Satirical Science Absolutely

Hotter take: When an epidemic is raging and hospitals are slammed and my friends in healthcare are burning out, quitting, or... something more permanent... anti-vax people shouldn't be allowed in the hospital at all.
Go get your medical care from your church, twitter hate-stoker, or right-wing-radio host.
Come to think of it, that should be the default whether the hospital is overrun or empty. You made your choice to deny science and medicine and public health, you don't get to benefit from it when you need it.

Setup a tent outside where they can pray for their cure

Only if they pay for the tent and the land. I'm tired of subsidizing ignorance-stoking, hate-mongering groups.

10,000% antivaxers should.be denied all medical care. You dont get to refuse common sense health needs of others yet demand them for yourself.
An antivaxer DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to endanger other people whose immune systems are comrpomised, as thats willfully murdering the other person.

insurance companies are now mandating yearly physicals and patients pay the copay, so this makes sense.
remember...... anti-vax is neither healthcare nor science. It's a multi-billion dollar lifestyle business run by influencers who are not scientists or doctors.

I just got a tetanus booster shot. Will anti-vaxers refuse those? They're recommended about every 10 years, so we may soon start seeing more hospitalizations due to tetanus. Anti-vaxers should be required to pay 100% of the cost.

They're recommended about every 10 years, so we may soon start seeing more hospitalizations due to tetanus.
So tetanus itself is actually not a great example.
While the initial childhood tetanus vaccines are extremely important there has been increasing evidence indicating that the generic 10 year(formerly 3 year at one point if you can believe it) adult booster recommendation the US still uses is largely unnecessary for those who fully completed their childhood tetanus vaccine schedule.
https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/diphtheria/adults-largely-dont-need-tetanus-diphtheria-vaccine-boosters-researchers-sayIn fact there are there are numerous developed countries(like the UK) and healthcare orgs(like the WHO) without any general adult booster recommendations at all for tetanus while other developed countries either recommend it anywhere from every 20-30 years or simply recommend starting adult boosters later in life(50-65). Though obviously doctors might still recommend them well before then based on a specific patient's wound and history.
So any uptick in tetanus infections will more likely be children who are the victims of their anti-vax parents rather than the parents themselves.

Wonder if these clowns have small pox and polio vaccines or is it just some vaccine they don’t like.

I’m also waiting for a vaccine against cancer or Alzheimer’s and see if the anti vaxxers are going to line up first to get those vaccines. I hope they refuse them.

Actually should be doubled since there is ample evidence that their illness lowers the threshold of heard immunity and hence more people will be getting sick.

I’ve been saying this for years. I also think that insurance companies shouldn’t pay for treatments for vaccine-preventable illnesses. You didn’t get the MMR and now you need to be hospitalized because you got the measles? Claim denied.
Mumps made you sterile and now you want fertility treatment? Sue your parents & make them cover it, I guess.

This is the same girl that stands on the street and yells "my body my choice"

I didn’t say anything about anyone’s choices being taken away. Are you under the impression that health insurance covers abortions?

For private insurance of course. I'd be surprised, if the question was asked, that they're not already.

I just think that the clown movement from ten years ago needs to come back and they need to be equipped with 00 gauge horse needles and chase these motherfuckers around at their own conventions.

Good idea. Or no coverage for illness that the vax could have prevented or lessened.

Frankly, anti-vaxers shouldn’t qualify for standard medical insurance at all. Not only that, but they also shouldn’t be allowed in public hospitals and clinics because they pose an outsized health risk to those already ill and the immune compromised. Anti-vaxers should be forced to go to specialty, quarantine clinics that are run by like minded people. If they want to follow alternate “medicine”, then let them build a medical practice around that and don’t subject the rest of us to their reckless BS.

Funny part, if you really look at the numbers you know who the acti vaxers are? The Amish. So yeah they already do this.
1
u/gregtx 4d ago
Oh there are plenty outside of the Amish and Mennonite communities that assuage vaccines. The politically motivated, far right conspiracy theorists are the largest threat. The Amish and Mennonite communities already self segregate, so we don’t have much to fear from them. It’s the ones that put their unvaccinated kids in our schools and the drag them to hospitals with the likes of measles that scare the shit out of me!

You can't expect your insurance premiums to change based on your chances to infect someone else.
It's a service that is costing the taxpayers money so they should just be taxed via the GOV.
