PC Build/Setup Gotta love a nollie controller with signalrgb

I have been using signalrgb for a good while now and then i saw the Nollie controller for rgb. Set it up yesterday with my asiahorse nyota fans and i am really happy how it turned out.

Damn dat GPU rgb so fire

2

u/foundingfatfather Oct 16 '25

Yeah nollie made me rethibk my Lian li setup. Really no point in buying expensive fans for RGB control

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Exactly, lian Li charges waaaay to much just for some fans

Drizzle is the only mode that I use for my strimmer

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Fr its the best looking one

Do you have any links to suggested tutorials/guides to do something like this?

3

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

I can try to explain it as Well as i can here for you.

Step 1. Connect all of your fans 3pin rgb cables to the controller, each fan in a separate port. (Remember, this controller is ONLY for argb, so it doesnt give the fans any power so you need to have a separate fan hub for the power i use the arctic fan hub and Connect all of your fans power cables to the fan hub.

Step 2. Connect the nollie controller to your PSU for power (8pin variant uses sata and 16pin variant uses dual molex) and Connect the 4pin PWM cable from the controller on your motherboard.

Step 3. Connect the fan hub (the hub to power your fans) to your PSU with SATA (depending on which model you have) and Connect the USB cable from the fan hub to your motherboard.

Step 4. Once you have connected everything, start your PC and double check so everything is on and working.

Step 5. Go into signalrgb —> devices —> nollie controller. Once you are here you Will see x amount of channels with a ”rgb strip” in place. Now you Will need to first paint your fan to see how many LEDS it uses. I know it sounds confusing but i am going to link the Guy who helped me his video for this part so you understand. Once you have figured our how many leds your fan has, you are going to add a new fan on each channel and pick a fan that looks like yours and has the SAME amount of LEDS.

Step 6. Here is the final part, after you have fixed all of your channels and added all of your fans with the right amount the LEDS. You fix the layout of your entire system in signalrgb in the layout section. There you choose all of your fans and they Will light up to show exactly which one is which and you start doing the layout. I Will show a pic of mine.

Hope this helped!

Link for what bro?

2

u/EndUserGamer Oct 16 '25

An argb nollie to tailslide, to kick flip out, does sound pretty rad. /s

2

u/LoganPlayz010907 Oct 18 '25

I just switched from a chroma to a Airgoo. Already better. 50 fps RGB at all times which is nice. Better than the random stutter and also I get rid of razer too

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 18 '25

How can you see like how many fps the LEDS are?

2

u/FitzChan Jan 28 '26

You’re using the Nollie and Lian Li wireless strimers? You have to have the app set up through L-Connect for the strimers to work correct?

1

u/N7LP400 Oct 16 '25

Currently using the Nollie 16, one heck of a device

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Fr fr so easy to set up too

1

u/huzarensalade2001 Oct 16 '25

Holy shit. What atx-cable is that?

2

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Thanks bro, u mean the strimer cable? Its the Lian Li 24pin wireless one

2

u/LoganPlayz010907 Oct 18 '25

I have it. It’s now in a different build because I replaced it with a cable that is actually addressable via SRGB.

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 18 '25

Ahhh nice nice

2

u/muuffin_07 Oct 18 '25

Nice! The Lian Li Strimer cables are pretty sleek. How's the wireless functionality working out for you?

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 18 '25

So far it has been working great, no issues at all, pretty amazing controlling the rgb with just a USB controller connected to a normal USB slot

1

u/huzarensalade2001 Oct 16 '25

Thanks! Your setup looks amazing!

2

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Thanks bro i appreciate it!

1

u/Happy_Brilliant7827 Oct 16 '25

Is it possible to set up the cable to follow? Or does it not look as good?

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

I think its maybe possible but you have to use lian li’s own software and effect because this strimer cable doesnt work with signalrgb directly.

2

u/therealshakur Oct 16 '25

Asiahorse makes a strimer that's 1/3 the cost of lian li (doesn't include extension cables) and works great with signal

1

u/Secret_Leadership687 Oct 16 '25

i can get my Asia horse to have that same affect it acts like one led for each point on the the strip

1

u/Economy_Gear4760 Jan 02 '26

Asiahorse Strimer Kit
Does this Asiahorse strimer fully work with SignalRGB? Its not in the component list. How do you set it up?
It shouldn't make any difference whether you connect it directly to the motherboard (Asrock Steel Legend B850) or via Nollie, right?

