Discussion Scream VI

This movie had the perfect setup to be an origin story for Sam becoming Ghostface. The way her anger was growing from being mistreated due to everything surrounding her. I wish that the franchise would eventually go the route of one of the main characters becoming Ghostface. Thoughts?

Discussion Does anyone else feel like the original Scream trilogy goes by really fast compared to the later sequels?

Whenever I rewatch the original Scream trilogy, I always feel like Sidney's story goes by way too quickly. It feels like we're just getting to know her character before we're already at the finale in Scream 3.

Scream (1996) introduces us to Sidney and everything she goes through in Woodsboro. Scream 2 is our first chance to see how she's dealing with the aftermath and trying to move on with her life, but then Scream 3 is the conclusion of her story.

I always felt like one sequel wasn't enough to explore Sidney's character after the first movie. It doesn't help that Scream 2 and Scream 3 seem to spend more time developing Gale and Dewey's relationship while much of Sidney's personal development happens offscreen.

I would've preferred at least one more sequel before Scream 3, especially since we go from Sidney attending college to suddenly living in isolation.

If Scream 4-7 didn't exist and the franchise had actually ended with Scream 3, I think I'd feel like we barely got to know Sidney before her story was already over.

Does anyone else feel like Sidney's original story ended just as we were getting to know her?

So far liking it a lot. What is your favorite movie in the franchise? I had the costume mask that had a heart you could squeeze to make blood run down the face. That is the only thing I know about Scream.

Discussion How would you feel about Scream 8 starting fresh with an entirely new cast and storyline, leaving behind the legacy characters while honoring the past? Could it be executed properly?

Genuine bonus question for the Sidney and Gale fans... why do you think the franchise shouldn't move on from them?

Past Spoilers Do you have any controversial theories on "who killed who" as Ghostface in Scream (1996)? Spoiler

Do you have any controversial "who killed who" theories for Scream (1996)?

My kill count for the original Scream changes with almost every rewatch because I always end up coming up with different theories about which Ghostface killed who.

I used to think Billy killed Tatum, but now I honestly think Principal Himbry was Billy's only Ghostface kill in the movie.

What changed my mind was the look Billy gave Stu when he finally arrived at the party. I always interpreted that as Billy basically telling Stu "it's done" after killing Himbry and staging his body to lure everyone away from the party not because Tatum was killed.

I also don't count Maureen Prescott as one of Billy's Ghostface kills because we don't even know if he was wearing the costume when he killed her. Plus I'm only counting the murders that happen during the actual movie.

My current kill count for the original:

Stu: Steve, Casey, Tatum, Kenny

Billy: Principal Himbry

I'm curious if anyone else has a controversial kill count for the original movie, especially since Billy and Stu's kills are still debated almost 30 years later.

Discussion 2026 EU mask are pretty good

They got the classic vanilla scent and it's a better smell than the 30 th anniversary mask. They look great and the vinyl feels good on your face. Way better than the ultra white mask and only 10$.

Lol I still think the ghostface mask would be the worst mask ever to kill people with tho. You can barely see anything with it on. And I heard for the movie mask they often use double fabric inside the eyes so no one can see inside the mask. Those poor stunt men.

Question Mandela Effect?

So basically I remember a clip from either Scream 5 or 6 back in YouTube shorts years ago. The clip had the two girls standing while news reporters swarmed them asking questions. The girls thought it was over, but then Ghostface walked behind the reporters and looked at the girls. It was before AI was as good as it is now, so there’s no way it was fake. I just didn’t see it in any of the movies when I watched them recently. Is this the Mandela Effect?

Past Spoilers Ghostface was at their most sadistic in Scream 4 imo Spoiler

Post image

IMO, Scream 4 has some of the most sadistic and brutal Ghostface kills in the entire franchise.

Just look at what Charlie did to Olivia. He tore her apart and left her guts hanging out. I don't think any of the previous Ghostface killers went that far with their victims. IMO, outside of Casey and Steve's murders in the original, I don't think any of the kills in the first three movies really matched that same level of sadism and cruelty.

Even the phone calls feel nastier in this one. Ghostface/Charlie seems to genuinely enjoy terrifying and torturing his victims before killing them.

My personal headcanon is that the reason Charlie is so much more sadistic than the previous Ghostface killers is because he grew up watching movies like Saw and Hostel not just Stab. Billy and Stu were influenced by the slashers of the 70s and 80s while Charlie grew up during the 2000s when torture porn was huge and horror movies were becoming increasingly graphic and violent. Considering how obsessed Charlie is with horror movies, I wouldn't be surprised if those movies influenced how he carried out his own murders.

Obviously the later movies have their share of brutal kills too but something about Ghostface in Scream 4 just feels particularly nasty to me. It feels like Charlie actually enjoys the violence itself.

Question Hi there! I'm putting together my Crimson Ghost Face costume and swapped out the cheap included mask for the nicer 30th anniversary version. I'd love to add some blood effects to it, but I need something washable so I don't ruin the mask once Halloween ends. Any tips or product suggestions?

Question why did the ghostface in scream 6’s bodega scene look for Sam and Tara really slowly?

Post image

I feel like it would’ve been a lot more effective if he just speed walked everywhere looking down the isles as fast as he could but instead he slowly walks a bit, seems like he’s trying to not make noise as if he’s hiding, which he might be doing idk but that would be a whole lot less effective if he cleared the store as fast as he could

Discussion Which of these writers understood Scream the best outside of Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven?

Of Ehren Kruger, James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, who do you think understood the Scream franchise the best besides its creators Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven?

All three have received criticism from fans for their contributions to the series, particularly when it comes to writing Ghostface killers who pull off things that seem physically impossible.

For example, Scream 3 feels like it was clearly filmed with two killers in mind, Roman and Angelina, but the finished movie reveals Roman as the sole killer.

The biggest example is the chase scene on the Stab 3 set. Sidney punches Ghostface to the floor and throws bowls at him before escaping onto the porch. Somehow, Ghostface manages to recover, get back up and appear behind Sidney almost immediately to recreate Stu chasing her out of her house in the original Scream. There's barely enough time for one person to pull that off. The scene makes much more sense if Roman and Angelina were both involved.

Then there's Scream (2022), where we're supposed to believe Amber, a teenage girl who probably weighs around 100 pounds, managed to overpower and kill Dewey, a grown man with years of experience surviving Ghostface attacks. I know Dewey was caught off guard, but the physicality of that scene still feels ridiculous.

I still enjoy the franchise for what it is, and I'm not expecting every single detail to be completely realistic. But sometimes it's hard to suspend disbelief when Ghostface pulls off something that seems almost impossible once you know who's actually under the mask. It's one thing when you don't know the killer's identity, but when you rewatch the movies knowing who's responsible, certain scenes become harder to believe.

I understand that Scream has never been completely realistic, but there's a difference between suspending disbelief and writing scenes that don't make sense once the killers are revealed.

For me, part of what made Williamson and Craven's movies work was that you could go back and reconsider the attacks after learning who the killers were at least in the first two movies. The mystery was supposed to fit together.

So between Kruger, Vanderbilt and Busick, who do you think came closest to understanding what made Scream work? Not just the meta humor and references to horror movies, but the mystery, characters, Ghostface's motives and the actual logistics of the murders?
