Found a local copy in Canada and couldn't pass it up. Think I might have all of the heavy hitters on the Saturn now.
Just couldn't pass it up. Not letting this one double in price on me again.

I remember playing this game for the first time one afternoon way back in the day, at a Sears electronics department gaming kiosk.
I know what I'm playing tonight.

I'm working solo on porting Medal of Honor to the Sega Saturn, leveraging AI as a coding assistant to speed up the C development process.
Right now, the project is in its early stages (~10%). While the Saturn and PS1 handle 3D very differently, I'm working hard to optimize the engine and bring the experience as close to the PS1 version as the Saturn hardware allows.
Once the first level is playable, I'll share a test ISO with the community so you can try it on real hardware and share your feedback. Thanks for following along!
Guys, the use of AI is for mass asset conversion, code error analysis, and suggestions, but let's face it, I know many are criticizing me for using it, but I've been trying to port the game for a year now and it's not easy. Also, AI makes mistakes, but it helps in some parts. So, if you don't understand C++ where the game is being written, it wouldn't even start or would stop at the menu. But it runs the entire level, has music, a first-person model, it just doesn't have NPCs due to memory limitations, but I'll manage that soon by adjusting textures. Also, it will have a limit of two NPCs per area, I think it's very difficult to have three NPCs. Now, the logic part is already written. One thing is certain: this game isn't special to anyone except myself, and when it's ready, whoever wants to play it, plays it, or doesn't play it, simple as that.

Hey everyone,
I am thrilled to share that Blue Seed: Kushinada Hirokuden for the Sega Saturn is now fully playable in English!
For those unfamiliar, Blue Seed is a unique 1995 RPG/Card-battle hybrid based on the classic anime. Because of its heavy reliance on Japanese text for both the story and the card mechanics, it has been notoriously difficult for non-Japanese speakers to enjoy—until now.
This project involved extensive reverse-engineering to extract, translate, and re-insert the game's massive script, menus, and card attributes.
Where to get it:
You can find the patch, source files, and instructions directly on the GitHub repository:
https://github.com/retrogamingreloaded/blue-seed-kushinada-hiroku-den-translation
How to play:
Detailed patching instructions are available in the README. The patched image works beautifully on original hardware (via ODEs like Fenrir/Satiator) or modern Saturn emulators.
A huge thank you to the Saturn modding community for the documentation and tools that made this possible. Please check it out, report any bugs you find on GitHub, and enjoy this forgotten Saturn gem!

Hi, so I've been playing through Panzer Dragoon Saga, got to disc 3 and using my Kai to save games to, then I took the cart out to look at it, and noticed there was a 3 way switch on top, so I moved the switch a few times and just put the cart back in. Then when I loaded up my Saturn next time, I was greeted with the Kai menu screen (hadn't seen it before), then when I loaded Panzer Dragoon Saga Disc 3 up, my saves were completely gone, it's just showing Internal Memory, no icon for External Memory.
If I go into the memory manager on the Saturn I can only see the Kai software on it. Did I somehow delete my saves?!

