Fun fact: Bryce Dallas Howard met Akira Kurosawa as a child when her father (Ron Howard) and George Lucas had dinner with the director in Japan.

How am I just now learning that this woman's father was Opie?

Even more interesting--her uncle was Balok from the Star Trek TOS episode "The Cormomite Maneuver" (This is tranya... I hope you relish it as much as I!)

I didn't know he was on Star Trek but I have always loved Clint Howard, he seems like a genuinely nice and good person

OMG! He was so young and adorable, what a fantastic actor even at that age

I believe he was on the Andy Griffith show along with his brother

Oh no way, I used to watch that every day as a kid in the afternoons and I don't remember seeing him but I was very young and not really paying attention, plus Opie wasn't really my favorite character. I was more of a Don Knotts fan as a kid.
