Info Second Friendly Reminder: Provide either name & location of eatery, or proof of connection to Singapore

First off, thank you everyone for helping this community of food lovers grow so quickly over the past few years. Your support and participation is greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, this growth is also fueling an increasing number of daily posts that are difficult to moderate. These are often picture-only posts with no indication of where they were taken, no proof whether they are even from Singapore. In an effort to curb this type of posting, the mod team will now delete such posts.

This move should have no impact on the majority of posters. Tourists and visitors to Singapore are always welcomed to ask questions about where or what to eat. And so long as the name of a restaurant, hawker stall, cafe and its address is provided, such posts will not be deleted.

Home Cooks and Chefs of Singapore: We continue to welcome your posts! However, we do need to add a one time verification step to ensure you are truly posting from Singapore and not posting from another country. All that is required is for you to make one post of your food in Singapore. For example, include a picture of your food by a HDB block or any identifiable Singapore landmark, or a picture of your food with a physical print of The Straits Times from this year. Once we see that, we will add you as an approved user of /r/SingaporeEats and you can post your meals without any further interference.

Once again, thank you everyone for helping make this a vibrant and active community!

Total cooking hours: 5.5 hours

Today, I made French Cuisine for dinner! Also my first time cooking almost everything I made today 😼

I made: - Potato Potage with Toasted Baguette (using leftover duck fat) - Gougères (A savory French Cheese Puff using Gruyère cheese) - Duck Breast in a Berry and Red Wine (Shiraz) Reduction Sauce - Tarte Au Citron (pâte sucrée)

I wanted to do Foie Gras but the house will become VERY oily 😭😭 Shoutout to my sole working stove for surviving today's abuse

Psps: Idk how to do plating 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Is it going to be: Matsuya > Sukiya > Yoshinoya?

Spied this wall ad at Suntec basement...

Wow, just look at the quality of beef in that bowl: it's so meaty and simply enticing!

Family members have tried their beef bowls in Japan recently -- the consensus is the best is yet to come. Or in this case, coming soon lol

Any foodie here had a similar experience? Do share your thoughts so we can temper expectations and excitement accordingly ;)

I'm really looking forward to November, when we'll get to taste this brand's beef bowl and decide who's tops.

As it is, I gathered that many here are saying Sukiya > Yoshinoya. Judging just by that wall poster, it might be inevitable that Sukiya would take second place :)

We'll see!

Bangers & mash Combo ($9.50)

The Smoked Chicken Garlic Bratwurst is my favourite while the Pork Schnitzel portion is worth for the price.

Saw them advertise their new place so I decided to pop by and try and see what it is about. I'm no food connoisseur by all means but as a consumer, the place is quite small, so if you're looking to seat 6 or more pax it will be hard. Food taste is mild, we got the Cool Broth and Brothy Broth. Cool Broth is very light and mild while the Brothy Broth was thicker, not as thick as Japanese Tonkotsu broth personally so it kinda falls short in expectations personally as I like my broth SUPER thick. Those who aren't fond of strong flavours will like it. Portion-wise, personally I find it quite small, I added meat but still, it was insufficient. I could eat 2 bowls myself. Big eaters can go 3 bowls.

hi all! I lived in sg for 17 years of my life before moving away to my home country of nepal. I genuinely miss my late night prata runs and I especially miss the mutton curry that used to come with the prata. I was just wondering if anyone has a recipe for it because I’m craving it so bad but we don’t have anything in nepal that tastes similar to it 😭 please can someone come forward with a recipe I beg

What do the locals think about the Malaysia dry noodles (dark type)

I literally cannot find any stall that replicate such taste in Singapore. Is it because the locals do not like that version and its taste?

Ordered a few dishes but the only really notable one was the red wine lamb, it was surprisingly really good after tasting all the other dishes which were more on the bland side. Meat was tender and flavourful and it was incredibly fragrant highly recommend.