Digital Monster Ver. S: Digimon Tamers is a Japan-only Sega Saturn game released by Bandai in 1998. In almost 30 years it has never received an English translation. Now it has one: a full English patch.
Let me be upfront from the first line: this translation was made with AI, only for personal use, and I'm sharing it for free in case other fans enjoy it. Please never upload it to romhacking sites – it isn't worthy of them.
Download: HERE 0.9.1
About the game
The Saturn becomes a fake 1998 PC running "DIGI OS". A Digital Monster Lab mails you a Digimon by mistake, and you raise it in folders on your desktop: feeding, cleaning, curing, training, shopping, reading mail and news on the Digimon NET, battling in the Virtual Colosseum and collecting evolution cards.
What's translated
A new half-width text engine was written so that two English letters fit in each of the game's 16x16 character cells.
How to patch – please read this part, it's where the game fails to boot
⚠️ The dump is 66 separate files (1 data track + 65 audio tracks) with a .cue that lists all of them. Many Saturn emulators can't load that kind of multi-file .cue (Yabause 0.9.15, for example, only accepts a .cue pointing to one single .bin), and a plain .iso boots but has no music. So the download includes everything you need to build a single-file BIN/CUE, the format every Saturn emulator can load:
Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (Japan) (Track 01).bin – CRC32 682478B5Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (English v0.9) (Track 01).binMake English BIN.bat and Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (English v0.9).cue from the download into that same folder.Make English BIN.bat. In a few seconds it joins the English data track and your original audio tracks into one file, Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (English v0.9).bin (about 138 MB).cat "Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (English v0.9) (Track 01).bin" "Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (Japan) (Track "{02..66}").bin" > "Digital Monster Ver. S - Digimon Tamers (English v0.9).bin"You must provide your own copy of the original Japanese game to apply it.
Checksums: patched Track 01 CRC32 32A6AF99 · single English BIN CRC32 7D30F867
Still not booting? Check that you are loading the new single-BIN .cue and that your emulator has a Japanese Saturn BIOS set up (the game is Japan-only).
"Isn't this just another MTL?"
I know many people don't like machine translations, and I understand why: too many of them are raw Google Translate output dumped into a ROM. This is not that, and it isn't comparable to Google Translate or similar tools. Not all AIs translate the same way, and the method matters even more than the tool:
It's the best that could be done with the sources available. The AI vs AI comparison below shows how big the difference between two AIs can be.
AI vs AI: why not all AI translations are equal
Before this release, ChatGPT had made a first pass on the game. When Claude checked it against the disc:
Claude fixed all of that, retranslated the whole script and caught its own mistakes by testing in an emulator. The full comparison report, with every example, is at the bottom of this post.
Want to make it better? Here's how
No translation is perfect, and a human touch can only make this one better. But please, before downvoting or calling it "slop" just because it's the trendy thing to say about anything AI, play the game and tell me where the actual problems are: which screen, which line, what it says and what it should say. Concrete reports are welcome and will go into the next version. Improving it with human input is far more useful than tearing it down a priori because an AI made it.
How it was made
Double AI check: ChatGPT made a first pass on the mail files (draft + terminology + audit). Claude then re-checked that work against the disc, decoded the font pixel by pixel, corrected the misread Japanese, retranslated the whole script from the Japanese (including the program strings the first pass had missed), wrote the text engine, relettered the graphics and tested everything in an emulator. ChatGPT's review notes were then checked again by Claude before being applied.
Sources consulted
Cross-check against Arvenyte's GameFAQs guide
Before release, the translation was checked against every section of Arvenyte's GameFAQs translation guide: interface, shop, other items, decoration items, evolution items, Net Search addresses, Colosseum medals, hackers and the "three choices". The check found one real error (a Net address) and four item names that could be better. Everything else matched.
The error: Net address "HOT,8"
Item names changed to follow the guide
| Japanese | Before | Now | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| お供え酒 | Holy Sake | Sake Offering | Sake Offering |
| ギザギザはさみ | Jagged Claw | Jagged Scissors | Jagged Scissors |
| モノクロストーン | Mono Stone | Monochrome Stone | Monochrome Stone |
| BGM罪と罰 | BGM:Crime&Pun | BGM:Crime&Punish | Crime and Punishment |
The DigiLab news articles that list these items were updated too. The new 16-character names were checked in the game's item lists.
What already matched
Differences kept on purpose
The HOT,8 mistake has also been added to the "Claude made mistakes too" table in the full report below.

