Cunversatzione Stay in Olbia in October or at the Cala Cuncheddi hotel twenty minutes away?

My wife and I will be in Olbia later this month and are booked at Cala Cuncheddi but are thinking of switching to a location in town. We like walking around old towns and being able to walk to dinner. Cala Cuncheddi looks beautiful but we are not interested in the beach or just hanging out at the hotel. What do folks recommend?

Foto New to Sardinia

Hi everyone, I've recently moved to Cagliari and launched a small creative & social studio. I'd love to introduce myself and connect with local business owners and creatives on the island. Would a short introduction mentioning my work be welcome here, or would that count as self-promotion? Thanks so much!

Pregonta I am looking for 2 sailing yachts for 2027

Hi everyone,

we’re a group of around 20 planning a trip to northern Sardinia in summer 2027 and would like to rent two boats, each with a capacity of 12 people with a Skipper. Does anyone know a reliable boat rental company in the north (e.g. around Olbia, La Maddalena, Palau or Santa Teresa Gallura) that offers this?

I'd love to hear any tips!

Thanks :)

Pregonta La Maddalena for six days with young tweens

In a couple days, we will be arriving in La Maddalena for a six-day stay with our two 9-year-old boys (I realize we're out of season). I'd love any advice on what people would say not to miss, especially given our group makeup. We enjoy beautiful beaches, and our boys enjoy playing and climbing and swimming. We did ebikes recently in the Dolomites, and they loved that.

Open to any and all suggestions!

Pregonta Alghero to Capa Caccio question

Hello fellow Sardinians,

Me and my girlfriend want to travel to Capa Caccio on 8th October from Alghero

Forgot my driving licence at home, so we cant rent a car

Today we are taking boat tour to the neptune cave, but unfortunately got told it is not possible to take a later boat back to alghero

(our plan was to walk up the 600 staris and see the view and scenery after we visit the cave, and take a later boat back but it is not possible)

We checked linea 5 achedule, it says only 1 bus during the WHOLE DAY leaving at 9:15 from alghero to Capa Caccio and coming back around 12:00

Is this bus scheudle info correct? Do you have any othet tips to visit capa caccio by other means of transport? Or any other programms for tomorrow ?

Also, what would you recommend to check today/tomorrow mainly beaches or some hike ?

We visited marina pia beach already, loved it, any otber beaches or secluded spots worth without a car? We are fine walking couple of kilometeres. Like Spiaggia di Cavalcavia?

Thank you very much my friend :)

Cunversatzione What’s the deal with tailgating in Sardinia?

it seems like every driver here tries to stay as close to the car in front of them as possible. it doesn’t matter if you’re going 30 kph over the speed limit the driver behind you will be right there. i understand getting close if you’re about to pass but it seems like almost the entire time drivers are doing this.

Pregonta Afternoon boat tours to Cala goritize?

Since I don’t have much time on the island, would like to do a Orosei coastline boat tour on my first day. I land only at 9am, so by the time I get to Cala gonone it will be most likely 12pm. Will it be possible to do a tour? Or do all leave in the morning?

Cunversatzione Shit everywhere...

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people?

Roadsides covered in trash, forests full of bottles and cans, beautiful beaches turned into garbage dumps. And what really drives me insane are the people who go camping because they “love being in nature” and then leave bags of rubbish behind at the place where they stayed.

How exactly does that work in your head? You go somewhere because it’s beautiful, wild and clean, enjoy it for a few days, and then before you leave you think: “You know what this place is missing? My shit.”

And the toilet paper. Fuck me, the toilet paper.
How hard can it be to shit in a hole, cover it up, and put the used toilet paper in a bag to dispose of later? Instead, there are gorgeous places with what looks like entire fields of toilet paper scattered everywhere.

What kind of species are you, you feral outdoor shitters, who seem to lose 80% of your intelligence the moment there’s no flushing toilet around?

You don’t need to be some hardcore environmentalist. You don’t need to know a thousand rules. There’s one very simple rule: if you carried it in, you can carry it back out.

Nature is not your toilet, and it is not your garbage dump.

Cunversatzione Best beach to visit ?

I am in Sardinia for only a few days, staying in the north of the island close to Palau. We only have roughly 1 day to visit a beach, I am spoilt for choice and not sure which one to choose. Any help?

