Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio part 2!

Frank, embarrassed after losing the bet, walks head down to his bathroom, walked on his scale, undid the pregnancy suit strap and let it drop to the floor. Frank's eye's widened as he noticed his weight fell 80 pounds - significantly more than TRIPLE than what the pads were supposed to have weighed. The girls had been cheating all along!!! JT ran out of his room also finding out what happened.

Frank and JT approached Dana and Carol and as soon as the girls saw the guy's reaction they knew they were busted. The girls started to stutter but Frank was not going to give them any leeway. Frank, "We'll make you girls a deal. We get a rematch next weekend. If you win, we'll kiss your feet again but if we're the victors, which we will be, you will have to make good on the bet three times over." The girls had a horrible feeling in their stomach. Dana reluctantly agreed knowing her feminist agenda rested on this. Carol attempted to get out of it. Frank, "Come on Carol, don't you think women are superior to men?" Carol, "Well, I do..." Frank, "So it's a bet?" Carol sighs. "It's a bet."

Sunday came around and the guys were still standing strong. Now that the women weren't cheating they didn't stand a chance. Frank, "Ready to call it a bet"? Carol, "The weekend is quite over yet now is it?" Dana, "Why bother? They're obviously going to outlast the clock." JT, "Does that mean what I think it does?" Dana, defeated, "Yes, you win, OK?" JT starts to celebrate. Carol, "You're right let's get this over with."

Carol inadvertently falls to the ground and accidentally takes down Dana. Carol attempts to get up by getting lifting herself on the kitchen table but this leaned the table down and a few watermelons landed on the girls. JT, "I dont believe we heard the magic words yet." Dana defeated, "Ok, we are the weaker sex..."

JT, "Whoa! The agreement was to kneel down before us and then kiss our feet!" Dana and Carol get on their knees. Carol in front of Frank and Dana in front of JT as they guys sat in front of them. JT, "Come on, 'We are the weaker sex.'" Dana and Carol mumbles, "We are the weaker sex." Frank, "Men are superior to women." Dana and Carol mumbles, "Men are superior to women." JT, "I bow down before you to kiss your feet." Dana and Carol mumbles, "I bow down before you to kiss your feet." JT and Frank raise their feet to Dana and Carol's faces for them to kiss it. Dana and Carol then smacks their lips with their index and middle fingers and then smacks it on the guy’s shoes. JT, "Oh, no, no, no. Lips on leather!" Dana kisses JT's foot. Carol kisses Frank's foot. JT, "Switch!" Dana and Carol switch spots. Dana and Carol, "We are the weaker sex. Men are superior to women. I bow down before you to kiss your feet." Dana kisses Frank's foot. Carol kisses JT's foot. JT, "Switch!" Dana and Carol, "We are the weaker sex. Men are superior to women. I bow down before you to kiss your feet." Dana kisses JT's foot. Carol kisses Frank's foot. JT holds down Dana's head, preventing her from lift up her lips from JT's shoe. After ten seconds, Dana finally frees herself and runs away in humiliation.

Karen question

In season 4 Karen mentions that she's a senior in high school. Yet in season 5 she's still in high school. And I heard she doesn't start college until season 7. So what's the deal with her age?

Is anyone else relieved by this?

I’m so happy that with everything this cast has been through whether together through on-set drama in the past or in their individual lives, that they are all now reunited (reuniting again this month!) & bonding again? There’s other show casts that don’t get along so many years later & are filled with drama, even from tgif. But it’s so nice to see (from a fan perspective) that the step by step cast is doing well, on good terms, respectful of each other’s boundaries & generally private. Hopefully we’ll get more cast content from this month’s ‘90s con compared to a few years ago. The podcast will be live from the con.

Working with Stacy and Christine

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Stacy (yes, our Dana goes by Stacy with an ‘y’ now) and Christine for a couple years now. As someone who always loved Step By Step more than the other TGIF shows (my parents divorced a few years after the show started), I always found the dysfunctional, but loving family so much more relatable.

I feel like Cody leaving was double edged sword for the show

On one hand it was bad because Sasha's character was the heart of the show on the other hand it made writers step and really work at pushing the humor and jokes on the other kid.

Subtle hints that Dana deep down crushed on Cody

I don’t think Dana wanted to completely admit it to herself. Hating Cody was easier for her to do & a way to further ignore her crush. But she does let slip at times, whether intentional or not, subtle hints.

Episodes 01x04 & 03x01: in Cody’s debut episode, Karen says Cody is kind of cute but Dana doesn’t deny that or argue with her. Then Carol calls Cody a good-looking guy which Dana again doesn’t deny, instead she ignores it & finds other reasons about him that bother her because he was cast as Romeo.

Episode 02x11: Dana is shocked when she finds out that Cody also likes Truffaut & admitted that she considered going to the film festival with Cody.

