Discussion Panzer Dragoon Orta
What were some of your thoughts on this game? I loved it as a kid though never got very far (in a short game I know). Still have it around somewhere and just saw it’s available on the Xbox Store! Excited to give it another go. Always hoping they’ll release another one someday, I missed those early Sega/Microsoft collaboration days. Seemed to just make so much sense. Anyway, what are some of your fond/not-so-fond memories of Panzer Dragoon Orta?

For graceful fury, there's no power greater than X.
Orta was the only game that made me want an Xbox instead of the GameCube that was chosen for that generation.

Actually played it for the first time on Series X last year and loved it. I will probably go back and do a Hard mode playthrough at some point.
At least as far as Normal goes, I didn't find the difficulty too bad. It mainly comes down to proper positioning and regularly cycling through your different Dragon forms to suit the situation. Using Glide Wing effectively made shooting down any incoming projectiles feel pretty effortless.
Even the final boss wasn't nearly as rough as I was expecting once I understood how to counter or avoid his most dangerous attacks.
I do like how you unlock the original game after clearing the main game. I will also give that a full playthrough at some point.

I really like the stages and switching between the dragons was an interesting mechanic But I find the bosses a bit repetitive and visually they’re all a little too similar to each other.

I replay it every 6 months. I bought a Series X just to play it. One of the rare instance of a perfect game. Masterpiece.

Amazing. Finished it on the hardest difficulty. Loads of additional content, beautiful graphics and sound. Played it again recently on my Xbox One and it still looks and plays great. Iva's story is also good. This was the game that made me mod my Xbox so I could import it.

It is probably one of the the best rail shooters. Sad that it wasn't a follow-up to Panzer Dragoon Saga, but it was gorgeous and fun for what it was.

Panzer Dragoon Orta still feels like such a stylish fever dream. The atmosphere and soundtrack did most of the heavy lifting for me, but the branching paths and dragon transformations kept it from feeling too repetitive. I also never made it very far as a kid, so replaying it later was a pleasant surprise.

Absolutely loved this game.
Also a ton of content on the disc.
