I reckon something from Lenovo would be the best fit here. Perhaps a Lenovo Legion 5i. Or maybe an Acer Nitro.

There's always Mac on the board as well, as they are usually optimal for this sort of work. If possible, I really recommend getting one of those, although I'm not sure about the compatibility of MacOS and the software you'll require.

If you're looking for specifically Windows laptops:
- ASUS Vivobook S 16
- Lenovo ThinkPad T14
Both have capacitive touch screen and some of their options would fit within your specifications (links are meant to only be suggestions).

Eventually you can settle for a MacBook, as if you can survive without a touchscreen, it'd probably be the best idea for your needs.

Something like a Lenovo LOQ or Acer Nitro.

Perhaps something like a Lenovo Legion? Or eventually Lenovo LOQ if you still want to stick with Lenovo but don't want that specific one. If you want to step away from Lenovo, there are ones like ASUS TUF.

Plenty to choose from:
- ASUS Vivobook 16
- ASUS TUF F16
- Gigabyte Gaming A16
And more. Macs are pretty slim and it's hard to find Windows laptops like that around, but some of these should fit within your specs.

Get a refurbished/used ThinkPad T series from a trusted eBay seller. You can get one for under $500 easy for your modest needs. The T series ONLY as it has Mission Critical build quality. It will last 10+ years after you get it.

While you explicitly listed Windows, I would still recommend to concider Mac. I think MB Air is the only laptop that reliably covers all your needs. For Windows side, it's either untested build quality - besides some premium business laptops I am not avare of any long lasting laptops, or battery problems - 8-10h of real life usage means that the laptop should be either snapdragon device (still sometimes buggy) or combination of latest processor and ~75Wh battery, or lacking performance - laptops up to 1300 with good battery life just can't perform nearly as good as M4 or M5 chips.

The only laptop I can somewhat recommend - Lenovo Thinkpad T14 gen 6 with lunar lake (link). It is somewhat a fit for all your needs, but even this far from best configuration priced 1500 euros

I’ve been looking at that exact one, but I’ve been trying to search for used/refurbished ones.

I was gonna either bite the bullet or wait for a sale, still debating

I bought macbook m4 last year for 1Lakh, and not even once regret it, but keep in mind that macbook is absolutely not for gaming, other than gaming it excels in every other aspects compared to windows, Battery? Easily 2 days on normal use and 1 whole day for continuous work Display? I sit outdoors and no issue at all, Its really smooth and UI animation and all is really next level compared to windows glitches.

$600 is gonna get you something a bit older and used. Most animation software needs decent hardware as you will be rendering and software like blender requires at least a 4gb gpu. Most of the time I have both blender and krita open which tends to eat cpu, ram and gpu (mainly from blender). A Lower end laptop is around $900ish before tax.

I know this is suggest a laptop but since you are not gonna take it anywhere I can recommend a mini pc that’s capable for what you are looking to do and around your budget new.

I suggest a used T16 from a trusted eBay seller with Free Returns just in case. A seller with a couple thousand feedback & a 99.5%+ rating is how I roll.

You could probably get $300 for that laptop. It’s ok for basic web browsing and general school use. Put both what you want to spend and that money towards a better unit. Because again for under $500 it’s gonna be worse than what you have and very dated. A legion LOQ is roughly $999 before tax. You might find a used gaming one for around $650ish if you’re lucky.

That's the standard price of a legion 5 with 16GB RAM and a 5060M. But that's a legion 5i pro, so it's actually on a fair sale. It's just not really easy to call such low specifications "worth" it.

None of those. ThinkPad T16 only if you want a guaranteed 5+ years lifespan.
