The closest team to me geographically is the Rays, so I’m torn on this, but I really do like the idea of the Brewers going all the way. I wish they’d done it when Bob Uecker was still around, but I’ll take it being delayed a couple of WS. They’ve fought hard for it with a tight budget and they’re due, but the cool thing for me is everyone but the Dodgers is due and scrappy, so there’s plenty to like about the postseason from here out. It’s like three Davids versus Goliath.

I mean, would I have rather the Dodgers not make the postseason at all? Sure. But if they go down in the NLCS I’ll be happy.

If the Dodgers come back and win this series, it's on you.

It’s not a jinx, they did lose today! It’s not making any future predictions!

I'm aware, this loss just cured my depression for today

I hate Dodgers but I care about your well-being more, stranger. Have a nice day.

It will still be on you though. 😂

Dodger owners never getting another ring with this run, but paying for it for the next 20 years, that would cure my depression for life

I get all the animosity with this rivalry, but I’m on the boat where we should not tempt the gods with all this smack talk, and give them any good karma.

Yes, I am superstituous.

I'm not. Dodgers look like they're getting old. They have too many defensive liabilites in both infield and outfield. they played a sloppy game tonight. They also had the lead in both games and blew it both nights.

Shohei, their big hope, looks like his post-surgery shoulder is bothering him. He's been, let's just say, he hasn't been himself. Their two best pitchers, Skubal & Yamamoto couldn't stop the Brewers, either. In fact, Yamamoto looked as if he was fishing for the strikezone. he was pulled in the 3rd inning. Dodgers' bullpen blew it tonight, as well. They don't have a closer, which doesn't help them.

The Brewers look like they are locked, loaded and have the momentum. They hit, they run, they catch, they pitch, they do all the little things well. And they're up 2-0 in a best of 7. Sure, might not mean too much, and I know they go back to LA, but the Brewers beat the Dodger 3 out of 4 in August in LA. I don't think this team feels threatened by the beach balls. It might be their year.

You have to think eventually age and bloated contracts will kill the Dodgers, especially if a salary cap/floor is introduced

The only way they’re getting out of an old dude with negative war value they’re paying 30-40M is if a team needs something like that to hit the salary floor, and even then it would make the Dodgers have to give up assets of actual value to make that happen, furthering the spiral

They're one of the oldest teams at this point. If you consider their core position players (Freeman, Betts, Smith, Muncy, Ohtani), they're likely the oldest core in baseball. Two of the guys are in their late 30s, two are in their mid 30s, while Shohei at 32 is starting to show some wear & tear due to his shoulder surgery. Freeman, Muncy & Betts are not the players they once were.

Regardless of whether or not a salary cap or floor will be introduced in the upcoming CBA talks, it is irrelevant to this NLCS. If the Dodgers do pull out a win in game 3, obviously they'll keep their chances of winning the series alive, but this Brewers team has shown late innings fight & dare I say, magic.

I’m just a littlestituous, so I’ll mock them if it goes 3-0. I think we will all be safe by then

Hey! No trash talking until it’s over! It’s back to LA. You know these buttheads can turn it around in an instant!

The Brewers seem to be the team that has been turning it around. They've come back from behind in both games. Dodgers' bullpen is not lights out. Whereas, Brewers' backend has shut down the Dodgers lineup. Snell pitches next against Brewers' lefty Gasser tomorrow. I know very little about Gasser.

Doyers and Lambs lost. Today was a great day!

So nice to see that one dusted off and brought out for the occasion. 'Tis the season!

It's an older one but just change the year to 26

I'm not celebrating until they are eliminated, a strike happens, Dodgers are forced to no longer use deferred payments and TV deals, as well as a salary cap, salary floor to force that evil team to trade all their stars. Fuck them. Maximum punishment.

Rooting for Brewers and Rays but happy for Cleveland right now. As long as Dodgers lose, all good. Get to the lockout stuff, get it settled, so we can all focus on adding pitching and a new season.

