All Q1 NYRR Races are Sold Out as of ~7:00pm

Megathread here

Last year these races did not sell out on Advance Registration day, though that's not saying a ton - most people here seemed focused on Q2 races and later.

As of ~1:00pm today, the queue was down to 0-1 minutes, and the first race sold out at 1:16pm, so it looks like for anyone in the queue at noon they would have gotten all the races they wanted.

GWB Southwalk now open

Just saw it on the news...the walkways on the GWB are complete. This is a bittersweet day for me. I worked in Englewood Cliffs from 2006-2024. I used to run and bike across the GWB all the time. During Covid I was usually alone in the office, and its possible I might've spent very long breaks running across the bridge and riding into the park (I also explored all the trails in the Palisades). Running to Yankee Stadium was a favorite summer activity. So now, bikes will be on the north pathway, and runners on the south. Much safer for everyone. Sad I can't use it regularly, but wish you all good riding up 9W. No more dodging electric scooters and bikes!

My friend and I both entered into the Tipster NYC Bakery Run half marathon lottery! I believe the lottery results are supposed to be released today - has anyone heard back yet, positively or negatively?

Weekend weather - a good opportunity for practice

Sunday morning is looking to be quite cool, so could be a good opportunity to test/practice some aspects of running in colder weather in races - such as opening gel packs with gloves on, etc.

NYC Marathon - Blue vs. Orange/pink corral 1A for faster pace?

I got assigned Blue wave 1 corral A and I'm looking to run sub 2:45 time, from research that starts right behind the elite men but in past videos I've seen and start pages, there are a ton of charity runners, NYPD, FDNY, celebrities at the start, many people who look like they're starting at a slow jog, taking selfies, etc. Is orange or pink corral better for that reason? Will there be a huge bottleneck and a lot of weaving early on in blue wave start? I see the bridge looks wide and I'm sure things will spread out but I'd rather avoid expanding that much energy and be among similar runners from the start

Looking for a Volunteer Swap

Hey NYRR running community! Reaching out for some help. I was chosen to be the flag bearer for my birth country Bangladesh but it conflicts with my 4pm Friday, October 30th volunteer shift at the expo to finish 9+1. NYRR has not been able to support and told me to keep looking for openings. You all know how hard it’s been to get a volunteer slot. If anyone has a morning expo slot for Friday they’d be willing to trade, I’d very much appreciate it. Really hoping I can finish my 9+1 and also rep my country for my first ever marathon. Thank you!

grandstand tickets: can we stay after 5 PM?

I bought 5 tickets for the TCS NYC Marathon grandstand viewing area for November 1, 2026. The event information says:
“Entry into TCS New York City Marathon events begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.”
It also says to allow 15–20 minutes to walk from the entrance at West 66th Street and Columbus Avenue to the viewing area inside Central Park.

The person we’re watching is expected to finish after 5 PM.

Does anyone know from personal experience whether the 5 PM cutoff means that new entry closes at 5 PM, or whether everyone has to leave the ticketed viewing area at 5 PM? If we arrive well before 5 PM, can we stay and watch our runner finish later?

Transportation Back Up Plan

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just have this crippling fear that I will oversleep on race day like Jean-Paul Jean-Paul on Seinfeld. I have a bib through work that includes bus transportation and 5:15AM. If I happen to miss the bus, is the Statan Island Ferry open to anyone day of or do you have to have a ticket/reservation in advance?

My wave isnt until 10:55AM so that could leave me some time to catch the ferry as a plan B if it's allowed

Thank you!

Advice on spectating sub 3 runner?

My boyfriend is running the NY marathon and aiming for a 2:55 time. I’m trying to figure out the best spots to see him - is it realistic to see him 3 times or is it smartest to stick to 2? Any advice welcome!

5am Ferry - How to Get There

Extremely excited for my first NYC marathon! Im part of the 9:10am start time and saw I need to be on the 5am Ferry. Ill be staying in Midtown off of 49th and Lexington.

To make it for the 5am ferry, what mode of transportation do you suggest? Im thinking of grabbing a taxi or a uber/lyft. Not sure if the subway is the best option at a delirious hour for an out of towner.

Diplo Run club NYC

Hi!! I decided to do something for myself and bought a ticket to Diplos run club. Is this event good for people going solo? I’m nervous as this is my first time I’ve attended something like this solo - will I meet people? Will it be fun or awkward to be alone? Anyone else attending solo and want to meet up?

Can I change my start corral for NYCM

I would love to be in an earlier wave. I have run a 3:05 marathon and in wave 3. Feel like I’ll be running into people. But not sure since I’ve never raced NYC. Is this going to be an issue for me? And can I switch? Or am I out luck?

NYC Marathon Training

Hi all,
I’m seeing a lot of people struggling with the Chicago Marathon on instagram. Personally I think this comes down to not enough rest time. I ran the Long Island marathon in April past, done a 10 week training block but really only 8 because I took 2 weeks off and completed it in 3:15. I am in no ways a great runner, I’d class myself a middle of the pack kinda guy. This training block for me was horrible wasn’t feeling it in dialed back to running 3/4 times a week. This week I’m taking of to rest and I’m only running roughly 20 mile for the each week from now to the marathon. I really hope this strategy works. I feel like people are t getting enough rest with the blocks and by the time the marathon comes around people’s legs are shot. Please let me know your thoughts. I may be completely off off.

I was lead on by a Charity about running the NYC Marathon

Hello all,

I have been training for the marathon over the last several months. I was an alternate for a charity's team. It looks as if I will not be receiving a bib from the team, even though they lead me to believe it was EXTREMELY likely I would have a spot. I have heard that on the day of the race sometimes folks will hand out extra/unused bibs. Is this true? My question is really should I dress and prepare for the race in hopes that someone will have an extra bib?

Is there another way to get one?
