I was letting my players sell some of their starting equipment that they didn’t want and pick up some extra supplies before starting the journey. It turned into a fun RP moment where they were “haggling” with the store owner over prices, coming up with three and four way trades, and offering to do jobs for a discounted price lol - all at the beginning of session 1 🤣🤣

But we couldn’t quite figure out how to sell to the shop yet. There’s a seller tab, but that only seems to be if the DM is acting as a “store owner” and can send items to the players inventory.

It’s not a big deal if we can’t do that right now, I’m checking to see if I missed something.

I've requested help from roll20 but they haven't gotten back to me in 2 weeks.

I've made a monster called Chaos Lord. It is a unique monster so their token's HP bar is directly linked to the statblock's hp. However, I can't change the token's HP, it remains at 0. When I try to add to it in the circle, nothing happens when I press enter. When I try to open up the token directly and edit it directly, it does not keep the new HP total. I have two tokens that are acting this way (but I'm assuming whatever is wrong with Chaos Lord is the same problem as the other token). I've provided some screenshots down below.

I don't know if it's an update or what but any roll that isn't from the default dice roller shows up like this. Before it would all be within a box and the text would be a bit different, on top of that the details section of the attack doesn't work either. I've already wiped the campaign chat clean in settings but that didn't fix it, my players say the attack boxes show up normal in the chat for them so it's only on my end.

After over a year on the backburner, i finally got around to finishing my infernal war machines, giving them stat blocks for the many tokens i made. The one on the cover here is the Blazer, an infernal hot rod with an engine you can supercharge with extra soul coins, but theres six others.

For now its only available on roll20 but for those that are interested in artwork that fits in with more detailed styles im doing high quality remakes like the one in the second pic over on my patreon and releasing them 1 by 1 for my patrons, and after that i will be releasing it on dmsguild for a lower price than the 4.99 minimum that roll20 requires. I'm trying to have what's basically a cage covered with a sheet so players can't see inside it initially. My current guess is create walls for the cage bars and when they remove the sheet delete the walls, but I don't know how to delete walls?

I’ve used the masking tool to hide things the players shouldn’t be able to see yet, is there a better way to do it? Like have the tokens have a line of sight and mark which things can block line of sight like walls or tall furniture? I have a Pro Subscription (needed it to be able to upload my maps which I make myself in Dungeon Draft) if that enables anything?

I've been doing 3D art with Daz Studio as a hobby for a few years now, and am looking for a side-gig to earn some money. Figured I can make some character tokens and try sell them on roll20.

I've used roll20 a few times to play with friends in 2020, but not since.

I am looking for some advice/feedback before I invest the time to create a full pack of ~25 tokens and submit my application to become a vendor on the roll20 store.

Any critique is welcome.

Not sure about the flair for this question/issue. Basically, the Roll20 website isn't loading after the log-in page. On firefox, it will just render as a blank white page. On chrome, it'll take me to my games, but when I enter a game, it defaults to a string of text on a white page. Nothing I can interact with.

So my question is this-- what's happening and how can I fix it (if I can fix it on my end)?

EDIT: My wife was using a proxy, and that was what was preventing Roll20 from loading correctly.

Not all my players want to use an online character sheet. Some of them prefer a piece of paper, and that's fine. They're not cheating or abusing it in any way.

Is there any way I can make a character, in the game or out of it, that isn't tied to a character sheet?

When i try to parse a NPC and use either notepad or word is get an error message:
Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'attribute')

Apologies if this isn’t the right tag, but I’m not sure what it would fall under. I’ve been using Roll20 for years, but only used the more basic features like lighting and multi sided tokens. I’ve got the big final battle coming up in my campaign where the party need to fight their way across a battlefield to reach the main antagonist. This gave me the idea to have the occasional volley of arrows fly overhead as some extra wow factor.

I know a lot of new visual effects have been added lately and there’s a way to use animated assets, which has made me wonder if it’s possible to show the volley of arrows soaring across the foreground layer of the map using some of the fancy new tools? Any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

The other day I opened one of my player's sheet's to check something and found the colors on some parts of it became way brighter than normal? I've been using the same browser and haven't messed with any settings on it, so I have no idea what caused the reds, greys, and blacks to drastically change. NPC statblocks are fine so it's not like I see this often, but if I wanna check something I see this. Anyone encounter this, what seems like a, bug before?

Also opening the game on another browser changes the colors here back but now the game is in light mode colors. Opening the character sheets in a pop-out window has them look normal though? No idea what's going on.

