall-to-wall pulls, no respectable WAR can't do that without support. 2nd boss, they die to first raidwide. Nobody else seems to have Phoenix Down, mine's on CD. I use it when I can, DNC dies & respawns, CNJ dies again, solo the last 6%, we good. Two more np wall-to-walls, more dying on last boss, more Phoenix Down. DRG & I finish I think like 40% ourselves?

Everyone in this instance was a champ. Both DPS awesome for sticking around, healer grateful, seemed genuinely lost with the game, and understanding to look more into it. If you were in that instance, you are all beautiful people. It's easy to get depressed & defensive seeing all the stories here, which while admittedly entertaining, so I thought I'd share this to have something a little brighter. Some people are worth toughing it out for, even if it's a bit of a drag. I haven't felt so alive doing roulettes in months. To that CNJ, I hope you find nice people out there who will be patient with you. Ask questions, and don't feel bad about it. There's a lot to absorb.

As an addendum if anyone asks about it, this guy actually tried to DPS. Their casts consisted of 107 Stone II, 24 Cure II, 13 Swiftcast, 13 Aero II, 3 Lucid Dreaming, 32% uptime I think mostly due to dying. 760DPS. I'm not gonna add up the time, but it shows an actual effort to do damage and heal. I think they had some trouble when damage went out, or after being raised, getting the right buttons & healing in time. They wouldn't have Holy as a CNJ, and the lack of Medica made keeping the party alive harder (read: using Nascent on CD), but they try. I get it; at that level they should know better, but for once I want to give them the chance. They can probably do great once they pick the game up more.
