Hi, I'm Gio the developer of macbat.app
I didn't understand why macOS took so much space with system files and for the past month I've been working on a project to investigate what those files are and what we can delete.
Now that the project is more mature I'm publishing the app for free (notarized!) and open-source.
I hand-designed the backend around a modular architecture. Each module describes its screens through a declarative UI layer, and a shared SwiftUI renderer turns those descriptions into the actual interface.
I also built the UI around reusable components, custom transitions, animations, and a centralized design system rather than having each module implement its own views.
Whenever I found that macOS did something better with AppKit, though, I chose to use AppKit instead of forcing everything through SwiftUI, so some elements of the app make it look like a native mac utility.
I also hand-designed the UI :)