ChatGPT's work was a first draft of the 141 mail/news files, built on a partly guessed character map: 88 lines had the wrong Japanese, and the ~2,600 strings inside the program files had not been found. Claude had to read the font pixel by pixel, retranslate everything and build the text engine and the patch, checking every screen in an emulator.
1. What ChatGPT had delivered
ChatGPT had delivered an audit and a draft, not a usable translation, and said so itself ("NOT a full verified game translation or reinsertion-ready patch", font_pixels_verified: false). The "98.99%" quoted in an earlier delivery referred only to the mail files.
| Item | ChatGPT delivery | Verified state |
|---|---|---|
| Mail, news, web pages (.ME) | 2,188 records (control codes included), 1,972 lines of first-draft English | 141 files, retranslated message by message |
| Character map | 631 glyphs, some of them "contextual hypotheses", never checked against the font | font read from the disc (FONT.CHR) and checked glyph by glyph |
| Lines with wrong Japanese | not detected | 88 lines, 30 misidentified glyphs |
| Unresolved codes | 7 records flagged (20 in the flags file) | all resolved by reading the font |
| Text in the program files (.BIN) | 403 "candidates", 20 with English, 0 verified on screen | 2,612 strings in 12 modules, 2,581 reinserted |
| Opening story | not addressed | translated, with its own font |
| Graphics with Japanese text | not addressed | about 30 groups of images relettered |
| Text engine and patch | none | half-width engine + verified BPS |
| In-game testing | none | every application tested in an emulator |
2. Misread Japanese
The game does not use Shift-JIS but its own font, so every code has to be matched against the drawing of its character. ChatGPT had assigned many kanji "by meaning", inferring them from context, and on 88 lines it read a different character (30 wrong glyphs). These are the most insidious errors: the rebuilt Japanese looks plausible, so the English reads well too, but it says something else.
| File | ChatGPT read | Actual text | ChatGPT's English | Correct meaning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M_NAKA05 | 無理なことですね | 素敵なことですね | That would be impossible | What a wonderful thing |
| F_NAKA0C | キョウ(男の子です) | キョウ(女の子です) | I'm a boy | She is a girl |
| M_NAKA55 | いちばん左のアイコン | いちばん右のアイコン | Click the icon on the far left | The icon on the far right: it is the game's very first mail, and it would have sent the player to the wrong icon |
| M_NAKA12 | 私が結婚する直は | 私が移住する国は | When I get married and move away | The country I'm moving to |
| M_NAKA15 | 直接電話 | 国際電話 | Call you directly | An international phone call |
| M_NAKA11 | 親の仕事で | 父の転勤で | Because of my parent's work | Because my father is being transferred |
| M_NAKA34 | 第9回「ゲーム出版」 | 第9弾「ゲーム雑誌」 | Reviewing the game publishers | Part nine: game magazines |
| M_NAKA34 | 製本はしっかり | 基本はしっかり | The binding is sturdy | The basics are solid |
| M_NAKA52 | 不要とか必要とか | 偶然とか必然とか | Unnecessary or necessary | Chance or fate |
| M_NAKA52 | 僕の功績や | 僕の苦労や | My achievements | My hardships |
| F_NAKA13 | 戦っていく | 去っていく | And keep fighting | Is leaving |
| M_NAKA0E | 重要で少しびっくり | 突然で少しびっくり | Was important | It was so sudden |
| F_NAKA07 | 最高の進化 | 最終の進化 | The greatest evolution | The final evolution |
The most frequent swaps: 版→誌 (8 times), 接→際 and 直→国 (4 each), 要→然 (3), plus ◎→○ and 左→右. All 88 lines were re-read against the font and retranslated.
3. Symbols and codes left unresolved
The codes ChatGPT could not read were exactly those in addresses, numbers and passwords: the clues the player has to copy into the Search app. On top of that, it had read the star ★ as a middle dot ・ in 43 places.
| Code | ChatGPT | Actual character | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|---|
| (43 times) | ・ middle dot | ★ star | lists and the phone number 「TEL ★46@ー4☆○9」 |
| 0383 | unresolved | . period | Net address 「HOT.8」 (Block B-6) |
| 00B4 | unresolved | / slash | Net address 「SEA/20」 (Block C-6) |
| 00C2 | unresolved, later an "editorial bullet" | ☆ white star | list 「☆パルモンとピッコロモン」 and the phone number |
