Configuration "Inverse" hipfire trigger possible?

Using OG Steam controller,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to set up a hipfire trigger such that the soft pull is sent on a fast, full pull instead of the full pull? Such that full pull is only sent on a slower full pull.

I've got 2 games where there's both a low and high zoom state. Ideally I have low zoom on soft and full zoom on full, but often in heated situations I a) just slam the trigger down and b) only want the low zoom. I know I can just put high zoom on soft and low on full but that's no fun.

Thx in advance

It's possible by combining the Action Set Layers and the Hip Fire trigger. On a fast trigger pull, the Soft Pull command gets skipped and the regular Full Pull command(low zoom) is send out. On a slow trigger pull, the Soft Pull command activates an Action Set Layer that contains the alternate command (full zoom) on Full Pull. Here's how to do it.

  1. Select the Action Sets tab in the bottom left, select the gear to the right of Default, select Add Layer, and give the Action Set Layer a name.
  2. In the Triggers tab, bind Add Action Set Layer to Soft Pull, bind the low zoom command to Full Pull and change the Threshold Trigger Style to the Hip Fire option of your choice.
  3. Select the RB button (or press the right bumper on your controller), to swap over to the Action Set Layer.
  4. Inside the Action Set Layer, bind Remove Action Set Layer to Soft Pull and the high zoom command to Full Pull.
  5. Select the gear to the right of the Remove Action Set Layer command, select Regular Press to open the Activator window, and select Release Press.

You could make two full pull bindings:

  1. Fiirst as an interruptible press which is the same as soft pull binding
  2. One on long press full pull press which is your actual full pull binding.

I would reckon that you will find that hold time to be more bothering unfortunately.
Better solution is either
Trigger discipline or
find different mapping to work around your habits.

i don't believe steam input has any way of defining anything in relation to the analog trigger pull velocity that i recall, but i've not really looked into it either

Have you tried all the trigger pull settings? There's gotta be one that fits what you're saying
