I assume that means the Picklr facility in the old Big Lots store on Pearl will never open.

Stopped and took this on the way home from the gym yesterday (near 6th & Jackson). Just your everyday PNW beauty.

I’ve been noticing a ton of empty commercial spaces around Tacoma recently. I know Fred Meyer is leaving—or has already left—one location, but it feels like there are vacant buildings everywhere.
Is this mostly because of high rent, businesses moving out, changing shopping habits, or something else going on with Tacoma’s commercial real estate market? Does anyone here know what’s behind it?

Just saw a post on insta about a new EDM club, unsure on the name but it’s going in the building at 726 Pac Ave and allegedly opening on the 26th.
I’m very excited about this, I know there’s been a few posts regarding the lack of EDM spots here.
(The post was from Dubseamusic on IG)
Edit: club’s name is Mass.

A family member took this photo of house on fire near the corner of North 10th St and Jackson. About 7 AM prior to arrival of emergency services. Google map shows it as the Sunset Estate, A Luxury Short Term Rental and Extended Stay.

Been feeling pretty shitty lately, and stumbled across this gem on 6th Ave. Can't lie, it ironically (or unironically?) spoke to me.
Funny how the dumbest little things can give you a much needed kick in the ass sometimes.
So whoever's out there putting up motivational stickers on 6th Ave, thanks for your service dude. I needed it!
Love you Tacoma. 🙂

Anyone know the recipe for the tzatziki sauce on the gyros this weekend? It was much creamier than what I get in restaurants. Trying to recreate at home. Opa!

St Leo’s supports 100s of people seeking food, clothing and financial resources almost every day.
We are looking for clothing donations, like sweats and warmer clothing as the season changes. We also always need tarps and sleeping bags.
If you have things to donate, please stop by with your donations at the st Leo’s business office around noon to 3pm (which is when it is staffed) every weekday.
Thank you!

Someone's lost pup? Not interested in me or blind melon.
Stopped by for lunch on Friday and ate too much. The food was delicious and the smells made me want to eat everything. Everybody was so friendly. I highly recommend checking it out, today is the last day!

I have one rental unit in Tacoma (a condo I used to live in) and I'm also a tenant renting an apartment so I'm trying to dig into this initiative. I just moved into an apartment and I'm quite surprised by the amount of extra fees we have to pay. Parking, the power for the building in addition to our unit, fees to pay the fees. It's insane. This initiative doesn't seem to do anything to address those issues that add about $600 a month to our monthly rent. I'd have to unionize with my neighbors to bargain with my landlord. Does anyone have any experience being part of a tenant union?
I want to learn more about some of the specifics about Measure 1 before I decide how I will vote, but there are no specifics in the full initiative... They want to require a per unit license. The Tacoma City Manager estimates that this initiative will cost the city $8 to $10 million dollars. Tacoma For All Campaign Manager Ty Moore has said the program would likely cost $1 million a year. Those are some wildly different numbers.
It seems like the city of Tacoma has around 41,000 rental units, so at $10 million it would be $238 per unit per year, at $1 million it would be $25 a year. The city already requires that landlords have a state business license (I pay $50 annually) and City of Tacoma business license (I pay $190). Would landlords still be required to purchase those other licenses? How much will these licenses cost landlords?
The other question I have is... how will these new per unit license fee not be passed onto tenants? How will this not raise my rent?
Thanks in advance for the info!

Long lines this weekend. We asked why it was so busy and were informed that the lease was up for renewal and Bruno decided not to not to sign. Last day will be this Saturday.
Bruno's was such a throwback restaurant. My parent's loved to bring friends there and the Hangover soup was one of a kind.

On M Street and South Tacoma Way. Blue building, boarded up but with paintings of dogs with "Happy Fur Baby Inn." Surely this is not a boarding facility? Looks like it used to be a Red Cross training facility?
I need to know.

Good place to donate old definitely used/worn and some other in good condition books and good condition textbooks? Looking mostly to just drop off a box or two and dip. Nothing special just wanting to get rid of all at once and I know some places don't take textbooks or used worn books.

Hello everyone. Question. I just moved to the hilltop and was wondering if the area has a ton of trick-or-treaters. I want to buy enough candy and Capri Suns for all the little ghouls and ghosts that may stop by.
Thanks