Episode 02x13: when Cody becomes rich, Dana has no problem not only wearing something outside of her usual wardrobe that’s meant to seduce Cody, but she also actually tries to seduce him with how she sits on the table, playfully touches him like he does to her & speaks about him in a positive way. She even admits the amount of time she hasn’t been as nice to him. JT is pretty shocked by her behavior as well. If she truly despised Cody, she wouldn’t do anything like this no matter how rich he got. She’d keep the complaints, but wouldn’t do anything bold & daring.

Anyone else think of other examples or have thoughts?

How would step by step stories have changed if by season 3/4 dana, JT, and Karen all moved out of the house?

Was there ever any chemistry between al, mark and brendan?

Like imagine if dana, JT, and Karen weren't at the house could al mark and brendan carry a shenanigan?

What do you think?

Frank and Carol’s Exes

It’s been a while since I’d seen the show but did they ever explained what happened to Frank and Carol’s exes? Do they even mention them? It’s the only thing about the show that I somehow forget.

If I were a rich man what if cody gave the family all $250,000?

throughout the show we keep hearing that frank and carol are barely treading water financially how much improvement would it have been to their lives and the kids (dana, karen, mark, jt, al, brendan) if they received the money?

Who thought it would have been better if the family moved to the new house?

In the Season 7 finale (series finale) Frank got offered a good deal on a house since frank built the houses for this real estate developer

The house was big nice and decked out modern everyone liked it except for Lilly.

In the end they decided to stay put for Lilly also because the new home buyers were going to gut the old house.

I always found this episode odd in the sense carols house was already pretty large (over 3000 sqft) granted there's 9 people living there 10 if you count rich. But if you look at the house that it's based on in Real life the lot is over 11,000 sq ft frank could have built a adu/additional whole house long ago to alleviate overcrowding if we are being realistic here.

This would mean the new house frank wanted to move them into would be a mansion that's at least 5000 sq ft but even then they had to put jt in the attic. But to stay put because of just Lilly? Also the price the house buyers offered must not be good enough but it was the late 90s today the house would easily be worth almost $1 million in port Washington or 2 million if we are talking Pasadena price.

What do you think? Should they have stayed put for Lilly /sentimental reasons?

Was It fair to Josh Byrne that they wrote him (brendan) out of the show by the end of season 6?

They didn't mention why his character didn't appear anymore. I mean even a one liner would have been nice.

Carol and Frank on screen still mentioning 7 kids from time to time despite no Brendan on screen.

Them having another kid lilly (Emily young) and , bringing in rich (Jason marsden) and that French hairstylist guy Jean luc (bronson pinchot).

So apparently Josh just quit when they changed networks and having so many new characters essentially crowded Brendan out.

What do you think?

I think the most unrealistic thing about step by step premise is Carol could raise 3 kids and own that big house in the show on her own prior to meeting frank as a beautician working out of her garage

The house is 3 bed 3 bath at 3168 sq ft I mean sure the story takes place in port Wisconsin but it's still a pretty nice house.

What I can find is a typical home in port Wisconsin cost around $75,000 when the show started in 1991

A typical home in Port Washington, Wisconsin has about 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and measures roughly 2,128 square feet.

The real house is based on South pasadena with the size of 3168 feet so this makes it bigger than your normal house there 3,000-square-foot house in Port Washington, Wisconsin generally cost between $180,000 and $240,000 to build or buy in 1991.

So long story short In 1991, a beautician or hairdresser in a small-to-midsize Wisconsin market like Port Washington typically made an estimated annual income of $12,000 to $18,000

Unless Is it possible Carol got any financial assistance from the former husband estate or has supplementary income from some other source

What do you think?

Patrick Duffy, guest star Jaleel White (from Family Matters) and Suzanne Somers on August 23, 1991. I like this kind of grey on Suzanne's t-shirt. Even as a man I wish I had one like that.

HELP FINDING AN EPISODE

I’m trying to identify a Step by Step episode that’s been driving me crazy.

I’m almost certain it’s from Seasons 1–4.

Frank buys a high-tech TV/recliner (or entertainment chair) with lots of electronic features. He proudly demonstrates it to J.T., Mark, and Brendan in the living room and jokes:

“It does everything but go to the can for you.”

The chair wasn’t just a background prop—it was part of the episode’s storyline, not the cold open.

I don’t think it was the episode where Frank gets the big-screen TV as payment from a client. This was specifically a futuristic chair with multiple functions.

Does anyone remember the season and episode?

Cody and Dana if they weren't related by marriage

PSA: I am talking about the two year age difference between the characters which is probably most noticable as Dana is still in high school when they meet. I am not talking about the 8 years between the actors

4 I'd ship them if they weren't related by marriage
10 I already ship them
2 I'd ship them if the age difference was smaller
3 I'd ship them if they weren't related by marriage AND the age difference was smaller
6 Not for me
