Am I crazy for not feeling confident, especially after a short week?
162
u/RaptorsCdwoods 15h ago
Until we fix the turnovers its hard for me to feel confident. Our defense is great but have been put in bad positions so many times this year.
31
u/CancelThis2077 15h ago
And the Bronco's D is no slouch, well in theory, based on last year.
30
u/Pohaku1991 15h ago
We might’ve caught a lucky break this week, they’ve got some pretty key pieces on their D unlikely to play
6
u/FallenRiptide 15h ago
This. Playing against a tight man coverage team, with a solid pass rush? We still have little run game. Offense is gonna have to be spot on. We had a huge issue with getting guys open against San Fran. I'm not a doomer, but offense really needs to step up this game.
11
2
u/resetallthethings 13h ago
they are bottom 10 in the league when playing man, and that's with their two best DBs
15
u/runawaynoob 15h ago
I know a QB that has 0 turnovers that played for the seahawks this season who is healthy
11

4
u/SheAddlesHeHocks 13h ago
You mean the guy who the coaches know better than any of us and have decided not to start? Is that the same guy?
4
u/runawaynoob 13h ago
Drew looked confident in the pocket and got the ball out quick, Sam is not and is actively losing games for the Hawks.
18
u/shrimpynut 15h ago
Our offense really took the joy out of this team as soon as Sam came back lol, defense is just a bunch of ballers doing their thing humming along while our offense outside of JSN shows no sign of a pulse 🤷🏽♂️
13
u/fremenist 15h ago
It isn’t Sam vs Drew.
We haven’t had a shred of a run game since Price went to IR. Price had ball security troubles too, but without him we have no credible threat to run. This hampers offensive line play and play action. It allows defenses to better cover JSN, Coop, Shaheed and lets the d line tee off on the pass rush.
14
u/rdrouyn 15h ago edited 14h ago
The way I see it, if we can't beat Denver, we aren't a serious SB contender. They are not a good offense. This is the type of game they should win if they want to be that team. I don't expect too many turnovers. I think Holani will not get carries and Wilson will be given the ball for most of the game. Aside from Warner making a Warner play, he didn't turn the ball over so I don't expect the turnovers to continue at the same rate.
4
u/CollieCat 14h ago
This. Bo Nix with a bad run game and a defense missing Surtain and Hufanga. If Darnold can't take advantage of that it's time for some serious conversations on the QB position.

u/Early_Emergency3440 15h ago
The short week and it was a brutal game against the 9ers. This is gonna be tough game for sure.
7
u/Silent-Ad-2415 15h ago
And we're the road team, going to the high altitude
5
u/Grymninja 14h ago
Yeah but we lost last week and they won. I think our team is gonna want it more. They will absolutely refuse to go 3-3. That's my hope at least. Sometimes in sports it really is just shit like that
7
u/SputnikSauce 15h ago
If my life has taught me anything, you should never be confident until quad zeros.
1
u/ImamBaksh 12h ago
We just saw it in Brazil... 7 seconds to a field goal in the modern NFL. No lead is safe.

I just think all the RB fumbles aren’t super repeatable at scale. It’s not gonna happen 3x per game every game. And I think we win every game that we don’t lose the turnover battle by -2
4
u/UTmastuh 15h ago
Some interesting stats:
In 2025 Sam Darnold led the NFL in turnovers at 20. K9 and Charbs each had 0 fumbles all season. Holani was the only RB to fumble last season in his limited play time.
In 2026 Sam Darnold is once again on pace to lead the NFL in turnovers at 5 picks in 3 games. On top of that the RB's have fumbled 6 times and showed zero signs of actually protecting the football on their carries so there were no improvements in trying to stop that from continuing.
The Seahawks have the most turnovers in the NFL this year so saying it can't/won't happen again is crazy thinking.
3
u/3elieveIt HawkStar '23-'24 15h ago
Here’s the case for optimism
Mike is not going to let RBs play who keep fumbling. He brought in 2 more backs last week for this reason. It’s unacceptable and there’s new focus there to prevent it.
Sam fixed his turnover issues in the playoffs last year, 0 INTs the whole run. So he has that in him and can find it again.
2
u/MrX121212 14h ago
Who is going to play RB then given every option they have has fumbled I believe multiple times this season now?
3
u/3elieveIt HawkStar '23-'24 14h ago
I think Holani will be benched
Wilson only has 1 so he will get another shot
Maybe Velus Jones and Robert Henry take some snaps
Maybe Shaheed gets used more from the backfield
1
1
u/awesome_aaron 13h ago
If #1 was true, after the ghost of Christmas past peanut punched the ball out of his hands, Holani wouldn’t have had the ball fumbling and bumbling in his own endzone
1
u/3elieveIt HawkStar '23-'24 13h ago
Mike said we were short on runners for that game. We have more available now
2
u/CancelThis2077 15h ago
What about the Darnold picks?
4
u/3elieveIt HawkStar '23-'24 15h ago
Even if he throws 2, I think we can create a turnover on defense and still win the game. I think likely situation is 0 or 1 INTs, no fumbles, and we win a low scoring game
Now that I’ve said that, watch it be a 43-37 shootout

