I didn't know what else to tag this as but today I started my SCP-056 and SCP-079 tattoo!! This is my personal rendition of the two of them made for me by my artist!

Figured it would be fun to take them on a trip. If do more I’ll have to be sure to bring them and my lab coat also so I can take more pics.

PREAMBLE:
This theory suddenly hit me while I was thinking about SCP-053 and SCP-682’s relationship (partly because of MR. ILLUSTRATED’s Daybreak canon). Once I thought about it, it started making way too much sense in my opinion and I felt the need to share it. I hope that was not a mistake.

THEORY: SCP-053 is the only human that partially resists the ENTITY from SCP-5000.

BACKGROUND:

SCP-053 is a young girl with multiple anomalous traits. First, any human being that makes direct eye contact with SCP-053, makes skin-to-skin contact with SCP-053, or is in SCP-053’s immediate vicinity for longer than 10 minutes will suddenly be overcome with the paranoid and violent desire to kill SCP-053. Second, any physical damage to SCP-053 will be regenerated rapidly. Third, after any harm is done to SCP-053, the attacker will suffer a sudden, fatal heart attack or seizure. Fourth, despite being of above average intelligence for her age and being able to communicate, SCP-053 completely ignores any attacks against it and does not respond to questioning about the anomaly.

Another strange thing about SCP-053 is its relationship with SCP-682, an anomalous, highly adaptive reptilian entity that hates all life, especially humanity. Despite SCP-682 normally killing all humanity on-sight, especially when it makes direct contact with human flesh, SCP-682 has consistently been shown to be docile and even friendly with SCP-053. Across numerous stories and canons, SCP-682 is frequently portrayed as protective of and caring for SCP-053. The exact reason for this is unclear but SCP-682 appears to feel a connection to SCP-053 due to them both being hated by humanity. An important side note here is that, while it is not stated in the original article, additional material has heavily suggested SCP-682 also has a compulsive effect on humans that encourages them to attack it, although this is significantly more subtle than with SCP-053.

THE ENTITY is a parasitic entity infecting the human noosphere (the collection of all ideas and concepts human are capable of understanding). It was discovered during the events of SCP-5000 and has become a recurring threat ever since. Its exact effects on reality are not fully understood, but it is directly responsible for humans feeling pain. After it was discovered by the SCP Foundation, all who were aware of it unanimously agreed it was disgusting! This led the SCP Foundation to work to rid the infection of the entity from all of their staff before massacring the remaining human population. Furthermore, THE ENTITY’s infection is heavily implied to be what causes SCP-682 to find humanity disgusting. Additional context from the ADMONITION storyline and the SCP-682 termination log further supports this. Foundation personnel who were no longer affected by THE ENTITY no longer felt pain, possessed a complete apathy to violence and the suffering of those still affected, and were no longer affected by SCP-1440 which passively results in the degradation of human society around itself. It is clear that these personnel are, in many ways, no longer human as we would traditionally define.

ANALYSIS:

Clearly SCP-053 and SCP-682’s relationship is strange and we do not currently have a detailed explanation for why SCP-682 seems to care about SCP-053 so much. There are some side stories/canons that offer explanations, but they are mostly incompatible with popular modern interpretation of SCP-682 popularized by Dr. Gears (SCP-682’s original author) and the ADMONITION canon. Yes I know “THERE IS NO CANON” but this portrayal of SCP-682 has been the direction the SCP wiki has taken for a long time so I will be using it.

So why does SCP-682 like SCP-053? The only thing we know of that SCP-682 feels a connection due to them both being hated by humanity. The two SCPs also share a few anomalous properties, those being extremely potent and fast regenerative abilities and a passive compulsion for humans to try and destroy them. These similarities are already note-worthy but, when combined with their interactions, it becomes clear there is some kind of greater relation between the two anomalies. I will get back to this.

