Feedback on an 8-page dark comedy / sci-fi short: The Bar of Emotions

A bar serves shots of pure emotion. A numb patron meets a stranger.

Would appreciate a cold read of this draft, especially your reaction to the characters and ending. No background needed; just curious how it reads to fresh eyes. Thanks for taking a look.

Non-linear timeline in act 2 — dramatic irony or just confusing?

My feature shuffles a chunk of act 2 out of order. The reader knows things the lead doesn't, and I did it on purpose cause I think the irony is worth more than perfect clarity. Got pushback that some readers will just be lost. But I'm fine with that. Curious where other people draw the line in this situation. Thanks!

映画に関係する仕事の中で、どんな役割が自分に合いそうですか?

I'm currently thinking about my future education and career in film, and I'm trying to figure out which role might suit me. Basically, I'm more interested in building and shaping stories than in performing or acting.

Screenwriter was the first job that came to mind, but from what I understand, when it comes to how much control someone has over the story, it seems like the director has more influence. After doing some research, I'm wondering whether a showrunner for TV series might actually be a better fit. I'd also like to know how the two roles compare

The Last Relic - feature - 112

Title The Last Relic

Format feature

Page Length 112

Genre Action/adventure + sci fi

Logline An atheist Navy medic grieving the loss of her fiancé is recruited into an order of female relic guardians and must choose between resurrecting her lost love or prevent their greatest foe from using the most powerful artifact from igniting the apocalypse.

(I've never really liked any logline I've generated for this - very open to rewrites)

Comps I describe this as street level Avengers mixed with the Da Vinci Code meet Indiana Jones in a Stargate. It's silly mad fun with a costumed team.

Feedback Firstly i'd like to know how people respond to it. I'm fully aware that it plays with formatting "rules" sometimes. Like to know you have fun on the ride? Anything sticking/bumping? Most interested how it works as a sample...

And on that note, what do you more seasoned industry members think I should do with it? Contests or festivals this would fit? Some particular places I should submit it? This the sort of writing an up-and-coming agent, manager or producer you know is looking for? Other out of the box suggestions>?

Looking for honest feedback on my short film screenplay - would love to hear your interpretation of the story

Hey everyone!

I've written a short-film screenplay and would appreciate it if some of you could give it a read and share your thoughts.

Screenplay: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kh7aKsDAAi1IE1lWi5nwhC-VubXPiPO9/view?usp=drivesdk

The story follows two friends, Deven and Sohini, who discuss what they're looking for in an ideal partner. Through flashbacks involving their friends Ranjan and Rika, we see moments from their lives that add another layer to the conversation.

The story explores the ambiguity of relationships, how people interpret the same interactions differently, and the things that sometimes remain unsaid between people.

I'm particularly interested in how the story comes across to someone reading it for the first time, without any additional context from me.

Here are a few things I'd love to hear your thoughts on:

  1. Your interpretation: What do you think the story is really about? What did you take away from it?

  2. Deven and Sohini: How did you interpret their relationship? Did their interactions feel natural, ambiguous, or something else?

  3. The characters: Did their behaviour and motivations make sense to you? Were any characters underdeveloped or difficult to understand?

  4. The flashbacks: Did they add meaning to the present-day conversation, or did anything feel repetitive or unnecessary?

  5. The ending: What did you make of the final moments? Did they land emotionally, and did the ending feel earned?

  6. The dialogue: Does the conversation feel like something real people would have? The screenplay uses a mix of Hindi and English, so I'd also appreciate feedback on how naturally the dialogue reads.

  7. As a short film: Does the story feel cinematic and engaging, or does it rely too heavily on dialogue? Are there scenes you'd cut, expand, or rewrite?

You don't have to answer every question. Even a general reaction, a particular scene that stayed with you, or something that didn't work for you would be useful.

I'm open to criticism, including criticism of the core story itself. Please be honest rather than nice for the sake of being nice. I'd rather understand what's not working than receive feedback that doesn't help me improve.

One thing I'd especially appreciate is hearing what you think the story is saying without me explaining my intentions first. I'm curious about what comes through on the page and what different readers take away from it.

Thanks for reading!

HELP TO MAKE A SCRIPT

I’m a fluent English speaker but I joined for a basic English class just for credits . Now I have a presentation with a basic English speaker. The problem is, we need to make a script ,2-3 min long and present in class. BUT professor said we’ll get marks only if we make it funny and entertaining . The thing is, I can make script but my partner’s English is below basic. The topic can be any random. Anythingggg but the ending and the script should be funny .

Preparing for future scripts

So I am a young writer, I have ideas for films but I don't know how to write a script yet so for now I write those ideas into novels or drama. When it's time for me to adapt them into films, which technique will be more easier and faster novels or drama?

I'm writing my first short film, and I want to have a scene where my main character is walking but mostly stays in the same place but the background changes every 2-5 seconds.

Something like Everything Everywhere All at Once, when the multi-verse jumping occurs. So the character stays remotely always in the same place but the background changes.. How can I write that? Do I have to do. some thing like this ...

She is walking to her destination

EXT. -MORNING -STREET

EXT. -CONTINUOUS - BRIDGE

EXT. -CONTINUOUS -PARK

Horror

“When a gambling addict relapses on the night of a record jackpot, the experimental recovery program she just joined punishes the only person she cares about.”

Feedback: everything from concept to formatting. I’m curious on how clear the concept is and if the inciting incident falls to late into the script. I also am not confident in my dialogue at this early stage in my writing career. I am a young filmmaker who’s directed a handful of shorts looking to grow as a writer and appreciate any and all feedback you may have!

Thank you in advance — I appreciate your thoughts greatly!

Looking for a co-screenwriter to develop a script together.

Hey screenwriters!

I am looking for a passionate fellow screenwriter to develop a script together and enter the first look project competition together. I have plenty of ideas myself, but I am open to discuss your ideas, in order to create something together.

A little about me: I am 19F, I have written two books on mental health in Greek and a TV Pilot script in English. I love writing, dancing, watching series and traveling. I have 3 mental health disorders, OCD, BPD and Bipolar disorder type 2. The reason I am sharing this with you is the fact that I am really good at making characters with mental health problems and I would like our project to have such characters, or focus on mental health.
