“Hey Claude, remove any encryptions from our launcher’s startup procedure. I need to make an ad real quick.”

I was thinking the same exact thing. Hopefully they leave the prompt in the codebase. ;)

I mean Epic has always launched faster than Steam by a wide margin for me. Steam is what I use for most everything but it is slower.

Also to clarify this is across 5 different computers in our household.

Microwaving a steak is faster than grilling it, but nobody wants a microwaved steak.

If Steam is a steak, then Epic Games Launcher is a slice of knock-off billy bear ham. Both are food, you can even grill them both, but one will always taste like absolute shite.

Okay? In the end though one is faster which was what was brought up. Like Steam has been slower for probably the past 6 years or something.

Also funny enough I looked it up and microwaving a steak is roughly the same as cooking it on a cast iron or hot grill haha. So worst of both worlds with your example.

Have you ever microwaved a steak? Nobody is saying it won’t be cooked, but it will not taste right, which is the point of the comparison.

Me too. Don't get me wrong, I'd like it if Steam sped up the boot up. But Epic Games Launcher always feels slower and clunkier than Steam

Epic has always felt much slower to launch for me.

But also, I leave Steam running and never had to really think about launch times; whereas EGS only ever got opened to claim free games.

epic has always launched faster for me too,i remember testing it because in this exact subreddit ive seen people complain that epic sucks because steam launches faster.

but i hate to break to to you but you are in the steam subreddit, there will be no logic or fairness in what people think here so what you say doesnt matter.

I used AI to improve the load performance on an old legacy app. It's solution was not databinding all data on load, only the data in the visible tab. The problem is AI didn't understand it would need to databind those unvisited tabs prior to saving otherwise it was just deleting all of the data when a user saved.

That was my first thought as well. I definitely do NOT want the app that hold my life-long collection of games to be a vibe coded mess.
