I ordered them as soon as they went on sale. The colourway is inspired from Paul Walker's Nissan Skyline from 2 Fast 2 Furious. The packaging also follows the same theme. The "family" written inside the box is a nice detail. They are super chunky and heavy. Definitely a looker.LaFrancé really cooked with this one.

I had to pre order these in person at the Footlocker on Broadway on the day of the Parade and they just delivered today. Yes, the parade was an amazing experience and yes it was absolutely packed. And yes, these were well worth the wait.

Materials are on point, colors are on point, NYC branding is on point. And they came with Orange laces with blue tips, but I swapped for the white laces. It was too much orange

Everyone remembers they settled but I never saw anyone talk about the actual ruling before that, so I read it.

Basically BAPE tried to get the case tossed early by arguing Nike never said exactly which parts of the AF1, Jordan 1 and Dunk are protected. Judge said nope. Nike has those designs registered, and the registrations already spell it out (stitching, the panels, the wavy bit around the eyelets, the ridges on the sole etc). So Nike didn't have to prove any of that just to keep the case going.

He didn't rule that BAPE copied anything, just that the case could move forward. But a few months later they settled and BAPE dropped the STA Mid, Court Sta and Court Sta High, and had to change the BAPE STA and SK8 STA.

Also didn't know this but apparently Nike first complained to BAPE about the AF1 thing back in 2009. Then BAPE brought the STA back in 2021 and that's when Nike sued.

Curious what people here think, was the Court Sta too close to an AF1?

A few quick observations:
Size: definitely run small. I wear High OGs in size 42.5 EUR and usually have 6-7mm of room at the front. In the Royals, it's maybe 3, max 4mm. Besides that, they somehow fit more snugly around the foot.

Shape: neither a High OG nor an '85. Something in between, although looking down at the toebox, it's more of an '85.

Quality: it's OK, seems a bit better than the dozen or so pairs of High OGs I have, but I'm not sure if it's better than the AJ1 '85 Georgetowns, for example.

Overall, a cool shoe, and the box and wrapping paper are awesome.

The sneaker market crash is the best thing that could’ve happened to sneakerheads like us. Never thought I’d say this, but thanks to resale prices tanking, I’ve been able to cop pairs I never thought I could afford 🤙

Color way: Classic Red/Crystal Pink

My first time wearing shoes with low soles/low profile. My previous sneakers have always been on the chunkier side; Air Jordan’s and Lacoste.
It felt weird in the beginning but I absolutely love the snug fit. They look pretty sleek and go with almost all outfits. The leather is also soft compared to my Nikes and actually flexible. Also great colors to choose from but this was the only one available in my size.
