Question
What if I base my slenderverse series, MonolithArchives, more on the original mythos, while still throwing in some of Slendermans modern stuff like proxies, slender sickness, and audio/visual distortion in? I thought it would be a cool take, and I haven't seen many series' other than PARTIALLY TribeTwelve (but barely), DarkHarvest00, and Black Horizon, do it yet, so I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on it!

I only include the original Eight Pages/Slender's Shadow in my Slender canon, so you can do whatever you want.

That's actually something I forgot to include because that was literally one of the first things to come to my mind when working on this series, my friend is making the 8 pages with her old notebook.

You can do what you like, but if I were basing it off the original mythos I probably wouldn't have Proxies. What made Slender Man so scary originally was that his intentions were completely unknowable. We didn't know what happened to the people who disappeared, just that Slender Man was often an ominous omen that appeared before a disaster or disappearance occurred.
The Proxies themselves give the Slender Man a much more understandable motivation. We understand what happens to some of the people he takes. While Proxies can be scary in their own right, Slender The Arrival did them phenomenally I feel, I do feel that something was lost with their introduction. It makes Slender Man an openly malevolent entity when before his motivations were completely unknown.

It's more of just one person being manipulated by it to do it's dirty work, and an entity bound in a characters body that also KIND OF does it's dirty work, but it's less devoted to it. So yes, technically proxies, I want to keep them in the series, but still flesh out Slenderman, and make it still stand out.

Go for it. It's all about the execution of the ideas. Pursue your idea, and do it well. And, have fun.

Go for it. If it speaks to you and it’s what you want to do I say you should.
