There are likely 30,000 or more stray cats in Spartanburg County
Thems pretty insane stray cat numbers.
Coleman said Two Girls and a Cat Trap and other TNR volunteers are making a difference in targeted areas.
But, countywide, the situation is out of control, she said. "It's like we're taking a thimble full of water one at a time out of the ocean."

Who got to see this in the sky this morning?
Caught this from my backyard in Spartanburg around 6:30 this morning and had no idea what I was looking at at first.
Turns out it was a Falcon 9 that launched out of Cape Canaveral at 6:33 a.m., the CRS-35 cargo mission headed to the ISS.
The reason it looks like that is the rocket was already high enough to be hit by sunlight while it was still dark down here. The exhaust spreads out up there and lights up, so you get this huge glowing fan shape. People call it a "space jellyfish."
We don't always get a view this clear from SC, so pretty lucky this time. Anyone else see it?

Spartanburg County only has 5 traffic cops on duty at any given time
I reported a traffic violation this morning and the Traffic Violation Report Monitoring Dude gave me a call.
Super nice guy; I could tell he was as frustrated as I was.
He said the county only has 10 traffic cops, and since they rotate days and nights, that equates to only 5 on the road at any given time.
He said only official county sheriff dashcam video is usable unless in cases of injury/death or property damage.
He said SC is #1 most dangerous/deadly state in the nation, and Greenville and Spartanburg counties fight every year to see who gets the highest death toll.
Obviously, we've got town/city police as well in the municipalities, so it's not literally just 5 cops, but the number's still pretty shocking for a place with 380,857 people, 1800 miles of roads, and no automated traffic cameras to lighten the load (since they're illegal in SC).

Local appliance store that can beat warehouse $$
Anyone here have a recommendation for an appliance store here who could beat the membership warehouses on pricing and installation for an oven/range combo?
I'm ok with scratch and dent or clearance items. I need full install, delivery and cart-away.
Thank you in advance!
Edit: thank you! Only had time to check Fannings and Spartanburg Appliance Center, and SAC didn't have a. Matching unit. Both businesses seemed really good and I'd go back to either for another purchase. Thank you all!

The Flock Shop in Spartanburg: Would you consider this acceptable behavior from a restaurant manager?
I'm curious how other people in Spartanburg feel about something that recently happened involving The Flock Shop.
A family member was having lunch at the restaurant during his break from work. He ordered a single beer with his meal. He was not drunk, was not behaving inappropriately, and, to my knowledge, showed no signs of impairment. (Big guy 6 foot, 280 pounds who works outdoors in the heat)
The restaurant manager photographed him drinking the beer, then photographed his receipt.
Rather than addressing any concern with the customer directly, the manager sent both photographs to his employer.
His employer subsequently used those photographs as grounds to terminate his employment.
Now, I understand that employers can have policies regarding alcohol consumption during work hours. That's a separate issue, and I'm not suggesting otherwise.
My concern is the conduct of the restaurant manager.
When did it become acceptable for restaurant management to photograph paying customers, document their purchases, and report them to their employers?
If a customer is behaving appropriately, paying for their meal, and causing no disturbance, why is the restaurant involving itself in that person's employment?
I find the situation troubling, particularly because this wasn't someone creating a disturbance or posing an apparent threat to anyone.
I'm genuinely curious whether other people would be comfortable patronizing an establishment knowing its management might photograph their purchases and share that information with third parties - employers, spouses, religious leaders.
Would you consider this acceptable customer service, or a serious breach of trust?

Headsnap - Metal band from Chesnee
Does anyone remember a metal band from Chesnee called Headsnap? They played the 'nu metal' style during the early 2000s and released a couple CDs. I'm searching for either of their CDs to archive them, did anyone here have copies of them left from back then? I can't find any online and they seem to be pretty rare. Thank you, anything helps.
