Casual I made a quiz that tries to describe your taste in food (Everyone)

Hello, this is my first Reddit post and the first quiz I've ever made so pls be kind lol. I made this little flavour profile quiz because I’ve always found it weirdly difficult to describe my own tastes and eating habits.

It will give you a profile on things like flavour, texture, richness, heat, familiarity, etc. It’s definitely not perfect, especially if you have really specific or unusual tastes, but I thought it might be fun to see what other people get. It also matches you with cuisines and dishes you may like (factoring veganism/dietry requirements too)

https://your-flavour-profile-6e9oi6xg8-flavours.vercel.app

Curious whether anyone feels like their result actually sounds like them?

EDIT: Thank you so much to everyone who has tried it and taken the time to give me feedback. I'm reading through the comments and taking note of what's working well and the inconsistencies/suggestions. It's incredibly useful data, and I will post the new version once I have made these changes.

me and my friend often exclaim "EVERYBODY has heard of this!" and "i could ask a group of kids if they have and they'd all put their hands up!"

so, have you heard of these or are we super delusional? ("heard of" meaning you can give a general/vague description of it)

Casual Hand washing habits (Everyone!)

Hello everyone!

https://forms.gle/MFET6Deorimu3PcZ8

This survey will take around 5 minutes to complete.

It will be anonymous and the responses won’t be published. I was curious about how other people wash their hands since I was told I wash my hands too frequently and that I “need to put my hands on some dirt”.

I appreciate anyone who answers the survey! :)

One of my high school students created a fun ethics placement quiz. I think it's really cool that he did this just for fun, but he also has a really advanced understanding of the material. If you have the time, please give it a shot. I will also share any critique or feerdback with him if you want to leave a comment for him to see.

Casual Am I overestimating my own attractiveness? (Anyone)

A friend and I were at a bar recently when we got onto the topic of attraction. Specifically, we discussed the gap between how attractive we think we are and how others would actually rate us.

We decided the only honest way to find out if we had bloated egos was to ask strangers to rate us. Some field studies in the bar revealed that one of us indeed overestimated his looks, while the other suffered from low self-esteem (or just modesty). We got curious whether this gap is universal, or whether most people have a pretty accurate read on themselves.

We discussed how to answer this question and landed on creating a research experiment. Because we're nerds, we bought some pizzas and spent the following night building a website for the purpose. It allows strangers to rate each other's looks (you rate, you get rated) with the goal of collecting enough responses to fill out this cool chart.

So, friends on Reddit... do you want to quantify the gap in your self-perception? I'll send you an email with the results. Nothing will be posted publicly, except statistics once we have a decent sample size. If you're down, check it out here (there's also a stats page with cool graphics you can drool over):

Casual [Casual] What do you call this? (All native English speakers)

Survey link

Inspired by u/survey161724's ice pop survey I wanted to see how some other words for things vary from person to person (but this time with country & region data).

There are 33 questions in total, which if that's too long for you there's the option to skip the second half when you're halfway through.

Results are visible once you complete the survey (or here if you lose the link) but I will be posting the full results with breakdown by country and region to r/SampleSize in several days' time.

Edit: to anyone awaiting results, I am working on it. The results are quite time consuming to process however, sorting through and breaking it down into two dozen countries and regions for each of the 33 questions. It's a lot. So please do be patient. They will come eventually (and I'm happy to notify anyone who's interested when they do).

Casual [casual] How hard would these 12 situations hit a family? Rate them 0 to 10, then see what my scale says (everyone)

I built a scale that scores how hard any event hits a family, from 0 (not a hardship at all) to 10 (losing your entire family). It's tuned to my own gut, and now I want to know if it matches yours.

The survey is 12 situations, about 2 minutes, anonymous. Just go with your gut.

Survey (1 Min)

When you submit, you'll see the scale's score for every situation and a link to the full scale, so you can run any situation of your own through it.

Some of the scores surprised me. One of these situations scores worse than a parent dying suddenly. Curious if you'd agree.

If you think one of the scores is way off, or there's a situation you think the scale would get wrong, drop it in the comments and I'll score it. I'll post the overall results here once enough people respond.

Don't want to take the survey? Read the full scale and try it yourself here: Full Scale + Prompt. (If you do want to take it, take the survey first so the scores don't bias you.)

