Dim led Blinkers
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I had recently installed the front led blinkers and they are very dim compared to the blinkers on the back. My brother who gave them to me said they were way brighter when he wired them directly to 12v power so it should work on the sv. Any help is appreciated
EDIT: Everyone is talking about the blinkers being too small and unsafe, i agree, but 2 of my old blinkers stopped working and these were already laying around. Dont worry i am replacing these soon.

Sv for a first bike
Hi Uk based rider here doing my a2 license at the end of the year and I’m looking at getting a 2007-2013 sv650s for my first road bike. I’ve got a lot of experience riding off road and am riding with a training school as I build up to my test on an MT03. I understand that “legally” I have to limit it to 47 brake but otherwise are there any reliability issues or things I should look out for on an early EFI SV or any issues in general? And to limit it would that be through the ECU or a throttle plate restriction?

Dominator exhaust
Hi guys, would you consider this dominator exhaust obnoxiously loud on the sv650? I really like how it looks on the bike but I’m worried that it’s going to be too loud

Reviews on the SV400?
I'm a Honda Loyal thinking on giving an SV400 a try. The one I'm looking at is in absolutely great condition, and it's a 2000 model.
Can the veterans give me a beginner friendly review?

Lost on my SV650S first gen
So I have this SV650S from 2000.
It's sitting at 74.000 km right now, and bought it this year. Been riding it for over 2000km, everything was fine and no problems whatsoever. My dad and I changed for fork oils, oil change and swapped the handlebars for a more sporty version.
Now we can't seem to get it running again. One day when taking it out it, I was leaving the driveway, turning the gas handle and nothing happened. It just kinda stalled, but by doing it a bit I could get it into second gear and then third, after that it would run okay. But sometimes it would just die out completely and then we weren't able to start it back up.
We have;
Checked fuses
Changed ignition coils
Changed spark plugs
Cleaned carburator
Changed battery
Checked all electrics are working (they are)
Even bought a new carburator to see if that worked, but it sadly doesnt
And now we are currently at a loss for ideas... everything works as far as we know, so why the hell wont it even start now? And when we do get it going once in a while, it just dies out shortly after.
I would apprectiate all kinds of ideas and maybe there is someone out there with similair issues who found a fix, I just wanna get my bike running again

ECU tune on a sv1k?
Anyone still do those and how much do they choose? I'm in northern Utah, and I plan on getting a new exhaust on mine when I figure out what I like the sound of. What are my options when it comes to that this day and age? I know a power Commander can mess with fuel, but can I also mess with timing with that? I have looked a little bit into local tuners but it seems it's mostly for newer bikes. I have yet to call and ask, I don't want to feel too foolish asking to tune a 20 year old bike.

how much better is a better bike?
I have a gen 3 SVX. its my first nice motorcycle and compared to the 100cc singles i used as a teenager, the SV is of course not even a comparable riding experience. ive put in 30,000km of my own on it over 2 years, mixed city commuting and sport touring.
with some instruction from racer friends, ive since gotten a lot more comfortable and faster on the SV over those 2 years. ive reached a point where i want better brakes, better suspension, and vaguely better handling. and of course just overall a NEW toy.
but there lies the problem: i also just like the SV. at its best, where the sun is hot, the road is clean and dry, my brakes and tires are warm, the chain is lubed and taut, and the engine is hot hot, i actually cant complain about it. but the vague promise of nicer components and the allure of a new toy is a regular bug in my head.
im employed but by no means able to throw away money. so some optimization with expenses is called for.
to those who have gone thru a lot of different and nicer bikes, how much nicer is nicer? talk me out (or in) of dumping more money on a premium middle weight. or should i just upgrade my suspension and call it a day and save the money. i care about the ride experience, not the head turning.

S/N TO SF CONVERSION
I cant find a definitive answer for this so im making a post
Im looking at buying an SV soon, i like the way the 2008-09 models look with the lower fairings but struggling to find one in decent condition, i know you can get a conversion kit to turn the N models into S models, but can you get a kit to get those bottom end fairing on models outside 08-09?
If anyone has done this before please lmk

K6 gsxr 600 or K6 sv650s for daily riding?
Hey guys looking to upgrade to a middle weight 600 after about 2 years of nearly daily riding a ninja 400. I’m torn between the super characteristic and fun L twin on the sv and honestly it think with some lower fairings looks a bit better than the gsxr, big fan of dual headlights. But an inline 4 just can’t be beat, I’ve ridden a gsxr 600 before really enjoyed it but still unsure. I do a lot of highway riding here in Florida and would still like to daily this bike but I don’t think I worry too much about ergonomics I have clip ons on my ninja so I’m quite to used the sport bike positioning by now. Also I plan on doing all of the maintenance and mods myself if that makes any difference. What do you guys think fun thumper L twin or fully adjustable more sport dedicated gsxr 6?

Pics After many hours and tubes of elbow grease, I have refurbished my exhaust.
I recently acquired an M4 header from a friend, but the exit was the wrong angle for my scorpion muffler, so I decided to polish my factory header to match the finish of the scorpion muffler. How did I do?

What is this curved metal thing?
Hi! I recently bought a used 2008 sv650s and was wondering what this curved bar thing is. If you can’t tell, I’m very new to motorcycles. I’ve tried looking the part up but can’t find anything. The one on the other side of the bike seems to have broken off when the last owner had the bike, probably from a drop.

