I want secrets

I feel like I’ve read enough of these to know what I should eat and drink when I’m in town for a few days, but what should I do if I wanna go into some cool old stores look at records see some history read a book somewhere? I don’t live there now, but I’m originally from the Bay Area and I’ve spent an OK amount of time in San Francisco and surrounding area but I wanna try something new especially since my wife has really never spent any time there.

Art/ tech/ storytelling club out of Gray Area

Is it a secret if I'm the host, trying to share it with you? Maybe.. maybe because it's not very well known, but it is a bit well loved by those that keep coming back. We love it because it's in the incubator space at Gray Area, the upstairs room above the theater. Every other Sunday we are meeting with a different type of VR film. Something indie, often international. These vignettes or curious occurrences where indie art was funded and now, the tech dejected, we can activate the space and share a bit of tea over something from other reality. Or is it? This is a gathering that is finding it's people. One day we'd like the wonder of these stories to reach folks who could benefit most. But who knows -- maybe that's you?

Sharing the link to the next gathering:

Hope this counts as a secret. And hope my writing about it makes sense.

this POV: indie VR art is best shared over a conversation. What's the point of art technology if it isn't somehow a catalyst for connection (in person please -- no need to hide from the friction)

Richard Moves Camp at Alcatraz sunrise ceremony: “As we fade off into the old spiritual world, we know now that 50 years from now the great grandchildren will still be here. The fire will still be here. That is the prayer that was made by the ancestors.”

Where can you watch the Blue Angels for free this weekend? Here are 20 public spots!

Every Fleet Week I always feel like my friends and I have the same question: where do I go if I don't have a paid seat or a private rooftop party to attend? I work at a mapping company lol so I put the city’s own park data on a map and drew a rough box over the show stretch, Marina Green and Aquatic Park out toward Alcatraz.

I asked: "Where's the best places to watch the Blue Angels?"

Here are all the spots near the water to recommend to friends:

  • Fort Mason
  • Aquatic Park (beach and promenade)
  • Marina Green / Yacht Harbor (public parts only)
  • Francisco Park
  • Waterfront Park by Pier 39
  • Presidio Tunnel Tops (the Bay-facing overlooks)
  • Alice Marble overlook
  • Crissy Field
  • Jack Early Park (tiny and I heard fills up fast)
  • Chestnut & Kearny open space
  • Ina Coolbrith Park
  • Pioneer Park on Telegraph Hill (outside, not the paid Coit deck)
  • Pier 29 public shore
  • Lafayette Park
  • Alta Plaza Park

Here are the spots that are higher ground but a few miles out:

  • Buena Vista Park
  • Corona Heights
  • Tank Hill
  • Twin Peaks
  • Grand View Park

Anyone else have any semi-secret but public spots?
