When I around that age I was TERRIFIED of bloody marry. So much so I would not look at a mirror in the dark till I was an adult. 25 years later I still don’t really feel great about mirrors in dark rooms and always catch my self avoiding eye contact with them in dark rooms. If my parents did this to me as a kid I would have probably had a heart attack.

Same. I don't fuck with mirrors in a dark room

this is an irrational phobia and should've ended as a child when the santa and tooth fairy conspiracy was rumbled

It’s not a phobia? It doesn’t affect my life or cripple me to the point where I can’t be in a room with a mirror. Just out of habit I avoid looking at dark mirrors. When I realize I’m doing it I just look at the mirror. You need to chill out make maybe log off the internet for a bit. Not everything is an extreme and not everyone is over reacting.

it's kind of a phobia, be honest, i praise your attitude of facing your fears and wilfully looking into the mirrors, in the early hours i think reptilian aliens are going to snatch me out of my bed so I understand things creeping you out but I understand if have an irrational phobia too

I mean objectively this is ridiculous as an adult.

I do my best, thank you, the mirrors are a great analogy of staring into the abyss and facing your fears which I think is brave and ultimately healthy, forcing it on children as young as these is bad but a child choosing to watch horror films is good, the kid who started fighting is a mini ubermensch and is better prepared for life

I'm in my mid-40s and still avoid looking at mirrors in the dark.

Looking at something in the dark for an extended period of time will cause your brain to distort the image to try to make sense of it. Unfortunately it's always something scary that ends up looking back at you. I learned this in uni, and finally realized why there's so many spooky stories about looking at yourself in the mirror in the dark.

I've been working on an idea that combines a mirror and an LCD screen so I can create a realistic 'there's someone behind you' in the mirror effect, for a haunted house experience 😋

I was just commenting how wild shit would have been if this was around during the Bloody Mary times 😭

My freaking uncle would put on this Halloween mask and scare me with it as a kid; hated it. I have been super easy to jumpscare my whole life. I wonder if it was his fault now.. not even kidding 😂😭

It's best to not mess with Bloody Mary. I once did the calling out her name thing, and a few minutes later, I heard footsteps outside my room. Something was pacing outside my door. There was nobody else at home except me. I was so scared that I just said that I was sorry to "Mary" and that I will never call her again and to please leave. I have never had that experience since.

To this day I don't know what in the hell did I summon, but I will always remember to not mess with these so-called "urban legends" ever again.

I am not a religious person. I don't believe in an afterlife, don't believe there's a human soul that carries on after the body dies. But I won't discount the possibility that there's otherworldly stuff out there that we don't understand, so I don't fuck with that Bloody Mary shit either.

Religion and spirituality are two very different things.

I read in a book when I was a kid that if you looked over your shoulder in the mirror at night, you’d see the face of the person you would marry. That shit sounded so scary I face away from the mirror in the bathroom when I turn the lights off at night.

I’ve always known the Bloody Mary thing is bullshit but I’ll never try it to find out lol. I’m actually to this day still a little scared to try something I only heard about as a kid. I can imagine these kids got even more scared than me at that age from this. So I’m still thinking about Bloody Mary 20 years later, these kids just might be thinking about this prank for years to come as well.

Omg that was my first thought! I am still afraid of Bloody Mary and I’m 27! I can’t even pee with the lights off at night
