Doing this to your teenaged children isn't that bad but most of these kids are under 7, why the hell would anyone think it was appropriate to traumatise what is emotionally one step up from a baby

My mom thought making us cry was genuinely hilarious and took it upon herself to do it as often as possible, so yeah some people just suck ass and are mean for no good reason.

Edit: thanks for the awards and kindness! You’re all so sweet. It will probably be no surprise I am extremely low contact with her as an adult.

u/FreeOGPoohShiesty 1d ago

Yeah that piece of shit nursing home is also really funny

6

u/Weakonomics 1d ago

Exactly lmaoo

3

u/Human-Expression-652 1d ago

I feel your pain homie, mine was also a complete ice cold bitch.

2

u/PsychologicalBus1692 1d ago

I hope you make her cry as much as possible.

6

u/Warm_Figure6955 1d ago

Haven't you heard of the "views" before my friend

2

u/IdolizeHamsters 17h ago

There in lies the sad part. The karma, views, likes, shares, or whatever model you want to use to feel satisfied and justified to scare your kids on camera and share with the world is pretty sad. The kids have no idea.

u/TheBlankScroll 1d ago

Gotta get that engagement.

4

u/WesternWitchy52 22h ago

Can confirm. My siblings were assholes when I was a kid and did this shit all the time. I hate dolls for legit reasons.

2

u/itsallcosmica 13h ago

I , too, hate dolls for legit reasons. Not my siblings fault though

1

u/WesternWitchy52 12h ago

They're very creepy. Porcelain especially.

6

u/Spotttty 22h ago

I remember a friend of my dad held my head underwater for a couple seconds when I was about that age because I didn’t want to do it. I was already scared.
I was terrified for years after that every time I got in the pool. Even during swim lessons I would never face my head down into the water for a proper technique.

People that do this shit to their own kids are demons.

u/slowbilly 1d ago

All moms in this video fyi

1

u/EastsideWilder 4h ago

No. Can’t be. Not the all knowing, all loving, spitting images of the Virgin Mary herself.

I thought there was no love like a mother’s?

1

u/EverythingSucksYo 17h ago

Doesn’t mean dads don’t do this kind of crap as well

1

u/Used-Persimmon-367 13h ago

My dad used to sneak into my little brothers room while he slept and set up a life size Chucky doll by his bed.

2

u/Tiyath 1d ago

I bet it's the same parents that throw a fit when a woman is breastfeeding in public and then subject their kids to shit like this

2

u/WordWordNvmber 20h ago

These parents name their sons Kaleb.

And they're doing this for social-media clout.

2

u/RockosModernBasiIisk 17h ago

Also now that their likenesses are exposed online, bad actors can use their faces and use ai to make csam. Good job to all the parents in the video. You're officially morons.

2

u/xHaleyys 15h ago

The ones where the parents are holding the doors shut so the child can't even get out are even more fucked up.

I also watched one that did this trend with her 4yo son. She told him to say what he loves most about her. He turned around and despite being absolutely terrified, still whispered "my mommy is the best" and then he started crying. I felt so bad for him.

2

u/CycleMother2006 15h ago

I wonder if people forget that when they were kids, things like this might as well have been hyper-realistic recreations. Our imagination at that age is so potent, it just fills in all the gaps even in an age of realistic GFX.

2

u/EccentricFeather 22h ago

Because this world is filled with irresponsible morons who also want their voices heard and respected.

Our world is a fucking joke and the way the universe works is a joke as well

Brotha you ain't about that engagement lifestyle, and that's alright.

u/xXTheLastCrowXx 1d ago

There is an entire generation that grew up watching goosebumps. I really don't see the problem here.

Too many soft people in today's world

9

u/1m_d0n3_c4r1ng 1d ago

Did your parents film you while you watched it and then posted your reaction to a Chinese video platform without your consent?

Because I feel that your comparison is just as braindead as these parents doing it.

6

u/StaffNo6120 1d ago

Exactly. Do the kids truly understand what it means to have content uploaded to the internet?

2

u/MysteriousQuote4665 1d ago

They don't. We now have an entire generation of children whose childhood events and pictures were posted online without their consent. I would not appreciate my embarrassing childhood moments being posted like that.

0

u/2Wieners_1Bun 1d ago

What does China have to do with it? 🤣

Spoooky

1

u/1m_d0n3_c4r1ng 16h ago

Because if these American parents at least uploaded it to an American service. They would have their own laws protecting the content in some way. China saves everything the west uploads on their servers and no country can do shit about that ever.

On a side note I personally as a European, rather use Chinese services than American, seeing which direction the US is heading. But I put myself in the shoes of the American kids being exploited here.

1

u/2Wieners_1Bun 15h ago

The shoes of the people exploiting their own children?

Somehow that makes China bad? Lol

-5

u/xXTheLastCrowXx 1d ago

If we had phones with quality cameras, then yeah. I'm sure they would've.

Instead there are videos of me flying across the house, dancing to Michael Jackson and the bee gees.

You'll be ok, and so will the kids.

