Posting it on the internet? Totally agree. Shouldn't happen.

Kids getting scared and pranked? 100% normal part of growing up. Mind blowing to think otherwise.

The problem is that some of those kids are what? 5-6? At best, one or two are more likely to ke... 4-5? That's not an age where they can appreciate this sort of type 2 fun.

If they find their parents laughing, who set that up, they won't laugh it off as "oooh I was stupid, haha"

They will mark it as mockery and abuse of trust more likely, because this is, at that age, a development they haven't done yet.

That is something you can do to...6-8 year old. At this point, the also start start understanding the concept of irony and sarcasm, so don't be sassy sarcastic to your 4 year old children, they don't understand that inherently.

Can't say the exact age but people in my family started scaring me when I was real young. Sure it sucked but eventually it turned into fun. Scaring eachother was just the family dynamic i guess.

That said, being buried alive in a coffin / box is really one of my only fears as an adult...maybe getting locked in a trunk for a long time as a young kid by my sisters has something to do with that...lol.

You JUST said it..

It turned fun. It's age that makes that.

Or, in other situations, it's coping. Dealing with it.

Usually, people who say "oh, this happened to me as a kid and I turned out just fine" are not entirely 'just fine'.

Of course, there are differences in individuals and differences especially how those jokes are handled.

Worst all do is exposing their children to the Internet, in a time where as much of a screenshot is enough for gen ai to generate pictures and video of nigh any and every content.

Psychologically, some of those did okay, some parents (like the one of that girl who held the door shut) just don't do anything... Actually positive or even neutral.
