Discussion Are we and have we always overpaid for cars?

The speed limit in most countries is a maximum of 100 mph, but most cars have top speeds much higher than that. I'm assuming this is how fast the car can actually go. If so, the car needs the engine capacity to reach those speeds, along with the chassis, instrumentation and other requirements. All of this is built into the price you pay. So my question is: if the speed limit doesn't let me use any of the excess, why build it in the first place, and why ask customers to pay for it?

Just changed engine oil, car isn't quieter it's making me worried. It's a toyota yaris cross 2022. owners manual says 0w-8 JASO GLV-1, put in WESTWAY LUBRICANT 0W-8 JASO GLV-1.

About ten miles ran so far, It was quiet after the last oil change, Recently become loud when oil maintenance alert came on, thought changing oil would make it quieter again. But it sounds the same.

Any advice?

The speed limit in most countries is a maximum of 100 mph but most cars have been given top speeds much higher than that which I’m assuming is how fast the car can actually go but if that’s the case a car will have engine capacity to do so and all the other requirements such as chassis and instrumentation being added as well all of which must be built into the cost of the car one’s paying for, so my question is if the speed limit in most countries doesn’t let me utilise any of the excess why build it in the first place and secondly why ask customers to pay for it?
