Hello folks, I am new here since yesterday I got a "new" Dupont L1 BS lighter, gold plated, from a guy around here for 70$. The lighter is in working condition althought has been neglected cosmetically. Is there a way to clean it up without removing all parts? I was thinking about soaking in water+vinegar then water+soap and then a good amount of WD40 and finally Silicon spray. I do have some polishing paste for jewels and a dremel which is pretty clean/lean in my opinion so i can do the polishing before the deep cleaning. The plating is good but not great, especially the corner i think are naked.

[i got also an idea about pvd coating but not on this one]
What do you think?

I’m currently looking to buy my first one. A local pawn shop sells both for around 150CHF each (180$).
Are they real and is that a fair price? They don’t have any fuel atm so I can’t check if they work. But the flint makes a noticeable spark.
He said if they don’t work I can return them because he’s not really knowledgeable in this regard. (He usually only sells precious metal and luxury watches)

I had a question regarding the year of launch for the Ligne 2.

I have always understood that in 1977 the ligne 2 was launched. Initially it had a different valve and a pinhole cover over the gas regulator (we could call this first generation) After one or two years it was replaced for the model we all know.

'the enthousiasm for Ligne 2, launched three years earlier, was such that S.T. Dupont decided to go one step further in the direction of this model. The ligne 2 PN was presented to the public in 1977.'

This sentence confuses me. Is this implying the first generation Ligne 2 was launched in 1974 and ran to 1977?

Absolutely new, but has a minor issue - when the flame volume is high, it begins to slowly leak gas, on low flame it works good. I think the rubber seal needs to be changed.