Help: Mechanical 1999 SV 650s with n headlights ?
Hello everyone, I just bought a 1999 sv650s (first bike) with an aftermarket round single headlight and no speedometer. I was wondering if it was possible to buy an sv650n headlight and speedometer and mount it on the sv 650s ?

Pics My N to S gauge cluster mounting bracket
I recently swapped the front end on my Naked to an S front end for factory clipons as I prep for track duty. I designed this bracket with sendcutsend and had them cut and anodize the part for me. Turned out pretty nice. I had to modify the bracket slightly to clear the ignition cylinder, but for the first run I think it came out pretty good. I think eventually I will make a version 2 for an even cleaner look. If anyone is interested in getting one of these for their bike, feel free to PM me. Maybe sometime I'll design a CNC top clamp that incorporates the clipon locator pin holes and the gauge cluster mount portion, but that's a task for future me. What do Y'all think?

Got my new seat today 🥰🥰🥰
Really have to share my happiness today! 😁
My new custom seat arrived today! With the old one, I couldn't sit comfortably for more than an hour, so I decided to take it to an upholsterer who specializes in motorcycle seats.
During the great consultation back in June, we also discovered that the previous owner had DIY-installed a gel insert in the seat. 😂
After trying out the seat once we'd discussed the extra padding, I got to choose from various leather and fabric options. We also matched the thread color to make sure everything came together nicely.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to properly test the seat on the road until next year. But I'm already really happy with how it looks, and even just sitting on it feels great! 🥰🥰
I also took the opportunity today to install my ConStands center stand. I originally wanted a steering stem stand, but I just couldn't say no at that price! 😁😁

Help: Mechanical Clutch question:
I just had a quick question.
I did a handlebar swap and ended up cleaning the clutch barrel on my 2002 sv650.
According to google, im missing a few bearings? Can i just leave it, or should I fix this? How do I fix it?
It has been shifting mostly smoothly, i presume they were already missing the whole time... it only sometimes gets a bit stuck going into 2nd. But usually, it's all good.
On the bright side, the handlebar swap is done! 💪.
I put it all back together cause i wanna test the feel on that. But i can always come back for the barrel to fix later it's easy to access.
Also:
Not sure what to do about my mirrors now either. I think ill need to buy new inserst possibly? I still have the inserts from the last mirror i bought cause the barss already had some. But not the "weight" i dont think. 🤷♂️
Update (adding a comment i wrote here):
Dam... now you got me thinking lol...
Since i sprayed the basket to clean it first with carb cleaner before ballistol... hopefully that diddnt dissolve the grase under the other bearings....
U think i should check them all or just pull then all out and repack them all?

Help: Mechanical 2008 SV650sa cutting/bogging out around 8k rpm at WOT. Gradually gets worse until it can’t go past 6k rpm.
Basically title. Happened again today for the most severe time
I bought the bike with around 7550 mi. I did spark plugs on it before riding it (NGK CR8EIX). Bike is currently at about 8300 mi. Did not have this issue until about 200 mi ago.
The bike starts and runs fine under all (0-100%) throttle for about 20 miles/20-30 min. Then it starts bogging/cutting power, starting at about 8k rpm at 100% throttle, then gradually gets worse until it will bog at around 6k rpm at 30%-100% throttle. Had to limp it home about 15 miles like that.
I did pull over and check for a whooshing noise when the gas cap was opened once the bike began bogging. There was no noise and the bogging persisted after the test.
This has happened at least 2-3 times. The first couple times I thought I was low on gas and filled up, but the second time it happened even right after filling up.
I can leave it overnight and the cycle will repeat.
Fuel level does not seem to matter. Ran a half can of Seafoam through it between fill-ups, did not help. When I bought it, it came with an aftermarket Vortex gas cap that seeps gas out when bike is sitting with a full-ish tank. Planned to switch out for an OEM style gas cap.
According to the guy (2nd owner) I bought it from, the owner before him let the bike sit for a while. When the 2nd owner got the bike, he did a vinegar bath to the tank to help with the rust. There is still a little bit of surface rust on the inside of the tank. I have bought some Evapo-Rust with the intention of getting the remaining rust out of the tank once I put it up for the winter as maintenance.
I’m decently handy with cars, but I am new to motorcycles as this is my first bike. To me it seems like fuel delivery issue, but I am not quite sure where to start other than replacing the cap first and/or flat-out replacing the pump. Wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions before I call a shop for some diagnostic testing.
EDIT - SOLVED (I hope): Replaced the fuel cap, followed by the fuel pump.
HOLY GOD, was that filter STRUGGLING with the rust buildup in the metal housing. Needed a screwdriver and an ample amount of brake cleaner to get it back in decent shape. The bike had probably sat for at least a few years before the guy I bought it from had it.
Cleaned out the housing and rebuilt the pump with a Quantum kit. Initially, it didn’t want to work, but after tweaking some wiring on the sending unit, it fires right up. Took it for a spirited test ride and it seems to hold up. Might eventually re-rebuild the pump with a new sending unit just to be safe, but for now it’ll do. I’ll put some photos of the pump assembly in comments.

Danmoto XG-1 anyone? (Sound up!)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My ‘05 naked with the now discontinued Danmoto XG-1. Pretty much a 1 into 2 straight pipe. Been rocking this for almost 10 years. I admit it’s stupid loud, but oh can she ever sing.