SCP-053 also strangely seems to share some features with the SCP Foundation personnel that were no longer affected by THE ENTITY. The big ones being a complete apathy towards pain/violence and a nature separate from traditional humanity (as evidenced by SCP-682 not entering a rage state upon contact with SCP-053 despite doing so with almost all other biological matter, the Foundation themselves questioned the exact nature of SCP-053’s composition as a result of this test). While SCP-053 does not usually actively intend to harm others, like the Foundation in SCP-5000, it still has apparently watched numerous people attempt to murder it and then suddenly die with minimal reaction. It is also worth noting the SCP Foundation personnel in the SCP-5000 story were not completely malevolent to normal people, as evidenced by the interactions of captured agent Samuel Ross, who still claimed hold some affection for his captors (he still killed them though so take this with a grain of salt).

So to summarize: SCP-053 has a positive relationship with and shares numerous anomalous properties with SCP-682, but also behaves similarly to the SCP Foundation Personnel in SCP-5000. Both SCP-682 and these personnel shared a mutual disgust and hatred for THE ENTITY and all those affected by it.

THEORY (again):

But what does this all mean? Well you already read the theory so to get back to my main point: I believe SCP-053’s true anomaly is that it is partially resistant to THE ENTITY, unlike the rest of humanity. This would explain the shared behaviors and anomalous capabilities with SCP-682 and the aforementioned personnel.

But one might ask: “If SCP-053 is not affected by the ENTITY, why does it not try to kill everyone?” Let me respond to this with three points:
1. Samuel Ross serves as evidence that non-affected humans don’t only feel genocidal rage for affected humans. They are still able to feel some affection to normal humans even if it is accompanied by complete apathy to their suffering (very similarly to SCP-053).
While both SCP-682 and the foundation personnel were highly intelligent and knowledgeable about THE ENTITY and its nature, SCP-053 isn’t. SCP-053 is a child that has lived an extremely sheltered life. Why would it understand what is so disgusting about normal people. Remember the Foundation found humanity disgusting after learning about THE ENTITY, before they even removed it from themselves. Knowledge of THE ENTITY is what drives the disgust, not just interaction with those affected.
Finally, there IS an overwhelming hatred present with SCP-053, it is just reversed. Normal people want to kill SCP-053 and consider it monstrous. This is similar to the SCP Foundation during SCP-5000, just going the other way. SCP-682 is also affected by this destructive hatred. What if THE ENTITY is influencing affected humans to hate both SCP-053 and SCP-682 BECAUSE they are unaffected. Sure we did not see this kind of hatred in the original SCP-5000 article, but this is a different circumstance. Here SCP-053 is a part of a world that is still completely under THE ENTITY’s effects, where it still is fully connected to the human noosphere, unlike in SCP-5000 where the Foundation were actively fighting THE ENTITY. Maybe THE ENTITY wants to destroy any beings that oppose it and SCP-053 and SCP-682 are existential threats. Thus, the entity invokes this hatred in affected humans.

This also explains SCP-682’s affection for SCP-053. In SCP-6001, an alternate reality that achieved complete peace across all anomalous entities, SCP-682 is no longer hostile to humanity because they are no longer disgusting. This reality is also one of the few times where we see multiple SCP-682s native to the same universe, almost as if global peace made the reality more hospitable to them. (NOTE: SCP-682 is almost always depicted as hating not just all life but the very fabric of the universe it inhabits. For SCP-682 to not only live peacefully in nature but to also expand its species, the SCP-6001 universe must be fundamentally different from baseline reality). If SCP-053 is the only human who naturally opposes THE ENTITY, then SCP-682 would not only not view her as negatively as it does other humans, but it would have an active incentive to protect SCP-053 as one of its few allies. Of course it would be protective of SCP-053. SCP-053 is one of the only things in this universe not perverted in SCP-682’s perception.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
So that is my theory! I hope you enjoyed it. It is by no means bullet-proof and I am sure that additional material from across the SCP wiki will conflict with this specific interpretation, but I think it is a clean explanation for SCP-053’s anomaly while also connecting into the larger Foundation narrative. Hi all, I haven’t kept up with scp for about 5 years and want to get back into it, but there’s so much new content that I don’t know where to start. I used to read the wiki and watch scp explained (infographic) on youtube.
Some of my old favorites were 3008, 999, and 4999. I love a good story, an interesting concept, something truly scary, or a story that really sticks. Not so much into graphic gore like 106.
What are some of your favourite newer SCPs or tales?
