Important /r/SJSU is looking for Moderators

It's no surprise that the /r/SJSU subreddit is looking pretty inactive on the moderator end, and in desperate need of cleaning out the spam messages and ongoing college life posts.

Moderating forums is a volunteer experience, but you will strive to create a strong and enjoyable local community!

Moderator Description

  • Checking the new and mod queues to approve valid posts caught by the spam filter and remove content that breaks the rules.

  • Answering questions and responding to feedback in moderator mail.

  • Being pragmatic, polite, and helpful.

You will be welcoming incoming SJSU students and helping them with their inquiries about campus life, applying to classes, finding housing resources, and overall just being a positive role model representative.

What we're looking for:

As of now, there is no set deadline when the application process will end, and responses will be done on a case-by-case basis. With that said, thank you for reading, and we wish the best!

Disclosure: I work on this (Bay Area organizer for Change.vote). It's free and nonpartisan: enter your address and it lays out every race on your San Jose ballot in plain English, including the local stuff nobody explains. It doesn't tell you who to vote for. Check it out!

Applying to SJSU! Filled out my supplemental application wrong and was denied transfer to SJSU how screwed am I?

So I somehow filled out my supplemental application wrong and it showed that I had 54 credits instead of 90 credits when in reality I have 90 credits. So as a result, I was denied admission to San Jose state based on my clerical error for credits. I emailed to ask for an appeal, but is there anyway to make the process go faster? Am I screwed? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Random Question

I had someone come up to me and explain how humans actually came from fish? Do you believe this as well or do you believe they came from some other type of mammal, God, or something else entirely? Any and all thoughts and knowledge is appreciated. I’m curious as to how different people view the world and why. Thanks.

Applying to SJSU! MSAI Spring 2027 Admissions

Hi everyone! I’m applying to SJSU’s MS in Artificial Intelligence program for Spring 2027. I believe I meet all the stated admission requirements, and my application is currently in Department Review.
How competitive is admission to the MSAI program? Does meeting all the minimum requirements give applicants a reasonable chance of acceptance? Would love to hear from current students or anyone who has gone through the admissions process!
Thanks!

Other Promote Two Fundraisers

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I’ve experienced two significant financial setbacks: losses from investing through Robinhood and money I lent to someone that has not been repaid.
I’ve decided not to return to trading because I don’t want to risk losing more money. Instead, I’m focusing on rebuilding my financial stability through my job, responsible budgeting, and other available options.
I’ve created two fundraisers for anyone who voluntarily wishes to support me during this process. I understand that not everyone will agree with fundraising for these circumstances, and I respect that.
Any contribution is appreciated, but there is absolutely no obligation to donate. Even sharing my fundraisers would mean a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Important Financial Aid + Tuition Fee Deferral Removed

Hey guys. I just visited the FASO and Bursar's office today and they said that Cal Grant A and EOP Grants are disbursing either tomorrow or on Tuesday (10/20) and they said I wouldn't be dropped from my classes until aid kicked in.

But, I checked MySJSU just now and I see that my Tuition Fee Deferral is gone (which was there literally yesterday), and now I'm kind of panicking. Has this happened to anyone else before? Did you have your classes dropped because of aid not kicking in on time?

Response to those seeking yearning for social interation

I hear you. Many are striving for the same thing. However I want say this, when interaction comes your way, embrace it. Do not be so quick to discount it. Remain cognisant of your own outward social interaction and appearance. When I am on campus and see a person and say hi or strike up casual conversation I often get shunned. I try not take it personally because I know my approach is harmless, however given it happens so frequently I think it is attributable to a lack of emotional intelligence on the other persons part. I met a women in a social group and she said people respond to her weird when she tries to be social. I responded to her that I knew where she was coming from. You know what she did? She behaved exactly like the people she was complaining about haha. The moral of this story is, be self aware of your own behaviors in-addition to those of your fellow humans.

Applying to SJSU! Student life

HI everyone,

I know this question probably comes up a lot, but I'd love to get an honest take on student life at SJSU-specifically regarding nightlife, social scene, and off-campus (activities).

I'm an exchange student from France (fluent in three languages) and love meeting new people, so socializing isn't an issue for me.

Since this is the only exchange semester of my degree, I want to make sure I pick a location where I can truly make the most of the experience.

How would you rate the overall social dynamic on and around campus?

MCS this month please 🙏🏼

I’m broke. I’m on my last $700 from last disbursement and I need my sparks plug replaced. 😭 thankfully my tags arent due until feb 2027 so I dont need to do smog yet (but thats also like $160 so I can cover that). but being a commuter sucks. please do not take going to class in-person for granted! I only go to campus for PE and miss going to lectures. it’s my last semester and holding onto that MCS, my final disbursement, before grad this december. I hope everyone is having a lovely semester so far and I hope you pass your midterms!

Your personal dating recruiter that does the swiping for you — looking for feedback from SJSU students

Hello beautiful people!

My small team and I recently built a free personal dating agent called Unsaid. This ideal came from year long frustration of finding a long term partner that truly meets where we are. Our life gets busy, swiping an small talking is exhaustive after a long day of work, and Hinge and Tinder haven’t really worked for us. So we started building something we’d want to use ourselves.

The idea is simple: you talk to your personal dating agent through text. It gets to know what matters to you, what makes you tick, and what makes you feel loved and excited about someone. From there, it looks for potential matches and reaches out on your behalf, bringing you a connection when there seems to be compatibility worth exploring.

There’s no new app to download or interface to figure out. Just text, like you would with your friend.

We’re opening our beta to a small group and would love to hear what you think. You can learn more and sign up here: https://tryunsaid.dev

We’re committed to keeping it free. For now, we’re starting small to keep computing and development costs manageable, but we hope to welcome more people soon.

If this isn’t your thing, that’s completely okay too. Honest feedback is welcome, and a little kindness is always appreciated. Thank you for taking a look!

Applying to SJSU! Transfer Student Spring 27’

Hey everyone! I just got accepted into SJSU for Spring 2027 as a Business/MIS major. I'm planning on moving from Los Angeles up to San Jose in January!

Just wanted to put myself out there and hopefully meet some new people before the semester starts! I love the gym, basketball, trying new food spots, going out, and honestly just down for whatever. Definitely looking to make some friends and enjoy my time at SJSU!

I'm also looking for off-campus housing, so if anyone's looking for a roommate or knows of any available rooms, lmk!

If you're transferring this spring or already go to SJSU, feel free to reach out! My IG is harjot.736
