Vet inte riktigt vars jag skulle vända mig för detta men för någon dag sedan så scrollade jag på Instagram och fick upp reklam för en kväll nu mitt i veckan häng någonstans vid kanske Hornstull? där man betalade runt en 500 kr för att komma och måla, äta tacos och socialisera med folk.

I think the general response to recent meetup initiatives has really highlighted that people are open to alternative ways of meeting someone. I suppose not everyone has the time or energy to commit to a social event though. Hell, even writing a post can sometimes feel daunting :D

So I thought we could have one thread where everyone can write a bit about themselves in the comments, and if someone catches your interest, you can just send them a DM and see where things go.

I suppose age, gender, and what kind of connection you're looking for (this can work for friendship or more!) would be good to include as a bare minimum, but it never hurts to know a bit about someone's interests too!

Now that the Mixer event is done (it happened on 23rd Sept), I want to let you know how it actually went.

First things first: YES, this was a 100% free event. I just wanted to help people who were genuinely looking for a partner and were tired of swiping! It definitely wasn't perfect since it was my first time doing this and I was super short on time, but wow... your response blew my mind! A lot of you still reach out to me for the next event, hang on tight and follow this space! ✨

To give you the raw numbers: the form got over 200 responses in just 2 days before I had to shut it down. I spent the next week running around like a crazy person doing around 50 fikas 1:1 just to vibe-check people. Espresso House and Café Nero owe me big time! 🤪

In the end, I invited 28 people (equal split of guys and girls), and 23 showed up on the night (11 women, 12 men). We ended up with 5 mutual matches!

But there is one specific story from this whole thing that I want to share!

During the 1-on-1 fikas, I met this guy who was visibly terrified. At one point, he nervously looked at me and asked if he was doing well in the "interview." I told him that I am not interviewing anyone since I am no one to judge. I am just trying to have a normal conversation!

I went home that day so anxious, worried if the final event was going to be horribly awkward for people who are more reserved. But I also knew that these are exactly the people who can benefit the most from this initiative. So, I had to have him there. When he walked into the venue, he immediately admitted he was super nervous. I told him that he can reach out to me if he needed any help.

You know what? This guy ended up mutually matching with 3 different people that night. 🤯 Before leaving he told me he had the absolute best time❤️

The point of sharing this isn't to brag about the event. It’s about people. This guy didn’t try to put on a mask or pretend to be someone else. He was just honest, vulnerable, and completely himself. He was nervous, and he admitted it. And it worked! When you're looking for a partner, just be yourself. Authenticity is a magnet.

On a personal note, I genuinely loved meeting everyone. You guys come from so many different backgrounds, careers, and cultures, and everyone was exceptionally kind and warm to me.

I managed all the emails and fikas alone, but when the actual event was close, I realized I was drowning. Some amazing people volunteered to step in and help me run the night, so a massive shoutout to them! 🙌✨

I know a ton of you asked for a documentary. Honestly, I was just so short on time and so many things had to be taken care of. But we did take some photos! Documentary? Maybe next time! 📸