Hopefully it continues 🙏🏼

Game 2 should put an end to the Yamamoto /Bumgarner comparisons

Let me get this straight, A giant fan is posting smack in October? I guess if thats all for you fellas got in October then go for it, have fun.. Tell you what, I'd much rather suffer back to back losses on Oct 12 and 13 and read these comments than being eliminated from playoff contention on July 13th. Enjoy

I don't get you guys at all. This is my 62nd season as a Dodgers fan (even though I've always lived much closer to SF), but I stopped hating the Giants when they got into the 1989 NLCS aganst the Cubs, for the sake of ny dad, who'd just turned 78. I wanted him to have a winner that late in his life. (He died four years later.)

Ever since, I just haven't understood the hate. If the Giants were in the playoffs, you can bet your ass I'd be pulling for them. I recently told an Uber driver who was a Giants fan I really hope they turn themselves around so we can get back the days when they fought each other for the pennant every season, down to the final game. That's what I grew up on, and I loved it.

No one wants to watch billionaires buy championships

1

u/NoCard753 1d ago

That's just an excuse to hate. Opposing fans don't seem to mind when billionaires buy players who don't win championships, such as the Mets' owners, who've spent more than we have the last couple of years..

I challenge you to find an owner or owners of an MLB club who weren't stupid rich in the last 50 years or more. You can buy players, but you can't buy championship ball clubs. Championships require more than money.

u/Evening_Dependent542 22 Clark 1d ago

In as much as I like baseball itself, I can never hate the Yankees and Dodgers, but I am a bit of a hater during the season.

I’d say mostly you’re seeing the very online aspect of the rivalry. I try to avoid other team subs after a loss for that reason but I get it

1

u/musicisalluneed 24 Mays 1d ago

Um, were you born under a rock? The rivalry is much more than an online thing. In fact, it goes back to the days when both teams were in NY and has carried over to the west coast since 1958. The teams used to go at it against each other when they played. The famous brawl in 1965 when Marichal swung a bat at Roseboro's head is exemplary of this rivalry as is the brawls that happened in the 2010s when Bumgarner & Puig or Hundley & Puig or faced off.

u/TheGoatPurdy Hungry Seagulls 1d ago

Why are you here then?

1

u/NoCard753 1d ago

Because it popped up on my feed. I didn't come here.

u/musicisalluneed 24 Mays 1d ago

Maybe you're a fairweather fan? You ever hear the story about when Tommy Lasorda found out his good friend Frank Sinatra was actually a Giants fan (Sinatra grew up rooting for the NY Giants baseball team as a kid)? Lasorda was livid. Lasorda embraced the rivalry as did many of the players such as Giants' Matt Williams in 1993: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HesDc1QYQkA

1

u/NoCard753 1d ago

I've despised the bigot Lasorda since the thing about hin and GlennBurke came out. And how could I be a "fairweather fan" when we had some pretty bad weather in the last 62 years?

1

u/musicisalluneed 24 Mays 1d ago

You do you

1

u/NoCard753 1d ago

I will, thank you.

1

u/AccomplishedMonth568 1d ago

You don’t get us at all? My guy, it’s a rivalry, you’re supposed to hate your rival. I understand wanting both teams to be good, it’s way more fun when the Giants and Dodgers are both competing. This is literally one of the oldest and most storied rivalries in sports, they literally moved across the country together to keep the rivalry going. 99% of Dodgers fans hate the Giants. 99% of Giants fans hate the Dodgers, like it or not, it’s how it should be.

1

u/NoCard753 1d ago

No, it isn't. I freely admit, though, I used to think that way when I was young and ignorant.

Hate is destructive. It ruins lives. Ask the people who've had the shit beaten out of them for wearing the "wrong" colors to a game.

-3

u/Round_Stranger_408 1d ago

Not the best look to try to bad mouth the team that whipped your ass up one side and down the other, finishing 35 games ahead of you, but I get that the rivalry brings out questionable decisions.

3

u/Evening_Dependent542 22 Clark 1d ago

Meh it’s what you do, some day (maybe) you guys will be in the same boat and you’ll understand. Could be 30 years from now but still