Casual Male post-urination hygiene habits (Men 18+)

Hey, I’m doing a short anonymous survey about what guys actually do after peeing, especially around the final drop and using toilet paper.
It takes about 1–2 minutes. I’m looking for honest responses, including if you think the whole issue is a non-problem or toilet paper already works perfectly fine.

Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeLJNRCXnQPx8NKaFyHYVt9N8qDqt0guc4jEhEDDy3k92bgyA/viewform?usp=header

Men 18+ please. No names or identifying information are collected.

Thanks. I’d really appreciate it if I could get some responses please thank you.

Edit: This is my first time using Reddit and didn't expect much but managed to get 60 responders. Thank you very much for taking my survey and thank you to the guy who suggested surveyswap.io in "other"

Edit 2: Some people are leaving feedback in "other" such as "this idea is tremendously stupid" etc. Ngl all feedback is welcome please feel free to leave whatever, I have added an additional comments

Casual [Curiosity] How do you use your toilet paper after a BM? (18-110 years old)

I know that everyone is different... surprisingly this has come up in conversation more times than I would expect so I figured a survey was in order to satisfy the question once and for all and allow me to get on with other things.

This question is for users of toilet paper / bog roll only (if you use a bidet, congratulations, you are better than everyone else... but you already know that and will not stop telling us as much) When you finish your BM do you stand to wipe or remain seated to wipe? Also do you fold you paper or bunch-ball your paper?

Click the the link to answer this 1 multiple choice question, nothing else, no demographics just 1 question.

Casual A color memory test — my hypothesis is that humans remember impressions, not actual colors. 204 responses so far, sharing full data at 1000 (data on color memory)

Thumbnail colorecall.com
41 Upvotes

My hypothesis: humans don't actually remember specific colors. We store impressions — warm, cool, dark, saturated — and the exact hue fades almost immediately. Under any time pressure, the brain fills in gaps with what it expects, not what was really there. Same goes for shapes.

I built colorecall.com to test it (added some gamification mechanisms to keep the users engaged to take more actions on this test). You look at colors and shapes, then try to recreate them.

At 204 responses right now. To get more quality data, maybe around 1000 I'll post the full results back here — accuracy rates, what trips people up most, and whether the hypothesis holds.

If you are interested click here: https://colorecall.com

Curious what your score is.

This is a casual survey aimed to see what LGBTQ+ terms are most and least commonly known amongst the people who take this survey. Anyone is welcome to take it, even if you are not LGBTQ+ or have little prior knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community. This survey should take around 6-12 minutes. All the questions are multiple choice.

Take the survey here!

Thank you!

Edit: Here’s a full list of all the terms in the survey but please do not look until you have completed it

Casual [Casual] My therapist has suggested I create a survey about Small Talk to understand myself. (3 mins, open to all)

Hi all

I won't go into details but this week in therapy we were discussing small talk. My therapist suggested I do a survey as a way to understand how I think compared to others.

The survey is only 8 questions requiring very short answers. And should take less than 3 minutes to complete. I'll post the results too if you're interested.

Casual [Casual] How good are humans at True Randomness? (All)

Try to clear your head a little for this one. Do not use any outside influences. The goal is for these answers to comply with what the question states. For example, the coin flip question should show 50% for both answers when I collect the results

https://forms.gle/kiBVSSibr3Mq4Xaf8

Edit: Huh! Didn't realise people were gonna be as interested in this as me :)

You don't need to use !remindMe if you don't want to. Simply comment on this post, and I'll be sure to reply to every single last comment when I publish the results! :)

Edit 2: Wow. Right. Okay. This is a lot of comments

I'll be replying to anyone who doesn't comment the !remindMe thing

I'm happy to respond to lots of comments, but I'm scared of triggering Reddit's spam detection haha

Edit 3: I woke up to 166 comments... When will it end?

Edit 4:

For anyone coming back and checking this: I've decided to put the results out when this post turns exactly 1 week old

I was originally going to publish the results last night. But looking at the comments, there are literally 100+ people with a 1 week reminder set

I'd rather those people get that notification as the results are still new, rather than them finding it late

EDIT 5

RESULTS ARE OUT!