Hey everyone, I need some help figuring out an issue with Dynamic Lighting. I’m using Chrome, just in case that matters.

I recorded a video showing what happens, but here are a few extra details I’ve noticed:

• Whenever a player lights a torch, I update their token's bright/dim light settings. But when the player moves their token afterwards, the light source stays behind instead of following them. They end up keeping vision of that old spot even after walking around a corner.
• Same thing happens when I toggle vision on tokens during the session — at some point, tokens just start seeing through walls or seeing areas they definitely shouldn't.

It’s super frustrating. Refreshing the page temporarily fixes it, but it happens to my players as well. Having to constantly refresh and rejoin mid-game just to fix the lighting is a huge pain...

I have no idea what’s causing this or how to fix it permanently. Has anyone else encountered this or found a solution?

Hey, has anyone seen/made a Character Sheet for "Tainted Grail: Song of a Dying World" for VTTs such as Roll20?

I'm having a hell of a time parsing the information in the Scriptcards manual. I need examples of the use of the --i and --q tags, and how to create a variable from a dropdown menu.

Reading the manual, it seems to me that the line should be:

--iEnter a Modifier;|q;Modifier;|-3|-2|-1|0|1|2|3

But this does not work. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong, but no amount of trial and error seems to get me where I want.

I want to pass the variable "Modifier" to a --=Var line (--=Var + Modifier) to pass to a series of branches. Can't get it to work no matter what I do.

Can somebody explain the use of the query system (not in Roll20, I understand that, just in Scriptcards).

Hi, I've been using the free subscription to play a game with my friends but the other day I hit the max storage alert.

I decided to delete some maps from the beginning of the campaing so I could add more.

But the amount available in storage didn't change.

At this point I tried deleting EVERYTHING: music, pdfs, maps, tokens, assets in library,...

But that only freed 20MB.

What are those 80 other MB being used in?

The campaing is basically blank now.

I've searched around but nothing works. I tried refreshing, clearing the cookies, deleting the history of the browser, waiting a month to see if it updates on its own,...

Can anyone help me please?

I was considering paying for the subscription, but if the storage keeps bugging like this, it isn't worth it :(

Last year, all of my assets suddenly vanished one day. All of my maps, handouts, music, tokens, everything from every game I'd ever been in was gone. Every asset I'd uploaded had that little torn page icon next to it. Anything that was not text based could not be accessed. So, I re-uploaded everything I could and kept going. Today, it happened again.

I looked through the support page on the website, but the only thing close to my issue I found was recovering an entire game that was deleted. My game itself is still in tact, so I'm not sure that help thread would apply to my current situation. Then again, I could just be overthinking it. So, my question is, where do I go from here? Is there anything I can do to restore all of the assets without having to re-upload every single one? Last time it took several hours, and I've added a whole lot more stuff since then, so it's gonna take nearly twice as long as last time.

I've used Roll20 for 5 years now. Up until last year, I never had a single problem. I've paid for the subscription for all 5 of those years because I believed Roll20 was a good service worth the price. After today, I'm seriously reconsidering that stance. I want to keep using Roll20, but I don't know if I can risk this happening again.

EDIT: I found the "Images Failing to Load" page on the troubleshooting section, and I tried a few of the solutions they recommended. I tried using a VPN and enabling that "experimental image delivery service" thing, but neither worked. I'm going to keep trying other things to see if anything works.

Just curious if anyone else sees this as a general trend -- I've noticed an anecdotal decrease in response rates across the board for Roll20 games (all kinds of systems, all kinds of times etc.). I've attached a screenshot. The majority have 0 responses.

Just curious how longstanding a trend this is, or what people might think the reasons are. Does most recruiting happen on reddit now or Discord now? Is there just a mismatch between GM game concepts and player interest (players only interested in doing a handful of 5e megamodules like Curse of Strahd at specific times, GM interest in other kinds of games)? Do players expect GMs to reach out to them to recruit instead of applying to games? Genuinely not sure and curious what everyone's thoughts are since the commonly-encountered chatter on reddit is that there are many more players than GMs, yet there doesn't seem to be much response to the games being offered in this venue despite that fact.

Whenever I upload or place a map, I get the above message when I try to use Align to Grid (Beta and Legacy), and the button on the GUI is whited out. I have never used Dungeon Scrawl and just upload images of maps to the VTT directly - does anyone know how I can fix this please or at least be able to use Align to Grid again?

This has only been an issue for the last few days - previously the new Align to Grid was working well for me. Thank you.
