So which prospect does everyone want next year?

Only point guards. We have plenty of awesome forwards and all of our current guards are natural shooting guards, we’re good there. We just need someone who can handle the keys to the muscle car that the Storm have created in the last two years and run the offense and it’ll be off to the races.

Please no, to Hidalgo. We need to stop bringing anti queer folx to our city.

And I don’t need another pr rehabilitation push like the Torrent have done with Abbey Murphy

This part. This is where Sonia has a lot of say since she was teammates with her at ND. Not sure which side Sonia is on, but she would know HH very well.

In this order Watkins, Williams, Nichols, although I could be sold on Nichols before Williams

The storm needs a shooter

Agreed, I agree that we need a PG. But the Storm desperately need a consistent 3pt threat (besides Awa).

Do we really think Juju is going to declare? I feel like she might take the extra year.

I think it depends how close they get in the tourney this year. If it feels just out of reach, she'd be more likely to run it back than a first/second round exit or winning.

JuJu or Mylasia. I'm terminally GO IRISH but Hidalgo gives me big ol' queer hives.

Juju or Booker. I know everyone is going to yell to get a 1 but I think Booker is the second best prospect in the draft. She’s such a fluid scorer/shooter and is a good secondary facilitator. With her and Flau’Jae theres enough handle to offset not having a true 1 in the meantime. I like hidalgo and I think she’s legit awesome but im not sure if her defense actually translates once the players get taller and smarter plus the shot is questionable and we already have no spacing while we wait for Awa to develop as a shooter

I'd love JuJu, but I think Hidalgo would be a really amazing addition to our roster. She's fast, she can facilitate, and we certainly don't need height.

I mean Juju like a top 3 prospect all time (Parker, Clark, her). If we get 1 somehow no question who we take.
Hidalgo is an interesting case. One of the most elite perimeter defender prospect in the history of the league. Very quick. Fast too, but her quickness is S-tier. Streaky shooter and undersized, though she is still able to finish in the paint, downhill and physical. Reminds me a bit of Allen Iverson offensive and is like NBA JAM John Stockton on defense. Her pick and roll game still needs work. Her 3 point shooting needs work. Worst case I see her being an above average career starter until she loses her quickness. Doesn't necessarily need to take over from Heideman year 1 to have a big impact. Natisha is a better 3 point shooter. But Hidalgo would be brought in when we need defense or could act as a microwave off the bench. Heidemen transitioning into eventual bench player I think works fine too.
Madison Booker is going to bust IMO. Fine college player, I think she is most effective as a playmaker around the foul line and I don't think she has physical tools to do that in the WNBA like she did in college.
S'Mya and Mikaylah don't particularly excite me. I don't think either would be a bad pick but I don't see them as rookies being improvements of Heideman in 2027 and even by like 2030 I wouldn't be sure on. I think both have a good chance peaking higher than her, but we can't wait for them to be 28 years old.
Fulwiley I think will have a fine career but too much overlap with Flau'Jae and Flau isn't a complete enough of a player to do try to copy her.
Talaysia Cooper I find really interesting prospects. Cooper is a ballsy 3 point shooter not the most accurate shooter but confident and takes and makes hard shots and she has grown so much in this regard during college. She's listed a SG but she's got real playmaking instincts. Like taking the unique angle for a clean pass to an easy bucket that most players don't see. She's not a pure PG by anymeans but both her and Flau as combo guards I think could really compliment each other. Taking her at 4 seems like a reach but I wouldn't be too upset.
Not listed there but Tessa Johnson is another that will be eligible to either enter the draft or stay, but also really interested in her. She's the best catch and shoot with space player that will be eligible and a decent playmaker with full court vision. What she is elite is the most transferable skill from college to pros, if she can get open in the pros, she will be very efficient. She doesn't take many hard shots though. I doubt she gets the same volume in the W, though. I don't think she's an elite off-ball mover, though she does know to move in space, but I think its more that South Carolina is stacked. So I don't think she will be getting 6 wide open shots a game.
I don't like her as a first round pick but we are #1 in the 2nd round. If she somehow drops down to us in the 2nd I love her as a roll player. Instantly creates space on the court. Decent enough team defender with good size, not great 1 on 1 by anymeans. But has good general awareness.
Deeper down I like Timea Gardiner. I think she's another possible 2nd round pick. Offensively she would play a similar roll to Tessa but is a defensive plus. It doesn't so much show up in the stat sheets but shes a dog on defense. High motor, tall, long. Classic 3 and D wing that didn't produce much in college offensively. Im guessing she goes late in teh first for a team needing that roll player. Like Indiana I think would be a good fit for her. She's like 4th or 5th option on offensive but still makes an impact because of spacing threat.
Kymora Johnson looks like an option in teh 2nd round if we don't take a PG in teh first.
Roll players I am watching include Khamil Pierre, Nunu Agara, Chloe Kitts, Sayvia Sellers, Addy Brown, Sahara Williams, Avery Howell, Grace Slaughter. All of them are like specialist role players who I think have a good chance of carving out a niche in the WNBA if they manage to land on a final roster.
If we don't get pick 1 or 2 I wouldn't be too saddened by trading back for picks. IMO after pick 2 there is a big drop in talent but it is a very very deep class.

What are the chances of Seattle getting a top 7 draft pick with making playoffs last year as I know it’s a combined 2 years?

u/Hypergur1 20d ago
According to Tankathon, the Storm have the 4th pick based on their combined winning percentage over the last 2 years. They have a 10.5% chance of getting the #1 pick in the lottery.

Ahhh thank you. I tried to google it but apparently I didn’t do a great job hahah

100%. We rank 4th worst 2 year average, so worst pick we can get is 6th. In the statistically unlikely scenario 2 of the 3 teams below us drawing the 1 and 2 spots, we’d fall to the 6th pick (idk the exact odds on it but it’s low)

u/haleymae95 20d ago
Dark horse and probably not worth a 4th pick, but I'd like to see if Kymora Johnson has another good year. Last year she showed she can play up to big moments, but I wanna see if that stays consistent.

If Connecticut/Houston gets the first pick a year after leaving Connecticut, the fix is in. Nothing will happen, but the league should be investigated for tampering.