u/juniorvarsity33 14h ago
I don’t feel confident in the least. I was telling my buddy Sunday am that the next 4 days have the potential to go really south, and not because we will play poorly. Then Sunday happened.
1
u/Beer_Goggles1 11h ago
Don't look at the Seahawks all time record against the broncos in Denver
1
u/resetallthethings 9h ago
I mean sure it looks bad, but when there's only a handful of games since 2000 I don't really see why one would relate that at all to his year.
2018 was the last time we played there and it was a close loss, but we are a completely different team
1
u/AbstractIceSculpture 7h ago
I don't feel confident at all. The turnovers are a huge problem, and it's a problem in our passing game and our run game. First two games compared to the last three feel like night and day in terms of how we controlled the ball.
1
u/Blametheorangejuice 15h ago
Short week, physical game, Holani, flying into Denver...I got blasted for saying this, but, looking at the schedule, going into the bye at .500 feels like a distinct possibility.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Lunar_Neo 15h ago
There is no reason to feel confident we will win. It's probably a coin flip. Denver has their own issues but they are a good team.
2
u/resetallthethings 15h ago
I disagree
the only reason to NOT feel confident is because of expecting horrible turnovers again. So that's perfectly understandable to feel that way, truth is we are much better in ever facet of the game apart from that.
1
u/neongem 15h ago edited 15h ago
Nope. I had this game circled as a loss in my predictions. Short week in Denver after physical division game. I’m shocked we’re so heavily favored. I guess they think we bounce back after a tough loss?
4
u/resetallthethings 15h ago
they don't have their 2 best secondary players and have been absolute cheeks on offense while being much worse defensively than last year even while healthy
We should be favored. TOs are the great equalizer so I get everyone being nervous based around the past 3 weeks. But we are clearly a much better team than them

I think as long as they aren't direct TD turnovers we can probably get away with 2 and still gap them.
Broncos are not good
1
u/RabbiVolesBassSolo 12h ago
I’ve been saying the same thing. Couple of turnovers we can overcome because our D and special teams have been forcing turnovers as well, but the opponent has had defensive scores in both games we lost.

u/resetallthethings 12h ago
their D is decidedly mid AF this year and their O is solidly bottom 10
1
u/missbeekery 10h ago
It may be mid compared to last year, but our playcalling seems to pretty predictable to competent coaching staff. I’ll be overjoyed to be wrong, though!

This is crazy optimism. Broncos should be favored, ngl.
1
u/resetallthethings 15h ago
that would be crazy doomerism TBH
they suck and are missing their two best DBs
we only lose if we spot them 14+ off turnovers (which I get seems fairly likely given our recent play)
-1
u/QuasiContract 15h ago
WTF, that is crazy. Broncos should be favored. Hawks playing like trash on offense, traveling on the short week to face a great defense?
4
u/CharmingWheel328 "I'm just here so I won't get fined" 15h ago
That defense is missing its best corners so the secondary is in a bad situation, especially against JSN. Plus, Bo Nix has been playing awful and Macdonald's defenses perform best against young QBs like him.
2
1
u/Raknorak 13h ago
Nix isn't playing bad. Apparently
“Playing good and playing bad, it’s a narrative, and I think it’s honestly kind of something we make up,” Nix said after Tuesday’s practice, via Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette. “I don’t think necessarily I’m playing any different than what I’m normally playing.”
Real fucking quote BTW

face a great defense?
haven't watched them this year huh?
they are mid on D, missing their two best DBs, and their O has been even more tragic than last year by far
2
u/Scrutinizer 15h ago
Throw in the altitude and it tilts more their way. This is going to be a very tough game.
2
u/ImperialTiger3 14h ago
Bo has been horrible this year. Just checking it down and not throwing at in in the middle of the field
2
u/n-some 14h ago
Bo Nix has been a check down merchant this whole season. Our defense doesn't give up easy check down yardage, so they'll stall out a lot on offense.
1
u/Tracexn 13h ago
I’d argue we get killed on check downs more than anyone . Purdy killed us with checking down
2
u/resetallthethings 12h ago
huh?
not at all, Purdy killed us with 50/50 balls to Evans

There are maybe 3 fanbases in the league that think they have a good offenses. Yeah, our EPA is bad and the turnovers have lost us games, and we’re not where we want to be on the eye test. But there are plenty of teams who would prefer our offense.
Broncos have their own issues and their subreddit Is probably hating on Nix💀.
They’re a really good team and I suspect it’s an even matchup, but there’s nothing crazy about being favored
1
u/resetallthethings 9h ago
They’re a really good team
outside of a SoS argument making them look way worse than they are, that's not what the stats or eye test says this year
they are surprisingly bottom 10 on both offense AND defense in most metrics
