Sometimes a co-worker will have a friend or neighbor who could help. If you or a friend have access to the local Nextdoor neighborhood you are interested in, you could post your search there.
I’m (26M) quitting my job and moving out of SF but there’s still 6 months left on my lease. Rent is $2,400 and the location is Russian Hill. There are utilities on top of rent, and it’s about $100-$120 per month. I also have a roommate (26M) who pays $2,000, so total rent for the 2 bed 1 bath is $4,400.
If interested please DM me, and we can hop on a call to discuss further details.
Hi, my roommate and I are looking to swap our 2B2B apartment in Rincon Hill for a studio or 1B1B in the Rincon Hill/Mission Bay area, ideally under $3,500/month.
We signed our lease before rents increased, so our current 2B2B base rent is under $4,800/month.
If anyone is interested in a potential lease swap, please DM me. Thanks!
- 2B2B, 1,200 sq ft
- $3,860/month total, so about $1,930 each (utilities not included)
- Move-in: Oct 15, 2026 (flexible)
- Lease ends: April 22, 2027
- 1 garage spot available, with plenty of street parking for a second car

hello! I am moving from emeryville and i am looking for a room or a roommate! Ideally female too but feel free to dm me if ever, I would be flexible. I need to move ideally ASAP if ever there is available!
Working in Construction tech!
Feel free to laugh at me but I’m looking for something under $4000 for me and my cat. She’s an ESA. I can do a studio but would prefer a 1 bed or ADU or in-law. Would like something near Caltrain but I can park my car if needed.
Commute is to Dogpatch.
Thank you for any leads. I’ve got some tours of complexes but would love any insider info.
- budget $4k-$6k a month
- have 2 cats
- would like to have a dishwasher and laundry on site
- work in healthcare tired of commuting an hour home over Dumbarton each day
- non smoker, spend all my time working
- I’ve tried looking at SU post, facebook, and craigslist but haven’t found many places that are ok with the cats. I’m not Stanford so can’t live in Stanford housing
Do I really have to hire someone to find a place to rent? If so how much does that usually cost?

Hoping to crowd source some ideas here: Is it worth it to ditch roommate life for a studio?
My situation:
Current place
- $2200/mo (13% income)
- Revolving door of Facebook roommates, some better than others
- 3B2B, and I have the attached bath
- Not rent controlled (rent raises 10% every year)
Studio
- The going rate for the places I’d want to live in are around $3800 (22% income)
- Goodbye roommate life! I feel like this would usher in a new era of creativity and self discovery I’m excited for
- Only looking at rent controlled places
- Nicer neighborhood and shorter commute
I was really excited about moving out on my own this year after giving up on the idea last year because I wanted more time to think about it and get promoted. However jokes on me bc the rent has kept up with my income!!
I’m I insane for paying $1600 more a month in today’s climate. Is there some big expense (a house??!!) I’m going to wish I saved my money for?
Overall I’m so grateful to be even able to make the decision (hard work pays off!) but feel torn. A lot of my life has been about saving! I don’t want to make a decision I’ll regret in the future, but at the same time am excited about living alone.
I am looking for someone to relet my RWC apartment ASAP, as I need to move out for some personal reasons. The apartment is 2750/month, around 650 sqft, on the third floor and very recently renovated. It comes with one covered and keyed garage spot, and is a 20 minute walk to the Redwood City Caltrain and 15 minutes to downtown. Move in is available ASAP, ideally around oct 16-19. If you do move in then, I am able to cover rent up until Nov 1 as well as your security deposit.
Hi everyone! My mom is looking to move from Chicago to SF to be closer to my brother, she doesn’t use Reddit so I figured I would make a post for her. She’s 63, her budget is around $1,500 but she’s flexible on that. She would prefer her roommate(s) to identify as female and around her age. She’s very sociable, kind, and understanding. She doesn’t smoke and rarely drinks. She loves to cook and stay active. She’s flexible on amenities and is fine with pets. Please DM me if you’re interested and I’ll send you her way!
Hi Everyone! I just moved here for work and am looking for my permanent apartment!
I am super friendly with all my neighbors so we can be respectful of each others' living spaces. I've never missed rent in 18 years in Los Angeles and I'm extremely neat and clean.
My primaries are being close to public transpo to Soma and parking for my car!
Not sure really what else to put on here... I like Conan Obrien, Foo Fighters, and shoot a lot of pool 😁
I love living alone and I’ve had bad roomate situations in the past so I’m scared to try this again but I feel it because I rushed into it. I met em on roomies .com and was roommates first and THEN tried to be friends with them….bad idea. I have 5 months until my lease is up so I wanna use this time to REALLY get to know someone. I’m 30 F 1 small dog and 1 cat. I’m a veterinary technician with a good stable job. 750+ credit. A car. Single. No kids. Looking for a girl roomate my age ish also single preferably (bf ok but he can’t come over all the time) that also loves living alone but wants to give this roomate thing another try so we can save money 🙃

