First of all, isn’t it strange how every single child on the Enterprise is “very mature for their age”?
Life as a child on a starship must be terrifying to say the least. At least once a week there’s a red alert followed by violent shaking; the kids are probably sharing any and all all information on red alerts amongst themselves.
Then, there’s the “away mission roulette wheel” where there’s a significant possibility that a parent isn’t coming home. Most children are going to be at least aware of that possibility and will probably know another child that did loose a parent during an away mission. Children that lost both parents are going to be more of an urban legend as they would have been removed from the ship, thus loosing their friends as well…
How do people like Counselor Troy resolve this?
By encouraging the children to make arts and crafts in the likeness of the one person that has any control over the terror and uncertainty they experience!
Have the children unconsciously convinced themselves that the captain will spare them, their loved ones, and not fly the ship into immediate danger if their crappy cardboard art is good enough, is it ever good enough?

Side effects may include: nausea, elevated heart rate, excessive sweating, turning into a glowing invisible lizard creature, transporter psychosis, Space Madness, blood mutating into a liquid polymer, insomnia, and dry mouth.
Do not take Inaprovaline if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, have been impregnated against your will by a noncorporeal entity, or are planning on being joined with a Trill symbiont.
For erections lasting longer than four hours, please report to the holodeck immediately.

Instead they went backwards.
In the TOS timeline, Khan could have stood on the street outside Admiral Marcus’s dumb meeting with a phaser rifle and taken the entire top of the building off in a few seconds. Or used a photon grenade launcher. Hell he wouldn’t need one. He could throw it.
In OUR time we can take out the top of a building more effectively
Instead his little ship shoots….green flechettes?? WTF is that?? They can’t even penetrate a fucking pillar! Pike survives one point blank to his chest for a while.
This is why we thawed Khan out?? This is what we’ve been developing for 30 years? And whatever Kirk is shooting is similar tech. Green pachok pachok shooters that don’t do shit
HAVE YOU TRIED USING PHASERS??

I swear I'm not doing it on purpose.
It's just you know, heat of the mission, things happen, you get wrapped up in fixing the sociopolitical problems of the world you're visiting in a way that doesn't violate the Prime Directive, you forget that way back at the very top of the trip a security officer died suddenly.
I mean what is the worst that could happen? They order a crew rotation and I have to awkwardly remind them that the person they are rotating has been dead for three weeks?
Fuck doesn't the chief medical officer report these deaths on their own anyhow?

So everyone talks about using the 2369 solution of making a transporter duplicate first, but in 2266 the transporter created a different type of transporter duplicates that just had different personalities. All it took was going through the transporter with some magnetic ore.
In this case, we could get the softer, more empathetic Tuvix, or we could just call him "Ix," and then we'd also get "Tuv," who'd be... Less indecisive.

Sooooo........
When are we going to stage a performance of Hamlet in the original Klingon?
Who will the cast be?
Which PetaQ! Are we going to kill to play Yorick posthumously?
Who directs?
Which gay man do we hire for the costumes?
We need to figure this out!

Since Soong androids are so hard to find, he might want to use another body sometimes, just to be safe.

They'd get a place to stay with food and water. I'd even teach them to sing degrading songs about people who get injured in the factory
