Program Transfer Applied maths

Hey i’m currently studying applied maths in RUG, and i’m having lots of difficulties with catching up with syllabus. I failed all my midterm exams in Calculus, Linear Algebra and Sets and Numbers.

Im considering in switching degree programs to Econometrics. I noticed that EOR has lots of courses similar to the ones in Applied maths.

My question is if i struggled while studying these courses in applied maths, is the level of mathematics a lot easier in terms of proofs ( and generally) for EOR?

Im willing to put in the work to study EOR but my main concern is if i can even transfer degree programs or if its too late ?

If there is anyone that faces or faced similar issues please dm me. Im very interested in studying at RUG so any help would be gladly appreciated.

Moving to the Netherlands as a student requires a lot of admin (BSN, gemeente, health insurance, Studielink, banking, scholarships) and it often feels overwhelming.

"Im willing to put in the work to study EOR"

why werent you "willing to put in the work to study" math? why do you think this time its going to be any different? And yes, a lot of the courses are similar. Econometrics has a lot of math. If you struggled with math in applied math, then you will struggle with math in Econometrics, its the same math. There is tons of Calculus and Linear Algebra in Econometrics as well as probability and statistics.

Calculus and Linear Algebra is the base of all STEM. it sounds like you probably shouldnt even be in stem

I don't think that math in econometrics or any STEM courses is gonna be that similar to math in applied math. Generally (applied) math degrees mostly focus on proofs, while other STEM courses focus mostly on computations, making the whole experience completely different.

1, econometrics will have proofs too.
2, OP is failing Calculus and Linear Algebra, let alone more advanced math. how will OP be able to handle differential equations and stochastic processes?

It is hard on a lot of people. Can you really not just try the resits (for maybe 1 or 2 courses) and maintain your other courses?

What you can do is drop out and start the EOR degree next year, I think there is no such thing as a transfer in here

I also failed all midterms btw :)