1

u/therealshakur Jan 02 '26

That looks like a kit that has both of the strimers (24 pin atx & 2x8 pin GPU) each strip has 80/81 LEDs so a total of 161 LEDs for both strips according to the Amazon page which I'm pretty sure is incorrect. A typical ARGB header I think is rated for 120 LEDs and or 3amps/15 watts (check your manual) but that obviously varies depending on motherboard. The rating of the LED which isnt always provided is also a factor.

I have the 24pin atx aurora model plugged in through my nollie16 and is fully supported but signal shows it has 108 LEDs and not the 80 listed on Amazon. Setting it up shouldn't be an issue if using a nollie. Using a motherboard ARGB header it might be slightly more complicated.

If you plug them into the motherboard header I would recommend putting each strip on its own header. If you don't have enough headers you could put both on 1 header but I would probably lower the brightness on the strips to maybe 80% or less (if you manage to get all 161 LEDs to light on a single header) just to make sure you're not overloading the header. Although I'm not even sure it will display all 161 LEDs because signalrgb will have a max count on that header.

If you need help setting them up, feel free to message me and I can walk you through the process.

1

u/Economy_Gear4760 Jan 02 '26

Do you have the exact same version of the 24pin atx aurora?
There is an "standard" aurora version with 24 pin & 2x8 pin strimer (which i want to buy) and the aurora pro version with a single 24 pin stimer.
Asiahorse Aurora ARGB PSU Cables Cover Kit (picture tells 81+80 LED´s)
Asiahorse Aurora Pro ARGB PSU Cover (picture tells 108 LED´s)
Maybe they are diffrent lenght? “standard” has no length specification, the pro version says 205mm.

Im planning to use a nollie16, so i would be fine with that? Or just in case i use the aurora pro?

1

u/therealshakur Jan 02 '26

Went back and checked my Amazon orders and I did get the pro. At that time I'm pretty sure that was the only available version but not 100% sure as it was newly released. So maybe the LED count is actually correct but I know in the past with asiahorse, the LED count isn't always accurate based off all the fans I've purchased to make my build function as I want.

So if you actually get the kit that is currently unsupported you might run into an issue. I know mine works exactly like the lian li version where all LEDs are addressable and in the correct layout. I'm not sure if the other model is the same. If you manually set it up as a strip it will show in layouts as one long strip and not 4 strips of 20 for example. So it will probably look and operate funny.

There is a way to create your own layout but I'm pretty sure that's a fairly advanced method but as far as I know there is a tutorial on how to do it on the signalrgb site. If you go that route and you can't find it let me know and I'll dig through my history as it was given to me in the past.

u/Happy_Brilliant7827 Oct 16 '25

Huh. Guess ill buy a argb 3pin knock-off

Yesss thank you again for your help!

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Its a controller that you Connect all of your fans argb 3pin cable to the controller, i used 1 port of each fan and then you can controll the led/rgb on each fan separate.

If you have rgb fans now and use a effect from signalrgb, the effect gets mirrored on every fan so you cant do any cool sequences with the effects like this going from left to right.

Hope you understood what i meant, if you have any questions just ask!

2

u/Select-Fig-8384 Oct 16 '25

Thanks for the explanation, i just ordered one from aliexpress 👌 Hope i dont get scammed but we will see when it arrives

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Nice did u get the 8 pin or 16?

2

u/Select-Fig-8384 Oct 16 '25

I wanted the 16 pin but found the 8 pin version for 5 bucks on aliexpress

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Damn how tf u got it so cheap😭i payed 30$ for the 16 one

1

u/Select-Fig-8384 Oct 16 '25

Because of that im worried i got scammed but we will see 😅

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Yea see if has been sold many times and reviews just in case

1

u/Select-Fig-8384 Oct 16 '25

99 times (100 including mine)

2

u/iarkosios Oct 16 '25

all argb 3 pins connect to the controller but curious what is the controller output? Sata and 1PWM to the motherboard?

2

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

The 8pin variant is sata and 1 pwm but the 16pin is dual molex because i think it supports more ampere for all the rgb. All the 3pins are connected to the controller yes.

2

u/iarkosios Oct 16 '25

gotcha thanks for clarifying and which one is the one you're using in this post, the 8 pin or 16 pin?

2

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

I am using the 16 port because i have 8+ fans so i needed this one and luckily my psu had molex cable connected.

