Unable to download required update, stuck, steam machine

My wife bought the steam machine to replace our old batocera beelink mini pc, she got a great deal, 700 bucks... But as we are trying to set it up this happens, signal strength is great, but it won't let us continue from here

Starting to realise why you got it cheap … can you return it?

I’ve never seen this error so I’m not sure how to get around it, unfortunately.

If this is the initial set up, then something is obviously wrong, and to protect yourself from potential long term pain I’d return it if you can.

If you’re determined to keep it though, you could make a repair image if you have another pc and a 16GB USB stick, and use the nuclear option to reinstall the os

Hopefully someone else comes along that’s had experience
