Discussion Steam Controller Logistics
I "reserved" a steam controller on the 15th May, how is it a thing that they still haven't been able to sell me a controller? Like at what point do Valve start getting shit for their dire logistics because it's insane.
It's a controller for fuck sake.

They mentioned after launch that demand vastly exceeded their expectations. They aren't going to sell it until it's in hand. Can only assume you're in the 3rd run but who knows?

But it's a controller, and we're literally 5 months on from release. There's not a single controller I can think of that has been hard to get hold of brand new from manufacturer bar a very specific window at the start and being "lucky" to have been in.

Yeah I can understand how it's annoying. Unfortunately they don't manufacture their own controllers like Sony or 8bitdo so they have to wait in line at factories. They could even have a batch at an assembly plant waiting on a single component. No way of knowing.

They are still stuck on May 13th orders unfortunately. At the current pace, you should be able to order in the next two months though.
If you really want it now, you can buy the 512 GB Steam Machine + Controller bundle. It has no waitlist.
Next time they release new hardware, Valve really needs to require a deposit to discourage scalping.

Maybe they're doing it more in order of how old a Steam account is because i reserved mine on May 11th and i got mine last month but also my Steam account is 22 years old as well but i am just assuming it because originally on the Steam site it said it would have been December that i would have been able to buy my controller.

I just think they're for one looking at the age of accounts and two when that person did the reservation because i think Valve might be thinking for people with like 12+ year old accounts would actually have the money in order to order the product without issues unlike someone who would have a 4 year old account but again i am just making an assumption on this whole thing.

Because currently there are more people who want a Steam Controller than the number of Steam Controllers that have been produced. You put in your reservation a week after reservation queue was opened, and the opening of the queue was announced in advance (after the controller first sold out in 30 minutes). So a lot of people, probably the vast majority of people interested in this controller, made their reservation before you.

I think the crux of the matter is, I've never seen a company produce a controller so slow, unless it's been some unprecedented release, which I doubt.

yeah its pretty dogshit. i suppose after they made a billion version 1 controllers in 2015 and had to put the unsold stock in a warehouse they're more careful. i had a reservation on the 11th and I got my order two days ago.