2

u/iarkosios Oct 16 '25

gotcha thanks again for clarifying and nice build!

2

u/beavizzz Oct 17 '25

BTW, I have Nollie16 and as I didn't have 2xmolex, I bought 2x"sata->molex" adapters and use them So far everything works with all my devices, 287 leds in total.

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 17 '25

Ohh Yea thats smart, i luckily had molex cable connected already. I have only 80 leds, damn 287?? How many fans do u have

2

u/beavizzz Oct 17 '25

I have 6 fans, approx 4x16 + 3x12 = 90 leds?, but I have other cheap bling-bling stuff : AOI tube housings, RAM 'heat spreaders', GPU holder, 'strimmer' (just a led strip on top of actual cable). Check this out

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 17 '25

Damn looking nice i like the aio tubes rgb housing

Which effect is that ?

2

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Visor i belive its called

1

u/DontBlnkBadWolf Oct 16 '25

Is Lian Li the only Strimer that can connect to those ports that are marked Lian Li? Because there are other companies that make those cables now.

2

u/therealshakur Oct 16 '25

As far as I'm aware, yes.

Most of those other strimers you mention don't function like lian Li's version. I only found one that worked the same or is very very similar (asiahorse) that has individually addressable LED's. Most of the other brands are very cheap and tie LEDs together or mirror strips which doesn't look as good.

1

u/DontBlnkBadWolf Oct 16 '25

Well crap, LOL. Thank you for letting me know, I'm trying to keep everything within budget, and they are just a little bit too much but I'll try to do it.

2

u/therealshakur Oct 16 '25

Just keep in mind that the asiahorse version doesn't come with extension cables so if your cables aren't long enough they might look funny. I use mine to fill gaps in my PC case and don't use them on the 24 pin cable.

1

u/molina336 Oct 16 '25

For some reason my gpu in signal is 180ed. No matter what I do with positioning and flipping it, it doesn’t change. When is set these chase effects the gpu goes backwards. It’s odd.

2

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

So no matter how u flip its still 180ed?

1

u/molina336 Oct 16 '25

Exactly. I can 180 it and the lights will still go opposite of everything else. 180 it back they continue to run opposite of fans.

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

And what effect are you using?

I’ll check it out! I would like to learn more. I’m A fellow Nollie user and could use some help!

1

u/kudosmog Oct 16 '25

I wish I had room for this. I'm using a Jonsbo d41 mesh and can't find any room for a controller. They're all like 10+ devices and I only have three. It's a white case/build too so putting it somewhere visible would throw off the whole vibe. I've got one of the 3 connected fans and the full rgb won't light up connected to its own argb port on the motherboard so I need a controller to get it to work.

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Do you not have any room in the back?

2

u/kudosmog Oct 16 '25

No it's super tight back there. It's a pretty small tower.

1

u/ExistingComb8291 Oct 16 '25

Ahh damn thats tuff

All my cables are shoved into the space under the PSU. I haven't tried a nollie yet, just a bunch of others. I might be able to get it on the inside cover under the PSU though. Will have to see. I just checked the specs on the nollie and it seems to be smaller than the ones I've tried.

1

What's a Nollie Controller?

1

u/el_pome Oct 18 '25

Openrgb better and opensource

2

u/beavizzz Oct 18 '25

So far II have found only 1 thing better in OpenRGB: possibility to combine eefects in effect called "Layers". Sorry, but IMHO all other aspects are worse and I don't care about it being opensource.

1

u/Ty_go100 Oct 30 '25

what rgb cable is that?

1

u/Nhan-7603 Nov 13 '25

Hi, I cannot fully control my mainboard’s RGB light. It keeps recognizing it as only 1 LED. Someone give me an advice please. MB model: B650E Aorus Stealth Ice

1

u/sioid123 Nov 22 '25

I am using nollie 32. It controllers the strimers too

1

u/Omarkoman Dec 30 '25

This looks cool.

Can I please get some pointers here?

I currently have 12 LED fans (Phantek D30) as well as LED strips around the case and motherboard. Curently they are all connected for LED to one single connector on the board and I am using the Armory crate to control the LED lights but obviously I can only have one effect.

I bought the Nollie 8 to connect the various parts sesparately to the controller.

Can I understand, using signalrgb, can I control each channel on the Nollie separately ? Is it easy to setup what is connected to that particular channel ?

thanks in advance!