Cunversatzione My mom has hiked all her life, but never outside Central Europe. Where should I take her in Sardinia

Hi everyone! I’m 32, from Slovakia, and I’m planning a trip to Sardinia with my mother in the second half of October. We’ll fly into Alghero, rent a car and have around 4–6 days to explore.

My mother has been hiking all her life and is a strong hiker, but she’s never hiked outside Central Europe. I’d love to make this a special trip for her, so I thought I’d ask people who know Sardinia where they would go.

We’d love a mix of memorable hikes, beautiful scenery, interesting towns and good food. We’re both comfortable with hikes of around 20 km and up to 1,500 m of elevation gain. We don’t mind moving around and staying in different places, though we’d prefer not to spend half the trip driving.

Which parts of Sardinia would you choose for a trip like this? I’d also love tips on where to stay and any restaurants you personally like. Thanks!

Cunversatzione Recommendations for 5 days in Olbia and where to stay in October

Hi everyone, next week I am planning to go for 5 days to Sardinia and there are direct flights from where I am to Olbia. Now, I read that there are some sketchy areas in Olbia, which frightens me, since I am going with my pregnant fiancee. Any advise on where to stay, where to go and what to do?

Cunversatzione Cagliari - 6 days visit summary

I would like to summarize some parts from my trip to Cagliari that ends tomorrow, mostly In favor of future tourists to come. Bare In mind that I don't speak Italian, and I believe some issues that may look ridiculous to Italian might actually pose a problem to foreigners, as happened to me. So here goes:

Buses - I chose Cagliari since I don't hold a driver's license and I got the impression it was the best spot in Sardinia for people like me. On the second day in town I got a 53 Euros fine at the CTM bus. This happened 30 minutes after I bought a weekly CTM bus ticket, but I haven't figured out how to validate it. I've shown the inspectors the date and the hour on my ticket, but they couldn't care less and fined me. I still didn't understand how to validate the ticket. The day afterwards I went to the tourist information center and there was a nice lady over there that explained it to me, said that CTM inspectors act this way a lot with tourists, and suggested I'll file a complaint (which I did). The day afterwards I rented a bicycle and it made my life a lot easier - buses inside cagliari tend to arrive late and be rather slow. So learn to validate your bus ticket, and rent a bike.

Poetto and Calamosca - I know there's an impression that the first part of Poetto is more commercialized and the far part is more secluded. Actually throughout all Poetto there are bars and restaurants that rent a beach chair for 20-25 Euros for a day, no part is actually secluded in the original sense. But it's true that at the beginning it's more aggressive. Calamosca is a small sweet spot right before Poetto with clear water and the beach isn't full of beach chairs owned by restaurants - I highly recommend going there (not in the weekend).

I admit that after the CTM incident I got a bit depressed (I was also alone all these days) and got a feeling that taking a bus to other beaches isn't worth it because the buses will be slow and the beaches full of restaurants and umbrellas. I'll be happy to be proved wrong.

Molentargius Park - I took the minibus tour that takes you to the protected areas where you see flamingos nesting - honestly I think it was the best part of my trip, entering the protected areas and then seeing them up close through the telescope. It was surreal and I highly recommend that

Boat tours - I was wondering at the beginning what's the problem going with an inflatable boat. Well. I booked a boat tour on a dinghy, unfortunately half an hour through the tour I really had to pee and didn't manage to pee in the water. I knew there were 2.5 tour hours ahead of me. I told the skipper who was quite cold and said a few times there's nothing to do. After a while I asked again and he told me he can let me off at the dock of Poetto but then the tour will end for me and I have to take my stuff and go. I agreed and so happened (I later confronted the operator but mostly about the skipper's attitude).

So that's why you might want to go on a boat that has a toilet.

Besides that the tour goes in 3-4 places very close to Cagliari and stops in each for 20-30 minutes and people can go swimming or snorkeling. The water is clear but all you see is sand and small grey fish.

Being vegan, gluten free and trying to eat healthy in Cagliari - I know, I know.

Palazzo Regio - I didn't see that coming but that's an awesome well preserved palace, which was renovated in the 18th century mostly. It's quite impressive and the entrance costs only 3 Euros!

Overall I feel like being only in Cagliari alone for 6 days as a vegan GF person without a driver's license that doesn't speak Italian was not my best idea ever, but it had its cute moments and I hope other visitors will have a better time than me.

