Good. Then maybe they will be better equipped to deal with real scary things in life instead of fake things on a device.

More anxiety causes people to be less equipped for things…

You need to learn not to be anxious about things that aren’t real and pose no real threat to you. You learn not to be gullible as to believe everything you see on a device screen.

Let life do that naturally, you don’t need your parents scaring you to learn that. These are young children and it can affect their daily lives far greater than it would ours. As a child I was shown very bloody scenes from either jaws or some other shark movie by a close relative when I was 5-6ish. I was petrified of water afterward and developed sleeping problems. I would tense up every time I showered or peed out of fear, and my mom accompanied me until I stopped. By the time I was 6-7ish the fear got less severe, but I’ve never gotten over my fear of deep water, and sharks are one of my favorite animals now! My point is, children are not going to catch on to the lesson you’re assuming they will. You can explain it to them, but they will loose trust in you. They most likely will develop fears that will mess with them and may stick with them as adults. Children already develop enough trauma in childhood from peers or other experiences, don’t intentionally do this to children. Life will beat down on them in childhood and as they get older, your job is to guide them. Be your children’s safe space to go for guidance. Remember, fears like this also affect their schooling and social lives amongst their peers, it’s not just at home. Children that develop sleeping problems will struggle in school.
