You know, at some point, I kinda wondered if Audrey is an AFAB Femboy who can't afford HRT yet
Yeah,
I know that some boys can undoubtely look feminine.
But, I mean. This hypothesis would make a lot of sense here.
The fact Audrey is so fem passing without anything else could be easily explained if they were AFAB to begin with.
And the scene in the pool kinda gave me the impression that he did wear his swimsuit not only because he likes feminine stuff, but also because he want to hides his forms.
Hence why I suspect Audrey is transmac at the beginning of his own journey.

I believe that everyone is reading too much into it. Sometimes a femboy is just a femboy.

Yeah, as a feminine man, the discourse around this comic series really confirms my dysphoria about all this. You really can't just be a femboy, I guess you have to want to be a woman to look like that.
Or at least that's what people see. It sucks. Sometimes you just want to look cute.

I think people are definitely just assuming that in regards to the fact that Audrey adopted a woman's name and is assumed to be a woman by everyone they interact with and speak to in the comic, rather than just looking cute. Don't worry about it, you can look however you want, and lots of real folks out doing that every day :)

Don't worry, some of us see you, and are happy to help spread awareness and encourage men like you to express yourselves the way you like 💖
I love Audrey's character, and I really hope he's the representation I think he is. Femboys are so valid and so beautiful ☺️

The really discouraging part about this isn't just the character treatment but even assumptions about the author being made.
Despite me being on a secondary account and anonymous to begin with I don't even feel comfortable with talking openly about myself, it really has a stifling effect.
Also it's very nice of you to be encouraging and even going beyond that.

I hear that, it's discouraging for me to see as well, though in a different way of course.
I love all different kinds of people, but men who like to dress feminine are a group I've always had a soft spot for, and I've taken more of an interest as I got older. I've done some research about it, and there are many different reasons why a man might enjoy having a feminine presentation. One really can't assume gender identity, sexually preferences, kinks, or anything really, based on a man enjoying having a feminine appearance, and especially not just for writing a comic about it
I have a sweet friend who has invited me to participate in his exploration of feminization, and it's been a really lovely journey for both of us. It's a joy to know how happy this makes him, and I want to encourage that joy in others too. There are people out there who love and understand you just as you are, but sometimes it's tricky to find each other amongst all the negative noise.

Personally I've gotten there through sex and still enjoy that but it does not imply that to be a necessary component. In fact a large part of that is a response to societal views and that it doesn't feel safe in public. The assumption that being a cis man is this magic cloak of protection in public I have seen expressed here is frankly ridiculous. There are plenty of aspects of femininity I enjoy. In an ideal world I would prefer if they weren't seen as gendered at all, but things are as they are.
And I know some people who are supportive, it's actually been pretty fun to engage with things like makeup. I like learning new things and due to my socialization it's something I happen to still know less about than women generally absorb just passively.
And I acknowledge that it is an advantage to not *have* to be feminine presenting in public due to a lack of body dysphoria but it's not exactly pleasant to feel barred from it either.
Thank you for the text again, there are many who appreciate the support.

Let people have headcanons

When people are getting angry at the author for not confirming their headcanon I think it's overdone a little

Genuinely what does it mean though? I think there's some context I'm not aware of.

No sure what they meant, but the title refers to the old colloquialism "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" that is often used to reference the very different perspectives and mentalities of the opposite sex. Many feel like the title is a reference to Val being FtM trans as that would make Val a boy from Venus (a boy who originated and grew from the feminine).

While i subscribe that Audrey has told us the truth already, its possible.

I don't think the Boy From Venus is a vehicle for the Crying Game plot twists...

It could be!
I don't think that's the case personally, based on what we've seen of him so far, but I love that people can see different angles on Audrey and imagine what he could be... especially if that's something they can see of themselves in him!

Audrey is a manly man who does manly things like wear manly dresses and hangs out with cute rotmaxxing legendary super Saiyan Val on their quest to achieve the high score of the universe and maybe hold hands or something idk they don't really strike me as a couple yet maybe friends with Benny fits but even then it's probably like low-key at best if at all

If he wanted to be a girl they wouldn't say they are a boy??
Edit: to be clear this isn't true of everyone I just think he would be openly trans if he was.
Seems very sure if himself and knows what he wants

I've met trans guys that identify as femboys or otherwise voluntarily embrace their femininity. They're totally valid for that, and it doesn't make them any less of a man than a cis guy.

u/marsgreekgod 9d ago
Sure that's fine?
But that's them being who they want to be?
I agree?
1
u/NerdDetective 9d ago
Ah. If we agree, I don't think I understood your comment!
I read it as meaning trans men who are feminine should shouldn't be boys. If others read it the same way, that might be why you got some downvotes.

u/marsgreekgod 9d ago
No not at all Men of any kind can be feminine as they want . Some may do it as a step on a trans journey, others just because they want to. Or any other reason.
(And girls and reverse)
(And any other gender stuff)
Maybe I should edit original post I made it very sleepy

Didn't he say his current nickname "Audrey" was a feminine version of his birth name, (prob Adrien) that was a nickname given to him growing up as an insult because of how unusually feminine he was?
His whole taking the insult and dismantling it into something you can hold with pride wouldn't make sense if he was AFAB, he would've been considered a normal girl/woman.
It only makes sense for him to be bullied if he had been AMAB or if he was fem after coming out then it's just straight transphobia and dead naming but again, if these ppl knew him and purposely gave him the name Audrey, why do that when he would've already had a feminine birth name?
I think it's a interesting theory but personally it just doesn't hold up to me.
What I think is more likely:
A) both Val and Audrey are gender non- conforming cis people, meaning the title is focused mainly on Audrey even though he's not the protagonist, (could make sense if that's how Val see's him)
B) the Title is about both of them, making it a trans allegory for the both of them.
C) Val is trans and Audrey is Cis. Why do I think it makes more sense for Val to be trans masc over Audrey? Well Val is the protagonist of the boy from Venus, implying the title could be about them, alot of the story focuses on how gender non conforming Audrey is, almost alluding the title to be about Audrey which I believe is a trick because this is Val's story, so the plot twist would be how Val struggles with internalised sexism and a hate for "moids" making it impossible for them to identify with such after so many negative experiences.
Also Val prefer to go by a more masculine nickname, has more masculine interests and wears a shirt to the pool, that alone doesn't make somebody trans but I find it interesting how it's someone like Audrey specifically that helps Val to come out of their shell.