Pregonta November Suggestions

Hello, I'm traveling to Sardinia in November. We are hiking the Santa Barbara Mining trail for 2 weeks and have a 3rd week to travel around. With travel this only ends up being about 5 full days. I'm open to 1-2 locations with some travel in a rental car.

I'm primarily intrigued by the Supramonte region and nearby coast, but I'm a little overwhelmed with picking a basecamp. Baunei might work for access to both the beaches and mountains, but looks very quiet.

Alternatively, we could stay in the Cagliari area and check out the islands and beaches nearby. Looks like there's pretty good hiking and beaches on San Pietro Island which could be fun.

We like to walk/hike (obviously), are big on being outside, love the beach but know it will be too chilly for swimming. We can fly back to Rome from either Cagliari or Olbia.

Does anyone have suggestions particularly for November.

Cunversatzione Traditional food

Hello,

hope this belongs here and sorry for the foodie post but i could not really find anything from my search in this regard.

I want to explore sardinias cuisine during my stay, i arrived 5 days ago and somehow expected to stumble into different local food places during activities or on the way but there is more pizza than i would have imagined for sardinia 😅

I had Sadeas already (the combo sounds strange but tastes absolutely fantastic), found Fregula (but didn't try yet) and wonder what else to try. I could not find Porceddu, what i want to try definately, but i have not been to an aggriturismo yet. Do they typically have that there or do i need to check that out in advance for specific places? Also, are there tylical vegetarian sardi dishes for my girlfriend?

We started our trip in castelsardo, checked out a few places along capo testa and then continued on the south east, pretty much skipped the area around San Teodoro as it was so crowded. Now we are near Bari Sardi which is great again. Did not decide yet whether to go further south, into the inner land or to the west, our planned climbing spots were near Cala Gonone but our plans already changed quite a bit so it doesn't matter 😅

Thanks!

Cunversatzione One month stay in Sardinia with an infant

Hi everyone!

We’re planning to spend about a month in Sardinia in May 2027 with our baby, who’ll be around 9–10 months old.

We’ll probably move around and stay about a week in each place. I’m pretty comfortable finding apartments myself, but I’m struggling more with finding good family-friendly resorts.

For the resort part of the trip, the whole point is to make life as easy and comfortable as possible with a baby. We’d love somewhere where we can simply relax and not have to cook unless we feel like it — ideally with breakfast available, a good restaurant or two for lunch and dinner, a pool, nice outdoor areas and preferably easy access to the beach.

Apartment-style resorts or bungalows would be perfect, especially if they still have proper hotel/resort services.

We’ll have a rental car, so it doesn’t need to be in the middle of a town. We’re mainly looking at northern/eastern Sardinia, roughly within 1.5 hours of Olbia airport.

Any resorts you’ve stayed at and genuinely liked?

Bonus question: are there any towns or areas you’d especially recommend with a baby — somewhere good for stroller walks, easy lunches/dinners, beaches and a relaxed atmosphere?

Thanks!

EDIT: Budget is around 150-200 euros / night.

Pregonta First time travel ❤️ 🇮🇹

Ciao! (:

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Sardinia at the beginning of October. We’ll arrive by ferry in Porto Torres and leave from Olbia. We’ll have a rental car and 6 full days to explore this gorgeous island.

At the moment, we’ve only booked our first night in Alghero, so we’re pretty flexible with the rest of the trip.

We’re planning to do a few-hour trail hike at some point, take a dolphin-watching tour (probably on the last day, somewhere closer to Olbia), and have a relaxing day at Cala Goloritzé. Other than that, we’ll probably just go with the flow.

We’re big nature lovers and not that much into history, although we’re always happy to see or do something interesting along the way.

We’d be really grateful for any hidden gems, local recommendations, agriturismi stays, scenic spots, hikes, beaches, or other suggestions for the northern part of Sardinia.

Saluti dalla Lettonia!
Grazie!

Pregonta 3 nights in San Teodoro

My husband and I will be staying in San Teodoro October 2-5 so only have 2 full days to explore. We will have a rental car. I’m feeling overwhelmed by the possibilities and wanting to do everything in a short amount of time. Definitely want to do a boat tour of either La Magdalena or Gulf of Orsei. Want to do an Agriturismo. See some of the beaches, maybe a hike. We are very active.

What should we prioritize and any other recommendations I’m not thinking of? Thanks!