| 014A | unresolved | 系 | 「極地系」 (polar type), 「虫系」 (insect type) |
| 01E8 | translated "by meaning" | 競 | 「競そうだよ!」 (let's race!) |
| 01E5 | unresolved | 流 | 「情報を流してんだから」 (I'm passing you information) |
| 00B1, 00AF | unresolved | _ and ° | emoticon 「(。_°)」 |
| ◎ | ◎ | ○ | phone number |
All of them were resolved by looking at the glyph drawing in the game's font, not at the context.
4. Text never found
Most of the game's text was not in the mail files: menus, descriptions, dialogs and messages live inside the program files. ChatGPT had searched them with a byte scanner that finds "candidate" fragments, but without following the pointers in the code it could not know where a sentence starts and ends, or whether it ever appears on screen.
| Module | Actual strings | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| DESK.BIN | 1,312 | desktop, status windows, food, care, items, the Digimon's lines |
| SHOP.BIN | 383 | shop, item names and descriptions |
| MAP.BIN | 284 | Search app, places and finds |
| MAIL.BIN | 253 | mail and Net apps, forum, replies |
| BATTLE.BIN | 142 | Virtual Colosseum, battle commentary |
| CARD.BIN | 141 | evolution cards and Digimon descriptions |
| TRAINING.BIN | 73 | training minigames |
| 5 other modules | 24 | settings, title, boot |
Total: 2,612 strings (1,214 distinct texts), against ChatGPT's 403 fragments and 20 translated lines. Also left out were the opening story (OPNING.BIN, which has its own font) and every graphic with Japanese text: boot sequence, desktop labels, shop, battles, cards, Net pages, the 14 pages of the Help manual, the ending screen and the opening images.
5. Translation and adaptation issues
Even where the Japanese was right, ChatGPT's English was not ready for the game: it was translated line by line and ignored the width of the windows.
What ChatGPT got right, and what was kept:
6. How Claude fixed it
There was only one rule: every claim checked on the disc or in the emulator, never inferred from context.
7. Claude made mistakes too
To be fair: Claude made errors as well, but caught them because every change was tested in the game in an emulator, something ChatGPT could not do.
| Claude's mistake | How it showed | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| VDP2 video registers read with one field out of place | screen captures rebuilt wrong | offset fixed, captures redone |
| Intro sentences too long for the scene's timing | text cut off halfway through a scene | faster typing, strings moved to resident memory |
| First mail: too many unique graphic tiles | shared tiles damaged elsewhere on screen | whole screen re-encoded |
| Desktop labels fixed in one file only | still Japanese in game: the game used a copy inside TITLE.BIN | every copy updated (38 sprites) |
| Keyboard: one glyph per key | letters of the name corrupted the symbols row | blank keys use no glyph, at most 64 letters per page |
| Shop: text size picked sprite by sprite | "Food" large and "Medicine" tiny; "Which item?" did not fit | one size for all four, phrase rewritten as "What to Buy?" |
| Help: Next/Back buttons not detected | still Japanese on some pages | detection fixed, all 14 pages redone |
Still open, and listed in the README: the title logo (kept as the original), the two kanji icons on the shop toolbar and a few lines that still read literal.
8. Bottom line
ChatGPT was useful as an inventory and a checklist, not as a source for the text: working without the font, the code or an emulator, it produced plausible but wrong readings that its fluent English hid. The difference was not translation "talent" but systematic verification on the disc and in the game.

I'm looking to buy one off Amazon, since that would be easiest for me personally. I know you can just download the game onto the sd card, but I'm not tech savvy at all. Hoping to just place the cart in my Saturn and find the English version of Burning Rangers and Batman Forever since they are so expensive normally. All the help is really appreciated!! thanks!
