MEGATHREAD "What are you playing this week?" Megathread
Due to the high volume of very similar posts asking what r/SteamDeck users were playing, this weekly megathread has been created to have a singular place to hold this very frequent discussion and limit duplicate posts. Feel free to share what you have been playing on your Steam Deck or even post pictures in this thread and show us if you wish!

Really slowing down this week. Too much crazy stuff happening. Family health issues, new work opportunity, stress and tiredness, etc.
I managed to dip my toes into playing Apollo Justice, but I kept falling asleep during the first trial (and not because it was boring, but because I'm exhausted)
I haven't played anything else.

Sorry to hear about your family, hope they're ok and can recover from whatever they're going through. Sounds like you got a lot on your plate but you will prevail. Make some time for yourself and play some of those games you listed or a game that gives you some comfort. Best wishes friend. šš¾

Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it. Truly.
Things feel like they might slow down a little bit today so that I can recover a bit before the weekday. It's nice to be able to wind down with a brief game at the end of the day. So, I'll get to that, hopefully.

Going through my yearly Rimworld phase. I chose a religion at random and ended up with a rancher patriarchy where women can't wear clothes or hold a position of power and men control everything. None of my men have any social skills though so can't actually use the abilities that come with their religious roles and all my women have either high shooting or melee but can't wear armor in fights.

No manās sky. Finally jumped in after owning it since launch. Iāve put ~100 hours in just a few weeks. As a 9-5 working father of two younglings, thatās a ton for me lol
I maybe had 5 hours in at launch and another 5 screwing around in vr, but now it has absorbed me

Finishing up with Blood of Dawnwalker and moving onto Galactic Racer.

u/SuckingAtLife101 3d ago
Does dawnwalker play well on the deck? It's one that would rise super highly on my to play list if it's good on steamdeck

I am getting 60fps on low settings using Mako at 2x and the Eclipse mod. Utterly sensational IMO.
If you can accept you canāt run this at ultra high then I thoroughly recommend it. Am almost at the end of the game.

Octopath Traveller 2! If you ever played JRPGās on the SNES do not sleep on this one. Itās like it was designed to time travel back to 1995 and blow your mind.

can you point me somewhere on how to set it up on the deck?
2
u/ponzusaucer 3d ago
I already hade battle.net as a non steam game, so for me it was just downloading the wow forever from there and then turning on gamepad (alpha) in the options before making a character/diving into the game. I have seen a content creator on youtube named ā Kinzoā and he seems to have some good guides to setting up and tweaking/including add-ons. I have not gotten into add ons yet, but he should have a vid for getting it set up as a non-steam game first as well. You for sure want to make sure you have the right track pad functioning as mouse with left click! I also enabled my back buttons for easy access to quest log, character, etc. I hope this helps! Happy questing!!

Gears e-day, streamed from my Xbox via greenlight. It was not on my radar - I was gonna play hell us. But I'll probably cancel game pass soon so I wanted to at least sample it. Now, I'm hooked. After this - hell is us (will bail if it doesn't hook me), then either dawn Walker or control resonant.

Just finished the first play through of Twisted Tower. It has ng+ so just started that. I loved Bioshock and this is very much an homage to those games. It has enough of its own identity though to not be a total rip off.

Been kickin' it retro in honour of spooky season actually! Resident Evil 2 (N64 version) and MediEvil 2 for PS1 through EmuDeck. Both great games I either had never played (RE2) or not played in a VERY long time (MediEvil 2). Been loving both of them!
Bonus: RE2 for N64 has an alternate control scheme that ditches the tank controls, and that has made the game actually playable for my brain. I don't mind the compressed visuals required to make the game fit on an N64 cart if it gives me a better control setup. I find they actually add to the schlocky B horror feel. But I never could wrap my mind around those tank controls...

Bayonetta. It's my first Japanese style game that isn't a Nintendo game, and I am pleasantly surprised with how good it is. Fun combat, looks great on the deck, weird and quirky dialogue, and an amazing soundtrack. Jury's still out on the story though so far. Only about 8 hours in.