📅 Flexible term: the lease runs through Feb 12, 2027, then continues month-to-month automatically, with 30 days’ notice to leave. This suits traveling nurses, new hires, grad students, or anyone between homes. You can also have longer term lease, Feb 12 2027 is the minimum time for the lease end.
📍 Springwood Apartments, Homestead Ct, Los Altos (2nd floor)
💵 Rent: $3,150/mo
🔑 Deposit: $1,500, paid directly to Springwood
💡 Utilities: gas is covered by the property. Water/sewer billed by occupancy, trash $27.50/mo, electric separate.
🐾 Pets: subject to Springwood’s approval, so please check with the leasing office.

🛒 2-minute walk to Trader Joe’s, minutes to Hwy 85/280
🤫 Quiet, well-run community with a responsive leasing team
📸 Photos attached, and you’re welcome to drive by first.

This one has a short initial term, an official lease with the property, and a location that’s hard to beat with quick access to 280 and 85 highway. The $1,000 bonus works out to roughly $250 off per month through Feb 12.
Serious inquiries only. You’ll need to pass Springwood’s application and credit check. Message me with your target move-in date!

Rent per month: $3,775 (one year lease)
2bd 2ba apartment right next to San Carlos downtown on Walnut St for rent starting Nov 1, 2026. Ideal for couples or families. Rent includes water and trash. Electricity and gas is the renter’s responsibility. Security deposit is equal to one month’s rent.
Commute and travel times: 7-10 walk to San Carlos Caltrain, 4 min walk to the library, 6 min walk to the San Carlos adult community center which has multiple classes and activities for all age groups. 4-6 min drive to Trader Joe, else 3 min walk to Bianchini - a local upscale grocery store.
1 large main bedroom and the second is slightly smaller with a sliding door entrance from the living room. Living room area is large enough to entertain 8-10 people. Also has an attached private balcony - with views of other rooftops, enough privacy to not use blinds.
main bedroom: 11ft * 14ft
walk in closet: 6ft * 7ft
smaller room: 9ft * 12 ft
sliding door cupboard: 2ft * 6ft
Neighbors are friendly and building management is responsive. Rent can be paid via either dropping off a check in a lockbox in the building or sending it directly to building management.
3 heating controls - in the living room, and in the 2 bedrooms which is good for energy efficiency. No central AC. The balcony is south - west facing, so the house only gets evening sun, and we haven’t felt the need to install an AC since the house doesn’t heat up throughout the day. We use tower fans in each room which has been enough for us.
1 car parking including in the attached garage downstairs. An additional car can be parked inside based on availability for a monthly fee (not sure what it is, but somewhere between $75-100/ month). There’s a storage unit at the garage level - which can fit 2 bikes easily, multiple storage racks, gardening supplies, or any extra materials.
There are 3 floors in the apartment. It’s a nice 16 unit community. 1st floor is garage and storage and the 2 floors above are residential. This unit is on the 3rd floor. There’s lift access. Each floor has a shared laundry and laundry coins are available in the building itself. $3.5 for a washer and dryer cycle. Building entrance is secure and delivery folks etc call you through the intercom to enter the building. Neighbors are helpful and bring packages left outside and we do the same for the community.
Only applicants with credit score 720+, and pretax income of 3x the monthly rent will be considered by our building management. Please reach out only if you meet these criteria.
Woman with small dog looking for one or two people to rent a place with in Oakland, ballpark $1,200-$1,400 per person. Additional small doggo welcome (my little dude doesn't do great with large dogs). I'm bringing and looking for all the usual good roomie stuff: secure full time job, responsible, considerate, friendly, open/kind comminication, etc. Looking to start the new tenancy in December (could do November for the right people/place). Lmk if you're interested!
I have $40000, no debt, am applying to jobs but my brother makes living at home horrible. I’m on anti anxiety meds. My brother never cleans anything including his own room, uses my bathroom and doesn’t do any cleaning, plays piano at home, it’s messy and cluttered because my dad doesn’t want to organize anything. I moved out asap during college and my mental health improved so much. I really need a clean space.
