Steam Controller (2026) Customized my gamepad for Helldivers 2

Trackpad also works for stim use and weapon switch. At first I was using a D-Pad as I did on DualShock 4 with index finger (somehow got used to it), but on Steam Controller the D-Pad is the only thing I don’t really like, and had lots of missclicks. I actually wasn’t expecting to use trackpads as much as I do when I was buying the gamepad.

P.S. don’t mind the very blue-ish screen, the TV is old and LEDs are slowly dying. In reality it isn’t that bad as it is on camera lol

Since the og Steam Controller, touch only dpad has been awesome for precision input games... It's kind of sad that people didn't catch on to that due to the enforced "click" for the default dpad config.

It also has a layer to simplify the weapon mode switch, dedicated button for grenade throw and gyro aim. Let me know what you think!

As a 4-way directional pad, increased the deadzone so every button would be far away from each other to minimize wrong inputs (set to 17000), removed the clicking requirement and binded buttons within the game. In my version it is 1, 2, 3 and V so they would work for both stim/weapon switch and stratagem arrows

Very nice OP. Both runs of the steam controller are great with Helldivers. Gyro aim feels especially good in this game.

for any SC1 users, this is a fantastic game to play both pads and gyro as the main inputs. It does mixed inputs very well