3

u/numbersthen0987431 1d ago

That generation volunteered to watch that content.

These children did not volunteer for this.

Consent is important, but too many people keep outing themselves that they don't acknowledge consent.

2

u/TheAskewOne 1d ago

Yeah well I’m part of a generation that watched traumatizing stuff, the difference is we didn’t talk about it because our parents would’ve told us to fuck off and man up, but we were scared all the same. I remember spending nights wide awake because of the terror and not daring to move. We weren’t tough, we just internalized that we shouldn’t ever admit to having feelings.

1

u/jlynnstamps95 1d ago

Actually yeah this is no scarier than a Goosebumps movie, perspective fr

2

u/StaffNo6120 1d ago

When a child reads a book or watches a movie they are doing so out of choice. It's called agency. Even if the parent has forced them to read the book, they can do so at their own pace and interpret it in their own way.

A parent shoving a kid into a bathroom, filming them, scaring them and then uploading it to the internet removes all agency from the equation.

-2

u/xXTheLastCrowXx 1d ago

You don't need consent to scare someone.

You and many other are using that term very loosely.

1

u/StaffNo6120 1d ago

Interestingly i didn't use the term consent once in that comment. You may have invented someone to argue with.

0

u/xXTheLastCrowXx 1d ago

That comment was meant for someone else that was mentioning consent. You'll find the invented person if you look through the comments.

-2

u/0neshoein 1d ago

They’re talking about the show lol.

1

u/xXTheLastCrowXx 1d ago

Movies, shows, and books.

-1

u/0neshoein 1d ago

Ah, well you said “watched” and when you said “grew up” I assumed you meant millennials.

1

u/xXTheLastCrowXx 1d ago

Yeah, I meant millennials. I had to look it up, I totally thought we had goosebumps movies... My mistake.

I always thought the puppet master had his own movie

-2

u/erything4sale 1d ago

Waaay too many soft people these days smh.

0

u/StrikingPossession18 1d ago

We did this all the time back in the late 90s and early 2000s. People need to stop bubble wrapping everything

3

u/scotchegg72 1d ago

Erm, no we didn’t

1

u/StrikingPossession18 1d ago

We did and it was a glorious time

2

u/BumWink 1d ago edited 1d ago

This wasn't even possible in the 90s or early 2000s...

Surely you can understand jump scaring or playing on imagination is not comparable to what appears a real supernatural horror

Like there's a difference in my memory between being scared & moments where I had pure terror like this, I mean I can still feel some things in my stomach 30 years later when I think about them.

1

u/StrikingPossession18 1d ago

On Halloween it was and or your friends doing stuff that still stays with you 28 years later

1

u/BumWink 1d ago

But you know it's Halloween...

That's how most memories work, lol, but it's not the same feeling 28 years later.

0

u/StrikingPossession18 1d ago

I dont think you are truly understand the level of terror we went too lol

1

u/BumWink 1d ago

I understand entirely, I just don't think it's the same type of traumatising but I guess you can't really know the difference unless you've felt traumatised by something?

1

u/sengokufan 23h ago

Everyone at least of early Gen Z was also taught Bloody Mary, so us kids were also seeking this kind of stuff from a young age too.

If anything teaching your kids to have a bit of fear can be a useful lesson. Obviously with nuance though.

-5

u/Competitive-Rub-4270 1d ago

Its a harmless prank, quit being cartoonishly soft

Popup ads in the 90s is not the same thing as this.

Also, 7 is very different from 9

I’m not sure you are fine bruv

"traumatized"

0

u/Nuclear_Hoarder 8h ago

There is no trauma measuring contest but if you call this trauma then you must be made of cotton candy.

-2

u/LowerBar2001 1d ago

Lol found the children of reddit.

-6

u/Green_Mix5839 1d ago

Chopper parent 1 this is ground control. You are too high to operate. This will not traumatise children, please come down from the clouds.

5

u/Striking_Try4684 1d ago

Idk man. When I saw The Ring around this age, I convinced myself for like a year that I’d see the girl in tree lines or dark parts of the house lol.

Definitely not “traumatized” but it really fucked me up for a minute there

2

u/BasketOld3242 1d ago

I remember reading one of those creepy chain emails as a kid that had a jump scare photo of the girl from the exorcist at the end, I was totally convinced she was going to murder me through the dialup. Kids are gullible and easily spooked.

-2

u/powerhammerarms 1d ago

Why the hell would you think it's appropriate to diagnose these kids as being traumatized?

The word traumatize gets thrown around way too much. It doesn't mean that you've been upset. It doesn't mean that you remember an event. It means that you've been affected so much that from that point forward you can't function normally.

Is that really what you're claiming is happening here? We shouldn't scare children? Should we get rid of Halloween and the dark? No movies, books, or stories of any kind about ghosts and monsters. Don't even talk about this stuff around kids lest they get scared and traumatized? Sure they may not be afraid in the moment if you're telling them in the day but what about at night when they're alone and trying to fall asleep and they remember it? They need to be protected from that?

Come on. This is what happens when people diagnose themselves from social media.
