Looking for some support
I live in a rural area disabled and financially limited like most of the world. I have exhausted my efforts in trying to get some mental health had found one but it was not very helpful ended up being Telehealth even though it was a local place that I went in person to do intake and they just set me up with a Telehealth with a totally different provider. I called every place within an hour from me and not one is taking new patients. I honestly don’t understand why it’s so difficult to get any service of any kind anymore. It’s like the entire world went totally backwards within a year. I understand Covid torched the entire small and medium businesses but this is getting ridiculous. Just hoping maybe someone has some idea I’m missing.

Honestly, it's that there's a lot more people accessing therapy, so it's harder to get someone local most of the time. Those taking patients prefer to set demands for how often in our area. Telemed ends up being what works for most people as a result.

There should be a number you can call through your insurance. If it’s not on the back of your insurance card, then it might be on their website. Or you can call the other numbers on the card and ask for the number for mental health. They should be able to give you a better list of providers that take your insurance.
Alternatively, there might be services in your area that support low income and disabled families. Some require that you already have a mental health diagnosis, some don’t. They’re hard to find, in my experience. Just start calling around. If you get a no, ask them for a number you might call instead. Some of these services will set you up with a caseworker that will do weekly check ins, they might even come to your home.

I just am started with Charlie health is that an organization you’ve tried? If they aren’t available to you your insurance or mental health number should be able to connect you with more resources.

What part of the states are you in? I struggle with mental health and I work in mental health. I have for 14 years. I’ve been where you’re at as well. Every state has different local crisis centers. They have urgent care lobbies. And those urgent care lobbies a lot of people come in either because they’re out of medication or they need to be on medication or they are struggling temporarily. I have gone to some of the places that I’ve literally worked at. Just to get stabilized to get started with Services or restarted with Services. If you let me know what state you’re in, I can find out for you.

Northern Minnesota. I used to have a decent mental health but it was cut from insurance apparently they are suing each other over the clinic not providing medical records to the insurance upon request or something insane like that. It immediately made thousands without mental health in the area this happened over 2 years ago but the massive amount was likely not possibly able to be absorbed in even a large area. I called every place possible on and off insurance even outside the 50 mile radius the ones who answered all said the same thing we can add you to a wait list but we are not accepting new patients. The insurance lie and claim there are providers available even though this is incorrect. I even filed a complaint with them and they just sent me names from the list I already tested. I will try the suggestion of using other search’s and I’m my against telemedicine but because I’m now left untreated with possible bi polar disorder confirmed ptsd major depression disorder along with the physical disability I’m just trying to find an alternative as I’m literally at my limit over the last two years I have lost everything minus my home and my youngest child who’s probably the biggest issue right now. I’m on Reddit because I’m out of ideas and it’s becoming harder to find the strength to keep going when every day another wall gets stacked on top of you.
