I'm 12. Two of my friends got seriously hurt on e-bikes. A kid in Lake Forest died.
So I started a petition asking for basic safety rules. Age 16 minimum. Speedometers. A licensing test. Parent accountability.
We got 1,387 signatures. Five city councils backing us. Assemblywoman Davies aware and moving on state legislation.
But we need more people to sign so supervisors know this matters.
Here's what we're pushing for:
- Age 16 minimum for e-bikes with throttle/high speed
- Mandatory speedometers (so riders can monitor speed)
- E-bike licensing (safety test like driver's ed)
- Parent liability for violations ($160 fines)
- Youth Bike Safety Fund (fines fund bike lanes + education)
This isn't anti-e-bike. It's pro-safety.