Was jio-ed by a friend to eat here for dinner after my dental appointment. It's my first time here and it has a pleasant environment for dates. Food is great imho. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab pasta and added noodles as an add on, could also add on extra meat if you like. Sirloin steak is decent, definitely not world class standard but better than hawker centre western. Chocolate Mousse is the BOMB i tell you, you NEED TO ORDER IT!

crab roe noodle + the crab roe soup bun, honestly seeing all the TikToks about the noodles it doesn’t really live up to the hype maybe it’s just the store but it’s abit bland. The bun was actually pretty good. overall it was quite filling but I went in thinking it would be absolute banger but had my expectations dashed lol

Travelling to Singapore with Shellfish allergy

I have a severe shellfish allergy particularly to shrimp/prawns/oysters, so I’m looking for hawker stalls and restaurants where I can eat relatively safely without worrying about shrimp paste, dried shrimp, seafood stocks or cross-contamination.

Which places would you recommend, and are there any popular food spots I should completely avoid because of the risk? Personal experiences and specific stall recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Another great Yummy combo: Lu rou fan with extra pork chop @$7

Post image

Really just can't get enough of the tasty food served at the NTWU canteen in Punggol Coast bus interchange ;)

Their lu rou fan is incredible, boasting meaty strips of braised pork, a well cooked hard boiled egg and a heapful of preserved veg.

A classic which doesn't pale in comparison to what you can savour in the land of lu rou fan, which I'd just visited :)

Imho, it's actually better -- what I ate in Taiwan had 95% fat!

On its own, it's a filling meal (at just $4). But slap on a piece of their seasoned fried pork chop and voila! The meat lover is lifted to the next level and fully satisfied lol

P.S. If you haven't visited, their fried rice with pork chop -- of course! -- is great for first timers. If there is indeed a "king" of fried rice, this is a silent one which not only looks after your tummy but also your wallet :)

Best Buffet Catering Recommendations

Hello everyone! 😊 I’m 25 (F) and I’ve recently been tasked with my first arranging buffet catering for my company’s celebration.

I really want to make a good recommendation, so I’m hoping to get some suggestions from people who have tried different catering companies!

I’m looking for **halal-certified catering that would appeal to people of all ages.** Ideally, the food should be delicious, have a good variety, enough to leave a great impression on everyone and the caterer should be reliable!

If you’ve personally tried any good halal-certified caterers in Singapore, I’d really appreciate your recommendations and honest reviews. Please share your experiences.

Thank you so much in advance! ❤️

Got 2 meats (chicken and fish) + 1 veg for $11. Taste was really good and there were quite a lot of options too. Guess the Airport tax is added on Cai fan too!

Grains & Co

i tried Grains & Co options and their OG brown rice, and dang was it the best brown rice i've ever eaten. I cook brown rice before in rice cooker etc but it taste nowhere near theirs.

Legit qn, does anyone know how they cook it? i was tempted to think they add butter inside but the calories and macros don't seem to suggest anything additional added.

appreciate your insights!

Restaurant Fish & Co. weekday value lunch

I was in Ang Mo Kio hub as I was traveling from Woodlands to home and looking for food there. I found out about Fish & Co. having weekday value lunch. It comes with a free drink of my choice and it have 20% off for starters at the other side of the weekday menu. I spent $15.95 on my salmon Cajun value lunch and ($11.95 - $2.39) $9.56 for my grilled calamari. Altogether is $25.51 + 10% service charge, $2.55 and 9% GST, $2.53. I find that the food is more valuable at this time. Overall it is fresh, savoury and ideal for my palate. I also take pictures of the weekday value lunch menu.

Food People Tempura Strips with McCormick Shake Shake Seaweed Seasoning

Post image
19 Upvotes

Ordered them from RedMart. The Tempura 甜不辣 is pretty good but very dangerous to deep fried, as it started to popped when the outer skin crisps up. Best drop them in when the oil is still cold. Super nice if deep fried until golden brown, but this batch i took them out when its light brownish.

The McCormick Shake Shake Seaweed Seasoning well....i always see overseas sellers selling their own MCD copycat blend, but first time saw McCormick have them, taste almost the same as MCD version, but seems to lack of seaweed.

Ordered abit too much and tried to tank it but failed and had to leave defeated. Mapo tofu had no numbing flavour but tasted alright, the chicken tasted of authentic guangdong flavour and the Xiao long Bao was probably the star of the show the skin of it was not too thin and not too thick but just right. The only bad thing was the beef it was WAY too sweet.
